  • Cor! What tasty playing!

  • As I listen to the music in a holistic way I find the guitar hero discussion below tiresome and therefore I wouldn't forget to mention the other musicians and the lyrics.

  • Don't believe I ever get tired of this music. It both express really swinging variations together with lyrics that all together catch me/you in a happy blues mood. First discovered him in the summer of 2009 and still only have the record "Siftin' thru' ashes" so far. Matts and his musicians deliver the best music I ever heard and I listen to lot's of other stuff than blues.

  • Hi I wish you success

  • Fuck this swings.

  • Rminds me Warren Haynes but in a good way.Nice shuffle Blues!

  • Yes, Rory Gallagher was one of the true greats of guitar. Saw him 'live' a couple of times, from the front row, just incredible, one of the most natural guitarists ever, and such a sad loss to music. Can't say that Matt is quite in that league, as yet anyway, but he's a great talent for sure. I know not many will agree, but I actually think John Mayer is a very good player with a good sound and feel. Better than Bonnamassa by a long way. Just because Mayer is too handsome creates jelousy.

  • Heard him on public radio/KLRR Liked his blues licks and looked him up! Great Fender Bender!

  • saw this guy open up for derek truck a year ago, haven't stopped listening non stop since

  • That's proper blues guitar, very nice! Much better than massively over-rated Joe Bonnamassa who in my opinion is utter crap and just plays blues by numbers with awful tone, awful vibrato and awful note choices. This, on the other hand, is the real deal!

  • @guitarmaan Thank God that someone else is brave enough to go against the grain of Joe Bonamassa worship. The dude has no soul or originality, just recycles licks all the time. And also he'd done the exact same stage show for about 5 years at least. This kid is actually thinking and phrasing and playing from the heart. Good on him.

  • @nickwellings i agree as well, bonamassa has little expression, he's technically good, but he has no personality with the instrument. fuck all feel. does anybody listen to the late great rory gallagher. the most under rated guitarist of all time in my opinion. listen to "walk on hot coals" irish tour 74, the full version

  • @guitarmaan he might be over-rated compared to other great but unknown artists, but if you think his tone is bad, go see a doctor ?

  • I have seen this man about ten times and he is a wonder, last time at the 100club oxford street. Also the "legendery" John Henderson on keys is superb!

  • @delavalhall The band has never sounded quite as good since Evan stopped playing drums for matt though.

  • he's actually more innovative than Robben Ford in my opinion..RF can be very predictable

  • best thing I've heard since SRV: intense vibrato, flawless, technique, jazzy lines (the whole Robben Ford library) and neverending ideas - btw: also superb vocals... to me a new blues superstar after being bored by all those wannabes

  • Forget the gear u guys, its all in the hands.

  • Forget the gear u guys.....its all in the hands.

  • The good quality equipment make you a better musician cause the good quality inspire the player!!!!!!

  • I was at the New Road Studio when Matt played at the Lester Butler Tribute! He signed a cd at P60 Amstelveen opening for Jan Akkerman, we talked a bit, and he is very honest and sincere. Deserves to be at the Top.

  • groovy

  • he sounds great! great tone! he looks and plays like robben ford

  • Love it, he is fantastic..... blues guitar needed someone like this badly!

  • awesome!!

  • Heard this fellow on the Paul jones show and imediately downloaded the latest cd which is unusual for me. Hes really great, what I like is that his technique isn't that studied and his licks are not that tricky..... B U T his soul and fluidity is second to none: the way he mixes srv, robbilard, burrell and many other subliminal "guitar vocabulary" is awesome.

Good kit just makes top notch better

  • doesn't matter what amp he's playing thru... the tone is coming from his fingers

  • A little Fordish Collinish Kingish Vaughnish whaterish its still Matt Scholfild.DIG IT!

  • no no not fordish, robben he sings like a girl, which isn't a bad thing either, love em all..

  • Well, I was just about to write that this is a bit mainstream since it is just the kind of music which was played in my hanging around place years ago. Only to discover from the related vids list that this guy actually played there as well. Maybe it's just that this band and that place are both special.

  • I like him from the bedinning

    Ferry Fassaert drums

  • I love how he is king of swinging a little a bit at the beginning. that's smooth. amazing tone too.

  • Its very nice, but little bit robben fordish

  • Yes, and I love it 'cause he also has that jazzy-bluesy sound. Robben is one of his biggest influences, but he has his own style, voice and sound. I love it!

  • Two Rock. Is that a rip-off of a Dumble amp?

  • pretty much yeah but at a more affordable price. Matt Schofield played at my college for a workshop and had a two rock. Sounded absolutely amazing!

  • No, it is not a "rip-off" of a Dumble amp; they share certain sonic similarities.

  • Comment removed

  • And you are? ..... not on the deal

  • it's not the amp vibe.....it's the players tone!

  • The Two-Rock Custom Reverb Signature is more of a Dumble Bluesmaster meets a Fender circuit.

  • my dad's band is supporting him on the 24th of June in Poole :)

  • every guitarist ive heard so far with a two-rock amp seems to be amazing!...

  • Well, they do sound great. But It´s usually pretty dedicated musicians who pay between 4000 - 10 000 dollars for an amp.

  • Good observation...

  • @02ajack Well, if a guitarist who plays music for a living can afford a two-rock off his salary, he's probably really amazing. Lol.

  • @02ajack john mayer ,schofield,b.b king, eric clapton, buddy guy.. LIVING LEGENDS OF BLUES!! THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • @aaronjordan010388

john mayer.. plx no i dont agree at all..

  • @Vladiniho no prob thats your opinion.. but mayer proved it he can..

  • @aaronjordan010388 i'm no guitar player, (drummer ^^), but even i know john mayer does NOT belong in that list...

  • @aaronjordan010388 minus john mayer, plus a fuck load of others like rory gallagher srv, robert johnson , peter green. please john mayer is no good copie cat with very little creativity, stole his style from srv.plus i think eric clapton is the most overated guitarist ever.

  • @clerkhog O'rly?

  • @StockholmSyndrome08 well im a bit harsh on clapton but mayer is a pile of pop dog shit who should not be mentioned in the same breath as these guys. just because he's famous, because most his fans are girls, does not mean he's a good guitarist. he does nothing new. so yes is your answer

  • @StockholmSyndrome08 oh your a fan boy, oh well each to there own. dont get upset cause i dont like john mayer. i just think guys who pionnered blues guitar deserve the plaudits, not some dude who copied them, and does not add to it. scohfield does, he has feel. listen to son house "death letter" and then listen to mayer. one is pure blues and the other is not.

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks for posting:)

  • damn that is a great tone.

  • amazing!!!!

  • Matt For President!!!

  • love his tone

  • nice. good tone too. those two rocks are expensive but worth it.

  • Easy MOR listening for the older gentleman who likes a quiet pint. Inoffensive enough but the hairs on the back of my neck are not standing up.

  • he is english? ooooooo! he sounds a bit like robben ford. gets my vote

  • tasty, tasty, tasty player..... I hadn't heard of Matt Schofield but I have now.... I'll favourite this!

  • awesome

  • Possibly the UK's best blues guitarist...and thank God he's no SRV wannabee like some of the other young guns doing the rounds!

  • so true, he deserves a bigger stage

  • ucan hear the influence in his playing tho, just like everybody other fast blues player doin the rounds, he's definitely copped a few srv licks in his time. if u wana hear something more original and interesting i suggest u direct ur attention to mr stephen dale petit

  • Oops. Sorry, I meant to click on the thumbs up (not down). Me and my brother were discussing the fact that Matt is so diverse in his style. I'm sure he draws something from his influences, but like you said he doesn't have that (rather annoying) obvious SRV-thing going. Great guitarist, hope to see him some day in Finland.

  • lol you thinking about john mayer?

  • yeah. just about similarities between the amps sound and john's sound. it's interesting how much you can tell the fingers actually affect the tone.

  • @PeteTelecasters no he's a robben ford clone

  • @PeteTelecasters

true, but I tell you; he's a R. Ford wannabe! He even got the looks! Heh. But thats blues, everybody's steeling from one another.

  • refreshing :)

  • Matt surely is a rising force in Blues. He will be huge one day. He should be Huge NOW. Not to take anything away from Jonny or Evan. All top notch players!

Matt inspired me to purchase a Two-Rock Custom Reverb which I get this week... :-)

  • you LUCKY! how much did THAT run you up?

  • Not sure if I replied. Roughly $7,000 Then you don't buy a 7K amp and not get ATA cases for it for another $800 or so.... Best sounding amp and built to last a lifetime.

  • very good

  • WOW! i luv !

  • great great great.

    R.A.V.

  • where di u get this vid, and wheres the rest, he is amazing!
