I'm liking this as I have for 40 yrs. What's missing here is the discussion that for some reason a corporate label signed this guy and released this back in the day. People bought it for the talent. No advertising, no airplay, no MTV, no VH1, no video, no reality show.
This album was always "popular" in an underground way. This entire genre of music (Jazz/Rock fusion, or whatever) had it's day in the USA. Always very popular to smoke bong hits to this. Very fashionable among sopisticated stoners.
i hate those whorship coments jeff beck rules but dosent need an asskisser´s to play the motherfuckin guitar as he do, so fuck you rock fan!, cuse someday will be more inteligent rock stars like this dude!, plus robert frip, plus john mayall, plus can...
My favorite Beck-Hammer interplay at the end. So bad! Not to take ANYTHING from John McLaughlin but Hammer's best foil was Jeff Beck. Maybe he felt subservient to John and a peer or superior to Beck but he just sounds like a different monster on Beck's albums.
Saw him the last two years at NOLA Jazz and Heritage Festival after many years -- The Warehouse in NOLa 70's -- still spectacular, if anything better, taste is refined and distilled. He da man.
Saw him do this live in Chicago in about1977? He played well ,but the little prick never said one word . After maybe 45 minutes he just walked off.Jan Hammer looked annoyed.
To candy1710 ~ No, not here in the UK anyway. Not Jeff Beck. Always been ignored on our airways, (apart from that one song, the one that isn't his proper music), it's a bloody disgrace! Maybe Planet Rock play him sometimes now? I don't know, I don't tune in there anymore to hear the same basic 50 songs week in, week out.
Ever listened to FIP Radio online? Quality station. Give it a go. Jeff gets a play there now and then ;-j
Narada is an absolute MONSTER! Love seeing him tour with Jeff Beck. It's where he should be so we can all enjoy his playing, which is magic! "Killer CHOPS"!!!!!
The best of "wired" which is the best Jeff Beck album and one of the best records ever made.Very vivid and it reminds me of every Sophie i ever knew. Also i hear the origins of Rush's"spirit of radio" in this and Alex Lifeson is another favorite guitarist of mine.I could never in a billion years even attempt this song so i have to settle for listening .
Not to suggest that it is dated, but the tune really captures a lot of the lethargy and desperation of the mid-70s. For me, that's one of the most enjoyable aspects about it.
to thechzman ~ so I did!? Scatterbrain me :-) Thanks for noticing, now included. JH also gets credited (on the album, not necessarily this track) with some drum playing and Walden with piano too ;-j
Check out the song "Rock 'N' Roll Jelly" from the Stanley Clarke album "Modern Man", My favourite Jeff solo plus the craziest Bass solo... Incredible stuff!
i played this album one time for sum friends and they did not undersatnd it at all lol, maybe cause im in the younger generation, either way Jeff Beck is phenominal
I love this song so much...and have always been amazed that a drummer could write such a beautiful piece...only because his instrument doesn't lend itself well to composing...like a guitar or piano, for instance...
I'm a percussionist, and I think this is one of pieces to play my bongos to...I can jump off the main rhythm and follow the keyboards, if I like!
The riff trading between Beck and Jan Hammer starting around 5:20 is phenomenal. Beck's response to Hammer's line at 5:51 is off the charts brilliant. This is fusion at it's best. Great tune.
I have always thought that particular riff at 5:51 is the best thing he has ever done....I have seen him in concert a couple of times, but I cannot recall al lick like that!!
Blow By Blow, th@'s a well groovy album. Another George Martin production and the first of JB's th@ I ever heard. I've never tired of listening to it. (I've got my ticket (since November) for one of the upcoming Summer gigs)!! ☺
One of the most spectacular songs in the illustrious Beck cannon , not very well known for some unfathomable reason!

This is my favorite JB tune. GREAT record and this songs just kills. Michael Walden is as good on this as any of his Mahavishnu stuff.

This is such a subtle tune that it's easy to overlook how awesome the drumming is. The buildup starting at 0:52 is truly inspired.
