what is the guy on the middle playing? it looks like a keyboard but has strings and sounds like a electric guitar

Its a steel guitar. Its very popular in country western but it is also known to be used in various types of blues and gospel.

i was lucky enough to see them for free in sioux falls. great energy, great music , and great guys. they let me go back stage to hang out with them. they are awesome.
