I'm fairly certain this is a pre-rendered cutscene. It's a trailer, not gameplay. When it comes out, it will most likely be an overhyped barely polished piece of garbage. There is no evidence that the company is even making this game. This is vaporware. The Mechwarrior game franchise is dead.

when i look at the warhammer in the video and i look at the foreigner counterpart, its easy to tell the difference. would i miss the warhammer and other unseen if they had to cut them? not really. but this whole thing is just silly.
and wow the detail is amazing! as he's walking by, the car on the parking deck hops from the shock of his steps, and when the missiles hit the deck the railing next to him bends outward... sick! I hope they release some clan mechs though if it's all 3015 era I'll be a little bit disappointed

I don't think this game is coming out. They got sued for copyright infringement by robotec or something like that two years ago so the production stopped.
@TheLackofattack I know it looks really awesome and the mechwarrior genre was one of my favorites. There are other great games I'm waiting for like Skyrim but it's been many years since the last mechwarrior incarnation and I would love to see it come back to life.

What I want to see come back is something like Mechcommander, only on a bigger scale. The battletech universe is huge yet each game only shows small fights on small planets. I want somthing where you get to command the space fleets and the mech armies. That would be great.
Wow,never knew an Autocannon/10 could fire that fast. Normally it woudl take five-ten seconds to reload the next shell and fire,this thing fired one ever 2.5 seconds (yes,i have been keeping track i think.).

@TheManOfVeal Well, maybe they can avoid that issue by using the newly-designed `Mechs from the "Project Phoenix" Technical Readout. The Warhammer pretty much looks the same still and only the Marauder now has normal legs but that´s about the biggest change.
But I agree to BlueBlade777 that the guys that hold the RoboTech franchise should rather watch and wait.
Who knows? It might revive the entire thing along the way, too.

Alot of gamers nowadays couldn't handle an epic game like this. Look at Chromehounds, people don't have enough attention to customize and work in tactical groups without being able to hide for a few seconds and regan health.

I gave Smith and Tinker a call personally and the word from them is that the game is still in legal limbo, but the game is definitely NOT been abandoned.
I don't know if I trust Jordan...he's bailed on the Battletech franchise not once, but twice now. I think this may come out, and if it does, it probably won't do very well considering half of the BT fans are being left out given the year this takes place >.> Oh well, here's to hoping!
The graphics are INCREDIBLE. OK... They're not so good by modern (L4D2) standards, but they are by far THE BEST graphics of ANY mech-themed game. And in terms of realism, this game will REALLY give Steel Battalion a run for it's money!
@OmegablueWolf Actually, Harmony Gold did indeed go ballistic over this trailer. In fact, they had all instances of the trailer removed from YouTube and elsewhere. I think this one was uploaded sometime after the purge. Why there wasn't a second purge after all this time is unknown to me. Perhaps Smith and Tinker/Piranha Games and Harmony Gold came to an understanding of some kind?

Nothing quite as EPIC as using a locust to take out a Battlemaster..hehe. I was also i big time player in FASA's Battletech centers, you just cant beat being in a full cockpit with over 80 buttons, toggles, switches n foot pedals, and none of them being just for show...here is hoping this comes out soon and rocks as much as this vid does!!!
@Gallowell actually the original battle tech game came out on 5.25 disk it had all the orignal fasa mechs there was no clan yet and the strongest wep was a PPC you could play a locust up to an atlas which also included the battlemaster a true benchmark for its time. I remember getting the game and loading its 15 disks just t play.
@Darkanthys I never had the luxury to play the first game, and was a little young for the table-top at the time, so I started in it from 31C Combat upwards.
I never was sure about the Locust. It's a pretty good 'mech, but I always found it difficult to fight with.
@Gallowell Believe me it was def intresting they incooperated salvage rights and everything. However when you lost a leg that was it, that sorti was done for you so it came down to blow off a mechs leg to salvage as much as you could. The major advantage of the locust in that game was its size and speed it only came up to the waist of most mechs making it easier to hit the legs and most torso mounted weapons couldnt hit you when you got in close.

@graem3 PPC blasts are sometimes described as "man-made lightning", so I daresay this interpretation of PPCs is "more correct" than that of Mechwarrior 2, where PPCs hurled fairly slow-moving balls of bluish-white plasma. As for the battlemech, it's definitely a -6R Warhammer. Otherwise, I don't think Harmony Gold would have gone ballistic like they did over this video.
the strength of the engine is not based on what year it came out. this "outdated" game engine still manages to pump out some of the best graphics of any game. If you remember that the quake and the half-life engines ran for YEARS after they came out.
you do realize that far cry engine is only dx9 with shader model 2.0 support. what would you expect that it will bring us a modern graphic power? and this vid was simply just a run time demo with max aa feature that's all
because as long as the game ... the GAME can deliver fantastic gameplay it doesn't need your so called new generation graphics. how many of the very best games make due with engine's that are slightly out of date but robust enough to deliver what the designers need it to deliver?

portal was mdae from source 1.2 engine that also use in hl2 ep2, which it's totally different from the one that use in lost caost. and l4d is using 1.3(also on mirror's edge) and l4d2 is 1.31. so technically they aint outdated since source engine is more flexable and update frequently.

i think mw series will have long way to catch the "modern graphic". wow may be "outdated" but it's mmorpg which will have to be suit in each generation of platform(you can run it on machine as old as pentium 2). also scaling issue as well will crash the server due to gigantic amount texture data if use the modern dx11 graphic.... and it will turn your pc really laggy when alot of player in the game due to the mmorpg's bad scaling. so do not compare wow to mw5...

Agreed, licenses, copyrights and patents have been abused time and again by leeches, speculative squatters, loosers and sometimes crooks whose intention is to prevent a competing tech/product, these should be much shorter than today and quickly made void if unused.
the mech on the building is Jenner, much like a medium class of clan mech. the big one is no doubt, Atlas 100tons of innersphere assault mech which popular wif its bulky heavy armor & of coz tons of weaponry plus its IFF jammer which jammed enemy's sensor. well as for the main pilot's mech, it's Warhammer. im not familiar wif this prototype, but it much looks like Thor @ Loki. Anyway, this newly edition of mechwarrior is called Mechwarrior Reboot.

It's a Warhammer, actually, the -6R model. Two PPCs, two medium lasers, two machine guns, two small lasers, and an SRM6. The two Mauler variants that I know of use Level 2 tech (Star League advanced tech) and don't carry PPCs, and as this is 3015, the Helm memory core hasn't been yet, meaning no Star League tech in common use.
Gotta nerd out here: Wold Dragoons first entered the intersphere in 3005. So yes, they are here. But during 3015 (i think the speculated timeline) they were working for House Marik, which would put them on the other side of the galaxy. NOT that it could stop the game designers from adding them anyways, Canon be damned.
which is f'n AWESOME! I really hope they can re-launch the franchise correctly. Build an awesome looking game with strong gameplay, but also taking advantage of Battletech's great story archs and intriguing characters.
If done right, this should lead not only to a series of great games, but also a summer blockbuster or two!

Alot of gamers nowadays couldn't handle an epic game like this. Look at Chromehounds, people don't have enough attention to customize and work in tactical groups without being able to hide for a few seconds and regan health.

@Maple1Pirate if it existed, yes, mechwarrior/battletech fans are worse than starwars fans, there's a ton of killer lore that goes way back with it all, and it feels much more real in the previous games than any of the armored core stuff, don't know about gundam tho.

The graphics are INCREDIBLE. OK... They're not so good by modern (L4D2) standards, but they are by far THE BEST graphics of ANY mech-themed game. And in terms of realism, this game will REALLY give Steel Battalion a run for it's money!

@OmegablueWolf Actually, Harmony Gold did indeed go ballistic over this trailer. In fact, they had all instances of the trailer removed from YouTube and elsewhere. I think this one was uploaded sometime after the purge. Why there wasn't a second purge after all this time is unknown to me. Perhaps Smith and Tinker/Piranha Games and Harmony Gold came to an understanding of some kind?

WOW how far the Mechwarrior series has come!! I can remember hacking into the computers in my schools library to run the original Mechwarrior!!
Nothing quite as EPIC as using a locust to take out a Battlemaster..hehe. I was also i big time player in FASA's Battletech centers, you just cant beat being in a full cockpit with over 80 buttons, toggles, switches n foot pedals, and none of them being just for show...here is hoping this comes out soon and rocks as much as this vid does!!!

@Gallowell actually the original battle tech game came out on 5.25 disk it had all the orignal fasa mechs there was no clan yet and the strongest wep was a PPC you could play a locust up to an atlas which also included the battlemaster a true benchmark for its time. I remember getting the game and loading its 15 disks just t play.

@Darkanthys I never had the luxury to play the first game, and was a little young for the table-top at the time, so I started in it from 31C Combat upwards.
I never was sure about the Locust. It's a pretty good 'mech, but I always found it difficult to fight with.

@Gallowell Believe me it was def intresting they incooperated salvage rights and everything. However when you lost a leg that was it, that sorti was done for you so it came down to blow off a mechs leg to salvage as much as you could. The major advantage of the locust in that game was its size and speed it only came up to the waist of most mechs making it easier to hit the legs and most torso mounted weapons couldnt hit you when you got in close.

first the storm crow is a 55 ton mech placing it at the top end of MEDIUM mechs and not light mechs.
Second The battle master was the only assualt mech aviable in the orginal Mechwarrior series not mech 2/3/4.

As well, I thought the main guy's 'mech here looked like a Hellbringer although I can see the differences. Did they replace the Warbringer with the Hellbringer?

@graem3 PPC blasts are sometimes described as "man-made lightning", so I daresay this interpretation of PPCs is "more correct" than that of Mechwarrior 2, where PPCs hurled fairly slow-moving balls of bluish-white plasma. As for the battlemech, it's definitely a -6R Warhammer. Otherwise, I don't think Harmony Gold would have gone ballistic like they did over this video.

the strength of the engine is not based on what year it came out. this "outdated" game engine still manages to pump out some of the best graphics of any game. If you remember that the quake and the half-life engines ran for YEARS after they came out.

portal was mdae from source 1.2 engine that also use in hl2 ep2, which it's totally different from the one that use in lost caost. and l4d is using 1.3(also on mirror's edge) and l4d2 is 1.31. so technically they aint outdated since source engine is more flexable and update frequently.

i think mw series will have long way to catch the "modern graphic". wow may be "outdated" but it's mmorpg which will have to be suit in each generation of platform(you can run it on machine as old as pentium 2). also scaling issue as well will crash the server due to gigantic amount texture data if use the modern dx11 graphic.... and it will turn your pc really laggy when alot of player in the game due to the mmorpg's bad scaling. so do not compare wow to mw5...

the mech on the building is Jenner, much like a medium class of clan mech. the big one is no doubt, Atlas 100tons of innersphere assault mech which popular wif its bulky heavy armor & of coz tons of weaponry plus its IFF jammer which jammed enemy's sensor. well as for the main pilot's mech, it's Warhammer. im not familiar wif this prototype, but it much looks like Thor @ Loki. Anyway, this newly edition of mechwarrior is called Mechwarrior Reboot.

It's a Warhammer, actually, the -6R model. Two PPCs, two medium lasers, two machine guns, two small lasers, and an SRM6. The two Mauler variants that I know of use Level 2 tech (Star League advanced tech) and don't carry PPCs, and as this is 3015, the Helm memory core hasn't been yet, meaning no Star League tech in common use.

Gotta nerd out here: Wold Dragoons first entered the intersphere in 3005. So yes, they are here. But during 3015 (i think the speculated timeline) they were working for House Marik, which would put them on the other side of the galaxy. NOT that it could stop the game designers from adding them anyways, Canon be damned.

which is f'n AWESOME! I really hope they can re-launch the franchise correctly. Build an awesome looking game with strong gameplay, but also taking advantage of Battletech's great story archs and intriguing characters.
If done right, this should lead not only to a series of great games, but also a summer blockbuster or two!
