  • Love this album so much. Behind the stars is my favorite.

  • i'm really love this album, i listen at least once a week, the beauty is absolutely in the details - but i've deleted "stick to my side" from my computer and ipod, the track only serves to annoy me and ruin the flow of the album. without that track the album is a 9/10 for me.

what is the name of the first artist you recommend at the end of this review?

  • great review.. adore this Album a year or so on.. 'Lay in a Shimmer' for me stands out as the greatest track on the album..love it

  • SAMI!!!!!!

  • Sami :D

  • can you send me the album?icq or so?

  • If you really want minimalist you should check out Martial Canterel or Xeno & Oaklander.

  • It's such a shame that you can't play samples in your reviews anymore.. or do you just don' do it anymore?:D

  • my favourite Minimal Album thus far. Music got me totally hooked. Reminds me of some of the more hypnotic and ringy ambient mixes of deepmixmoscow, my favourite radio station out there. It's like the best parts I personally like in Minimal and Ambient got merged together. I highly recommend this Album.

  • thanks for the recommendations at the end

  • Thanks for the recommendation, i'm liseting now, sounds like a Pop-ly Autechre, great album.

  • WHAT!!!! the panda bear track is one of my favorites. good review regardless.

  • @Ravel87 I don't the panda bear track either. Sounds like a deliberate attempt at mersh. Plus that repeating shit is hellannoying!

  • hey,

im really enjoying your blog! since your into electronic music ...

you should review OLIVER KOLETZKI's new album LOVESTONED!

    forever

  • Although I completely disagree with your review of the "Stick By Your Side" track, I think you're a great reviewer and keep it up!

  • if you dig this, listen to monolake - silence!

  • Check out Tim Greens, "Give it a go" great minimal song that got me into the genre.

  • What's the name of the song @ 1:43?

  • This is a really fantastic album if you are willing to give it time and your attention. Love the production too. It's refreshing to hear an album that isn't smashed to all hell to get your attention, especially in the electronic genre. It's apparent Pantha Du Prince is quite intelligent in his approach and this is a really refreshing record. I was happy to purchase it and support someone who is genuinely an awesome musician

  • Easily a 9 for me. The second half of the album blows anything else away I have heard in this genre including Four Tet, RxRy, and Ulrich Schnauss.

  • @bohemiandonut I agree with the score but the I'll have to disagree and say the end gets much weaker. I felt myself losing the groove on the last 2 to 3 songs and waiting for the next song to start.

  • @Verazze Blasphemer!

  • @bohemiandonut I tend to be blasphemous at times. What can I say, it happens.

  • great beats from pantha

  • Welt Am Draht is the most beautiful song I've all year. Absolutely stunning.

  • Gonna listen to this album tonight to help me fall asleep. Just downloaded it off of 4shared. Yes, illegally. Don't kill me!

  • Anthony, when you recommended other minimalist artists, there were three: Alex Smoke, Four Tet, and who was the other one? Is it Powell? I can't seem to find it. I'm sure I spelled it wrong. By the way, thanks for the cool review, and for the book recommendation. I've always wanted to read a philosophical book on music.

  • does anyone consider this record ambient?

  • dude u are bad ass..haha who knew someone on youtube would actually be doing a pantha du prince review! props! your view is quite impressive! This genre is my specialty and you summed it up well!

  • I'm really digging your reviews. Keep doin' your thang mang!

  • this album is my breakfast/morning music haha, it alerts my senses. I don't think of it as techno, techno seems very technical and mechanical. this is to me is very natural noise, very warm sounding. Noises of rivers and tides off somewhere untouched by man...hard to describe really...

surprised you reviewed this hah, i didn't think it was widely known about...

  • This Bliss was really awesome.

I am seriously disapointed with Black Noise though.

  • ahh if u want the real first minimalist tracks they are plastikman, no questions asked

  • @chillercm i dont like richie hawtin.

  • Anthony, you're the best album reviewer ever! Thanks for bringing this to my ears!

  • @enyafreak2007 Glad you're digging it! :-)

  • You obviously don't understand anything about Pantha du Prince

  • @poncepilateify OK, well if you have a more valid opinion, I'd love to hear it in a video response.

  • Check out modeselektor too :)

  • Anyone who loves this should give Floating Points and Mount Kimbie a listen,

  • I'm really enjoying the somewhat more 'academic' (for lack of a better word) feel of some of your recent reviews. It appeals to my nerdy side. :D (Also, Black Noise is a gorgeous album.)

  • loving four tet , what i love about minimal is that it takes you someplace and leave just enough room for you to be inspired as well emotional and at best spiritual. its like a gift that keeps on giving.

  • Really love this album. I've been a long time fan of Autechre and Aphex Twin and this album, i some ways, remind me of their work. I like the landscape that leave you visualising after the album is over. By the way, thanks for doing all this for all the music lover that we are. I enjoy your reviews and and keep the good work!

  • I'll be listening to it s'more, and maybe it'll grow on me. I'm just wishing he threw those tracks earlier in the album to sort of break things up.

  • Thanks for commenting! And as always, you're awsome.

  • this is hilarious to watch with the new youtube transcribe audio. lawl

  • I'm yet to try it. I'm kinda afraid. :-p

  • Thanks for turning me on to this guy. Me gusta.

  • WooT! :-D

  • sweet. Minimalist Techno? that's totally new to me. Thanks. I guess I'll check it out.

  • Try it out, broooooooo.

  • ok but it's sissssss. lol XD

  • so this album is like if regular techno music got depressed.

  • Kinda.

  • 8/10, bordering on a 9. Liked it even more than Four Tet's album. The sounds are amazing! Possibly my favourite of the year so far...

  • Really? I dug the Four Tet more, but this was really close for me. I was struggling with which one was better for a little while, heh.

  • Anthony you know you wanna bust some better moves than that on the opening by the tree!

  • Yeah, I've gotta get a routine together.

  • This album sucks. Got a good pitchfork review just cos' of his connection with Panda Bear. Sad.

  • Don't see how that is since his last LP got a good review, which had no panda bear on it; plus, the P4K review says the PB track is the only lackluster one on the whole album. Lulzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. X-D

  • wow this album is amazing ive never heard anything like it. thanks once again for helping me find great music

  • :-D *hi five*

  • Would you consider Secret Cheifs 3 miminalistic techno/dance?

  • Listening to some of their stuff right now, and I wouldn't say so. Is all this stuff they're playing sampled or something?

  • This youtube video transcription thing is awesome.

Instead of, "one other gripe about the LP..."

I got, "the other great thing about the GOP is the region department sort."

    Brilliant. The review as well.

  • lulzzzzzzz. Yeah, I love the GOP so much. :-p

  • Definitely grabbing this. Thanks for the review. :D

  • No, thanks for commenting/watching. :-)

  • i enjoyed this album lots.

  • Pantha du Prince's "Black Noise" as my friend has said is a techno album for children. It's very melodic and features a lot of plinky-dink sounds (his words). and I can see it too. i envision a lot of cartoony images when listening to this album but the background is always really stunning like fjords or glaciers. something very chilling.

    i'd say it's a strong 7...maybe an 8.

  • I would totally play this LP for my kids...if I had any. :-p

  • @NeonFoxLetsPlays Under the Stars would likely make your child a future serial killer.

  • @OkayCompy well at least they've already figured out what they want to do in life.

  • sounds pretty interesting

Looks like you're getting nice weather. Lucky SOB

  • Four Tet is all the techno I need for a while, but thank you Anthony!

  • I'm in a needle drop video?! Does that count as our collab then? Haha. Thanks for the love.

  • Could we collab not this Monday, but next, possibly? :-)

  • Sure thing man. We could do that.

  • Hahahha. Why did someone thumb down your comments!??! Does someone not want us to collab!?!? :-p Shoot me a YT message w/ur phone and we'll talk.

  • Are you going to put up your blog tv from last night?

    Great review btw

  • Nah, it wasn't recorded. It was mostly a listening party for the Liars album. :-)

  • It was a fairly good album.

  • This album sounds awesome :O

    I <3 minimalism 2!

  • Disappointed by the Panda Bear collab? Wooooot? Best track of the album. But I love the whole thing!

  • I dug the new four tet album a lot. gonna check this one out as well. :)

  • who's the guy at the beginning? :P

  • rock it out blog :-)
