PAT, you're so funny, i too think about "this stuff a lot", and i totally agree, they needed to pick a winner that would work in the industry, so they had to pick the better model. i also think that this whole show is a way for tyra to create her menagerie of international barbie dolls, and laura's look was not new, but nicole's was. if you put winners' pictures side by side, nicole after teyona (and since there was never a red head) looks more pleasing to tyra probably.
Just checking out what you thought on last cycle. Nicole is certainly one of the most deserving girls. Her CoverGirl ad is one of the best ever. Nicole's outfit was better than Laura's in my opinion. I totally agree, since Cycle 9 I've been pretty disappointed with all the winners except for Nicole and McKey. Whitney and Saleisha are the WORST winners ever!!! =P LOL I totally love how you guys love to hate Ann Shoket! XD I'll be waiting to see your ANTM Cycle 15 recaps! =D
The finale made it looks like Laura was going to win- and then Bam- NIcole won! Nicole was a dead give away for a model anyway. But I liked Laura cuz she looked so different before hair/make-up! I loved Laura's bathing suit pic too- she looked like rachel hunter.
Normally, only the 2nd runner up is present in the final fashion show to prevent spoilers but is never shown in the video. Well except for cycle 5 where Bre was obviously there. This cycle, they used all 4 eliminated girls to obviously cut the cost of hiring real models. If they didn't show the 4 eliminated girls, then there wouldn't have been enough girls to show in the video.

On a side note I felt sad when I saw Laura cry ..I love her but there could only be one winner. Laura out shined Nicole on the runway but it wasn't good enough for her to win. This was a great season I know both Laura and Nicole will have successful careers.

ummmm idk if u know this or not, but the girls who are eliminated over seas are always in the runway show. last cycle celia, fo, aminat, natalie, and nijah were in the runway show.... they are used for decoys so top model fans wont know who the actual final two are
Newsflash. I was in the Finale of ANTM in Amsterdam last year. And 5 other contestants did also participate in the show. They just didnt air it on tv.:)

Actually, even in earlier cycles the eliminated girls are not sent home from the overseas destination. They even send some of the other girls overseas as decoys - this cycle Courtney was seen on the beach in Hawaii during the beach challenge.
Also, in earlier cycles they also had eliminated girls walk the final runway as decoys - They just didn't show them on screen.
you're right it is the recession cycle- that's why they had one less judge and why they went to hawaii instead of abroad. no offense to hawaii but come on! every cycle they go to all these countries and then this cycle we're stuck in hawaii lame! but whatev. cool vid u guys can't wait till cycle 14. and btw- teyona over allison....super lame.

pat, i heard u say in an earlier recap about this being the recession cycle becuz of tyra shooting twice, no 4th judge etc, but when i saw the last 4 eliminated girls walk in the runway show i thought OH SHIT! DEFINITELY THE RECESSION CYCLE, and also im sure she wanted to give these short girls who prolly wont work a lot more exposure.... and this way they didnt have to pay real models for the show! i hope the economy gets better so we can have a high fashion versace show again! the top 6 usually walk in the runway show from what ive read before. i think for spoiler reasons. this is the first time they have showed it in the show. also this was still in the states so i think they had to consider that. people in the audience would be watching the show.

If Laura becomes ANTM, she will be famous, but Nicole will hide somewhere and may like to continue to be a model as she still lose it.
BUT, now Nicole wins, she will continue to rock it out and Laura has everything it takes to be a model and she wants it so badly. So Laura can still be a model and maybe famous,too.

OMG!!!! Whitney only one because it would made tyra's "kiss my fat ass" campaign more believable. Anya was sooooo much better than her. I am from Jacksonville just like Whitney, but fair is only fair. She was not the better model in that cycle. My favorite plus size model has beenToccarra by far. She was even better than Whitney.
I was the same, I flip-flopped between the two of them for THE ENTIRE EPISODE. And yes, I agree, what a horrible choice of outfit for Nicole! Pink on a redhead?! It's not even like the pink is very light, it's rose pink!! Honestly, they should have swapped outfits. I wanted to give Laura a hug, too, she was heartbroken, but I was pleased for Nicole! The look of shock on her face and the way she hugged Tyra like she couldn't believe this was happening, so sweet!

But, HOLY CAMOLE, what the heck were their final judging looks all about?! They looked like they'd been dragged through a hedge, thrown in a wind tunnel, then punched in both eyes. Plus, Nicole's dress was totally the wrong colour for her. They're both so stunning naturally, I was like, WHY, SHOW, WHY?! Maybe Tyra got psychotically jealous.

i love nicole, i think they picked her because its the first season for short models. I was disappointed again with ANTM. I really wanted Laura to win. She's an incredibly likable person, her walk was a lot better (Nicole looked horrible), and she always smiled & never gave up. I did hate how they made it seem like Laura was going to win. They kept talking about how much better she was during panel & at that point, I knew Nicole was going to win. Nicole's reaction when she won was "blah", like I knew it was going to be. Recap Project Runway!
I was thinking that the top two were really awesome so either one would have been good. Nicole won, I was happy for her but when I saw Laura cry, my heart really went out to her. They both deserve succesful modelling careers.
but Eva is 5'7" it's the minimum height to qualify as a contestant on regular ANTM Cycles. Which is why i don't get why they let 5'7" girls on this season.

I think they brought the other girls out because they wanted more petite models in the show so the top two wouldn't stand out as short. As for the runner0up usually being a better model, I absolutely agree, and I think it's because usually they are high-fashion and couture but aren't what Cover Girl or Seventeen want, so they boot them and pick the commercial girl. I think Nicole was just finally a model who could pull off both.
ANTM takes several girls that have already been eliminated to the overseas destination with the top 6 to stop spoilers being so easy to leak. There were photos of Courtney on the beach with the remaining girls in the Surfing challenge, and I remember seeing a photo of Joslyn and Clark in Holland in cycle 11.
It's the same with the final runway. To reduce spoilers lol

I think they might have picked all the models for the runway show cause it was a show with lots of press and people, and it was better to put as many contestants to drown the spoilers.. jst a theory
I agree, I think they kept the final 6 since the "overseas" destination was in America, and there were HUNDREDS of people watching.
That way, although it WOULD give away the top 6 who would be in hawaii, it wouldn't give away the final two girls. Another reason why they made all 6 girls pose in the water at the end.
Also, did anyone else notice that not once during the finale OR the behind the scenes episode did they mention the photoshoot where they had to be bi-racial? Like, they didn't show clips from it, they didn't show any pictures, and they didn't say that it was the photoshoot where Brittany got eliminated? Just sayin'.

the top 5-6 girls have been in the runway shows for the past few seasons. i specifically remember analeigh and marjorie in cycle 11's runway show and katarzyna and fatima in cycle 10's. however, this is the first time they have let the viewers know.

I think Nicole is a great model but I think Laura should've won in the end. I actually shouted at my tv when they called Nicole and the look on Lauras face was heartbreaking!! You can tell she was crushed. It's funny, throughout the episode it seemed to me that Laura was the front runner, comparing what the judges said about both girls. Laura will do fine though, and if not she can come to NYC and be your new roomie, Pat!
i think they put the other girls in the finale as a decoy. helloooo eddie murphys daughter was in the show. he was there. so you have paparazzi trying to get top model news and paparazzi on eddie murphy. runway was also outside. i dont think they shouldve done that though. if i were nicole or laura i wouldve been like, "wtf. i worked hard to get to the last runway challenge and even brittany gets to come back and do it?" maybe just erin and jennifer wouldve sufficed. oh well.congrats to nicole!!
hi pat and carolyn and everyone out there on you tube. i am SUPER happy that nicole won. she was the best of the cycle. overall performance, laura did the best in the runway and photoshoot and thats when i thought she won. and when tyra was going to annouce the winner, i really thought it was laura. i yelled when tyra said nicole's name. i have to agree with both of you 100 percent. i cant wait for cycle 14.
Actually I was rooting for Laura to win. And when she cried after Nicole won, my heart just broke for her :( ... and during her interview, she said her family would be so proud that they wouldn't care she didn't win, you could see that she was really really sad - like, she REALLY wanted it. I think Laura wanted it more than Nicole. :(

i think they were both sorta 'even' in this episode. but throughout the series, portfolios and all, nicole was really really the better model. as for her 'lack of personality', it wasn't a lack. 'that' was her personality -- the awkward girl who really had something special inside her. i'm glad she won - it's not her fault that she's 5'7''. i'm glad the judges did the right thing this time, and not the fake, politically correct one (like anya, still couldn't believe she lost)

I actually really disagree with you guys pat and carolyn. Laura whooped Nicole throughout the entire episode, better commercial and walk. Omg when she took the sheet off her face! Nicole had a better covergirl photo, but their portfolios were even. Don't get me wrong, I love both of them so much and I was just thrilled that they were the final two, but Laura did better this episode, and I feel like she was a bit more relateable than Nicole. Regardless, favorite finale yet!! I love both of them!
I thought Laura's walk was really good and fierce look. You could tell the judges were favouring Nicole when they called Nicole's walk signature when it was really ugly, ungraceful and bad and come on, I LIKE Nicole.
they always have the eliminated models walk the runways. They just don't show it. It is how they prevent spoilers from getting out on who is the final 2. Like in Cycle 11, Analeigh and Sheena were spotted in the final runway by people who attended it.

Actually, even in earlier cycles the eliminated girls are not sent home from the overseas destination. They even send some of the other girls overseas as decoys - this cycle Courtney was seen on the beach in Hawaii during the beach challenge.
Also, in earlier cycles they also had eliminated girls walk the final runway as decoys - They just didn't show them on screen.

guys! Cool fact...they always have the girls who went overseas participate in the final runway show...then they go home together. I have Lauren Utter on FB and she told me that. But they never showed it until now!
besides, they do that in a lot of the other versions of Top Model.

pat, i heard u say in an earlier recap about this being the recession cycle becuz of tyra shooting twice, no 4th judge etc, but when i saw the last 4 eliminated girls walk in the runway show i thought OH SHIT! DEFINITELY THE RECESSION CYCLE, and also im sure she wanted to give these short girls who prolly wont work a lot more exposure.... and this way they didnt have to pay real models for the show! i hope the economy gets better so we can have a high fashion versace show again! the top 6 usually walk in the runway show from what ive read before. i think for spoiler reasons. this is the first time they have showed it in the show. also this was still in the states so i think they had to consider that. people in the audience would be watching the show.

Here is my hypothesis:
If Laura becomes ANTM, she will be famous, but Nicole will hide somewhere and may like to continue to be a model as she still lose it.
BUT, now Nicole wins, she will continue to rock it out and Laura has everything it takes to be a model and she wants it so badly. So Laura can still be a model and maybe famous,too.
Most importantly, Nicole will be a role model for both shortiees and awkwardies. Congradulations, Nicole!!!

OMG!!!! Whitney only one because it would made tyra's "kiss my fat ass" campaign more believable. Anya was sooooo much better than her. I am from Jacksonville just like Whitney, but fair is only fair. She was not the better model in that cycle. My favorite plus size model has beenToccarra by far. She was even better than Whitney.

I was the same, I flip-flopped between the two of them for THE ENTIRE EPISODE. And yes, I agree, what a horrible choice of outfit for Nicole! Pink on a redhead?! It's not even like the pink is very light, it's rose pink!! Honestly, they should have swapped outfits. I wanted to give Laura a hug, too, she was heartbroken, but I was pleased for Nicole! The look of shock on her face and the way she hugged Tyra like she couldn't believe this was happening, so sweet!

I knew I would be torn whoever won, because I think they're both great, genuinely nice and inspiring girls.
But, HOLY CAMOLE, what the heck were their final judging looks all about?! They looked like they'd been dragged through a hedge, thrown in a wind tunnel, then punched in both eyes. Plus, Nicole's dress was totally the wrong colour for her. They're both so stunning naturally, I was like, WHY, SHOW, WHY?! Maybe Tyra got psychotically jealous.

I was disappointed again with ANTM. I really wanted Laura to win. She's an incredibly likable person, her walk was a lot better (Nicole looked horrible), and she always smiled & never gave up. I did hate how they made it seem like Laura was going to win. They kept talking about how much better she was during panel & at that point, I knew Nicole was going to win. Nicole's reaction when she won was "blah", like I knew it was going to be. Recap Project Runway!

I think they brought the other girls out because they wanted more petite models in the show so the top two wouldn't stand out as short. As for the runner0up usually being a better model, I absolutely agree, and I think it's because usually they are high-fashion and couture but aren't what Cover Girl or Seventeen want, so they boot them and pick the commercial girl. I think Nicole was just finally a model who could pull off both.

ANTM takes several girls that have already been eliminated to the overseas destination with the top 6 to stop spoilers being so easy to leak. There were photos of Courtney on the beach with the remaining girls in the Surfing challenge, and I remember seeing a photo of Joslyn and Clark in Holland in cycle 11.
It's the same with the final runway. To reduce spoilers lol

I agree, I think they kept the final 6 since the "overseas" destination was in America, and there were HUNDREDS of people watching.
That way, although it WOULD give away the top 6 who would be in hawaii, it wouldn't give away the final two girls. Another reason why they made all 6 girls pose in the water at the end.

I think Nicole is a great model but I think Laura should've won in the end. I actually shouted at my tv when they called Nicole and the look on Lauras face was heartbreaking!! You can tell she was crushed. It's funny, throughout the episode it seemed to me that Laura was the front runner, comparing what the judges said about both girls. Laura will do fine though, and if not she can come to NYC and be your new roomie, Pat!

i think they put the other girls in the finale as a decoy. helloooo eddie murphys daughter was in the show. he was there. so you have paparazzi trying to get top model news and paparazzi on eddie murphy. runway was also outside. i dont think they shouldve done that though. if i were nicole or laura i wouldve been like, "wtf. i worked hard to get to the last runway challenge and even brittany gets to come back and do it?" maybe just erin and jennifer wouldve sufficed. oh well.congrats to nicole!!

hi pat and carolyn and everyone out there on you tube. i am SUPER happy that nicole won. she was the best of the cycle. overall performance, laura did the best in the runway and photoshoot and thats when i thought she won. and when tyra was going to annouce the winner, i really thought it was laura. i yelled when tyra said nicole's name. i have to agree with both of you 100 percent. i cant wait for cycle 14.

Actually I was rooting for Laura to win. And when she cried after Nicole won, my heart just broke for her :( ... and during her interview, she said her family would be so proud that they wouldn't care she didn't win, you could see that she was really really sad - like, she REALLY wanted it. I think Laura wanted it more than Nicole. :(

i was happy Nicole won. soooo sad Laura didn't. I'm so uneasy about this, they're both REALLY good. the thing is, all the other seasons have tall girls, anyone who's really good already has a job!! DUH! but the short girls have no chance really unless they're RIDICULOUSLY amazing...SO, they're both reallyyy good

I think ANTM made them stay, so they didnt have to HIRE petite models to be in the show (laura and nicole can't be the only petite ones, COME ONNN) SO antm made them stay so they don't have to pay them. GOTTA SAVE THAT MONEY!

i think they were both sorta 'even' in this episode. but throughout the series, portfolios and all, nicole was really really the better model. as for her 'lack of personality', it wasn't a lack. 'that' was her personality -- the awkward girl who really had something special inside her. i'm glad she won - it's not her fault that she's 5'7''. i'm glad the judges did the right thing this time, and not the fake, politically correct one (like anya, still couldn't believe she lost)

I was thrilled - she's been my fav since day one. and when people didn't accept her, that made me want her to win all the more. She is absolutely gorgeous and unique. Laura is wonderful too. I actually really disagree with you guys pat and carolyn. Laura whooped Nicole throughout the entire episode, better commercial and walk. Omg when she took the sheet off her face! Nicole had a better covergirl photo, but their portfolios were even. Don't get me wrong, I love both of them so much and I was just thrilled that they were the final two, but Laura did better this episode, and I feel like she was a bit more relateable than Nicole. Regardless, favorite finale yet!! I love both of them!

I thought Laura's walk was really good and fierce look. You could tell the judges were favouring Nicole when they called Nicole's walk signature when it was really ugly, ungraceful and bad and come on, I LIKE Nicole.

they always have the eliminated models walk the runways. They just don't show it. It is how they prevent spoilers from getting out on who is the final 2. Like in Cycle 11, Analeigh and Sheena were spotted in the final runway by people who attended it.

does anyone else think it's weird nicole won? i loved laura, and nicole was the better model of the two. however, this was supposed to be about petite models. nicole is taller than eva, she was 5'6''. nicole could have competed on a regular cycle... they should have made it 5'6'' and under.... it's usually 5'7'' and up. i don't know, just thought it was a little odd that a regular cycle winner is shorter than the winner of the short girls cycle
