  • Nice man... This really reminds me of Jaco =3 What are your equips?

  • wow, very nice cover. i want to learn this version of the song as well. very nice playing mate

  • @funkstar650

You are a great player. Take it from me. I'm a great player, too. That doesn't make either of us Jaco Pastorius. I doubt the guy would laugh at you if he were still with us. In the everyday world of everyday players, only "monsters" would ever even think about biting down in this piece. To that point, it looks like you scared a few viewers! Good job.

  • awesome! i love this, im not as good but please check out my short continuum video too.

  • Great! Well done!

  • great work boy!!!!!! :)

  • I LIKE THIS VERSIO A LOT, IF YOU ARE NOT A PRO I DON,T CARE YOU PLAY AS GOOD AS MANY ,PRO PLAYER , DON,T PAY ATENTION TO A NEGATIVE KEEP GOING I WANT TO BE LIKE U , SOME DAY , I LIKE YOU PLAY VERY GOOD!!

  • I played this on my Rickenbacker 4001 for the Wisconsin High School solo and ensemble competition back in 1985. They didn't know where to put me, so I went with the tubas. I forgot a complete line, but they still gave me a starred first and ribbon!

  • Thanks so much for playing this! Jaco is the One who got me started playing the Bass! I finally got myself a Fretless Bass! Sweet track. :^D

  • youre bass sounds amazing!! and your a great player!

  • i could listen to you play that alll dayyy lonnnngggg

  • Dear fybjstar650 greetngs from Colombia, great job!!!! Do you use the original flatwound strings that come with the Jaco bass or roundwound? Thank you, you are amazing!

  • @javierandresmesa i hope hes not using roundwound, heard that thing eats away fretless

  • @MeckelBot Thank you MeckelBot, i agree however Jaco used Rotosound Swing Roundwound strings in his fretless, the Jaco's relic bass and the Squier version come originally with roundwounds too. Some owner's reviews of this Fender bass tell they have changed the strings to get a sound closer to Jaco's sound, if i am not wrong funkstar650 is using flatwounds, i'm planning to buy this bass and i would like to know opinions, thank you again, peace!

  • @javierandresmesa Is it a squier vintage modified jazz? i didnt know jaco used roundwounds.. then again his bass looked like it took a beating, and jaco could grove with a stone, lol. thanks for the info :)

  • @MeckelBot Hi friend! No, this is the Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass and it comes with flatwound strings, you can view its specs at Fender's web site. However, for the price the Squier Vintage Fretless Bass is awesome, it cames with roundwound strings. Peace ;)

  • @javierandresmesa If was to get one, id almost for sure get the squier :). but parents would help out if i was to learn portuguese guitar, so I guess the bass will be far in the future :). thanks for the reply btw

  • Are you using an audio interface to record this? what is it?

  • is that a squier fretless ? man, this is great !! brilliant tone and intonation !!

  • @mxeria no it is not, its the Fender jaco pastorius sig

  • You should make more videos with this bass... I can't find any vids of this bass or soundclips and I'm looking at getting one! how does it play?

  • @m1ndNOVA i have one of those ...it sounds crazy

  • Man...you keep on surprizing me. Great work on Jaco .

  • I bought the same bass as yours 3 weeks ago used, but I can't take it home for another week because they need to keep it for a full month so they can make sure that they got it stolen or anything. Anywho, I've spent the past week or so transcribing this from your video so when I do get the bass I can use it for what it was meant for. You did a great job with the song. Very well played.

  • The master of low frequencies. Jaco!!!.

  • love this version, exellent

  • Nice man! Great sound and intonation. Check out my "Tracy" when you have a chance and tell me what you think.

  • Realy good job!

  • Hi, this is awesome!!

What effect do you have on the bass? (if any).

    Thanks

  • @Cummnz HAHAHAHA!!! youre a pussy for throwing mud and running away like a little girl! coward!

  • @Cummnz OH, and i didnt make any threats whatsoever, and YT will see that

  • @Cummnz i have breached no protocol, there are way worse internet arguments here on youtube, im sure they will just think you need to get some thicker skin, oh, and a backbone. Youre blocked anyway, so i get the last word, yay!

have fun living life on your knees, you nasty vindictive "person"

  • @Cummnz ok so you forced me to do this publically you smug, sanctimonious, cowardly, judgemental "servant of god"! if heaven is full of people like you i'll take my chances in hell thanx!

you cant even see how appaling your attitude is can you??

ive left your nasty message up on my channel so anyone with a brain can shake their head in non patronising genuine concern for the future of our planet shared with the likes of YOU

    FUCKWIT

  • Does the US Jaco signature sound a lot better than the actual standard frettless jazz basses? That bass sounds really good, looks very well built. Nice playing too dude.

  • @xturban Hi, thanx for watching and commenting. Well the fingerboard on the Jaco Signature is pao ferro, not rosewood, which has a polyester finish. It comes a bit closer to the Jaco sound although Jaco used and epoxy on his fingerboard.

    Hope this helps.

    Peace

  • Truely wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Is that a MIA Jaco Tribute or a CIJ Jaco Tribute? Either way it sounds amazing.

  • @Linus27 Thank you so much for watching and commenting... sorry but I don't understand the question really. What do you mean with a MIA or CIJ Jaco Tribute?

    Peace

  • @funkstar650 Hi again, sorry what I mean is, is the Fender Jazz than you are playing, a Made in America Jaco Tribute bass or a Crafted In Japan 62 Re-Issue Jaco Tribute bass or just a box standard American Fender Jazz Fretless?

  • @Linus27 ahhhhh lol, it's the US Jaco Signature Fender Jazz.

    Thanx for asking.

    Peace

  • @funkstar650 thank you. It sounds wonderful but then they do say tone is in the hands so I guess its you thats making it sound sweet. Thanks and all the best.

  • @Linus27 Thank you! I think the tone comes from both the bass and the hands. Although noone can sound like Jaco... he remains one of a kind. I did change the pots in the bass though to get a deeper tone.

Peace and all the best to you and yours.

  • beautiful job man! sounds great

  • i like it

  • amazig ....great cover

  • Wonderful tribute. I only started playing bass in the late 90s but jaco was of course a great influence on me. I learned a great deal about feel and intonation just by listening and trying to mimic his sounds.

  • Sweet!

    Thanks :)

  • incredible man... what bass and pickups are those?

  • sorry for being so harsh. i had no idea you were not a professional bassist. the only thing i will say is, jaco had a huge ego. so, maybe he would be proud that he has affected so many bassists lives.

  • @christophwalters What does that change if he's professional bassist or not ?

  • Well done. Nice tribute.

  • Comment removed

  • @christophwalters You are soooo right. I don't sound anything like Jaco. Never said I did either. As a matter of fact: there is noone in this world that will ever sound like him. Only Jaco sounds like Jaco. But the thing is that this clip was meant as a tribute. Out of tune notes or not, it's meant well. I ain't no pro. Just a music and bass lover. That's all... Jaco would laugh at me. Maybe he would but if he knew that this was to honor him instead of copying him he would more proud I hope.

  • @funkstar650

That guy's a troll. I think you did a good job. Jaco would be proud, because he meant well when he played. So don't listen to this chicken. All bark but no show.

  • @funkstar650 yeah, you're right, and for me you are PRO. I guess iamspecialized808

is not even a bass player!!!

  • @funkstar650 you did a fantastic job,and jaco would be proud of sure.

  • dam how do yall get the chords to work so well?

  • Muito bom!!!

Está perfeito! Você teria a partitura dessa versão? Já procurei em todos os sites eu não consegui achar.

  • Great touch man! I was buddies with Jaco and started to gig with him on drums when I was just 19. Great playing!

    Rob Schuh

  • Excellent job. I used to play along with the version from the Bday concert. This one is much longer. Very good job. Your sound is almost identical. Jaco would be happy to hear this.

  • awesome!!

  • awesome, beautiful... just subscribed

  • awesome tone bro.. tone is everything

  • Hi, What strings?? All details please

  • Really close to Jaco tone, Pao Ferro is something similar to rosewood with petite poly poxy on it ? I know that Pao Ferro is harder than brazilian or indian rosewood.

  • thank you my friend !!!

i think we felt the same listening this beauty.......just because of your face..

    thank you again !!!!....

  • buen trabajo el sonido es similar al de jaco

  • do you have any kind of effect on or anything to get that great jaco tone, because i really want to have that tone and i'm not sure how to get it?

  • Get a fretless bass, first and foremost! :)

  • Then get Rotosound Standard Swing Bass 66 Strings and an Acoustic Amplifier or a Line 6 Pod Mimicing the Acoustic 360 Amplifier sound or a Hartke Cabinet like the one in the background.

  • jaco used an analogue mxr delay to get a choruslike effect, it says on his wikipage^^

  • calvarychapelhh: Actually, that is a fretless--it's a Fender Jaco tribute bass which is a replica of the bass Jaco used. Those are fret lines on the neck.

    Bobert

    Bassist of The Muddy Cones

  • Awesome job on a fretted neck...

  • Davvero bravo

Where can I find the sheet music or tab for this version of the continuum?

    hello thanks.

    thanks

  • oh, man, that was sweet...!

  • Yes it is

    Peace

  • Ok, I will. I have just bought a new custom fretless. It is really well made. I am on facebook, there you can see me with an original '65 fender Jazz bass. You can find me searching for Andrea Da Rin, but I will update my profile with new photos including the fretless.

    Have a nice day.

  • Thank you my man. Well it took quite some time of course, especailly the Jaco feel is hard to achieve and as you can hear, I don't master it. All my play alongs are learned by ear. Thanx for commenting and asking.

  • Greetings from Long Island,New York. Just discovered you on you tube tonight on this snowy night. I am a bass player & huge Jaco fanatic. Beatiful Tribute.

  • I'm looking to buy that bass since it's so nice xD. Whats a good price for it? My local dealer wants to sell it to me for 2,500$ CAN. I don't know, but sounds a little pricey as I saw it for much less on eBay. What do you think?

  • I think that's the reguals price really... these USA Pastorius Sig Fender don't come cheap. In Canadian $ I think it's just a regular price.

Peace and good luck searching for one! Let me know if you found one OK?

    Peace

  • it sounds fretless, may i know what kind of effects did you use?

  • Hey there, well it IS a fretless... the only effect I used is a little bit of chorus. That's all.

    Peace
