So let me get this straight 1st should I connect my HDMI Cable to the Tv while ps3 is on standby (Power button red) then take off my AV Cable (Componet/Scart Cable), then hold the Power button till i hear 2 beeps then switch my Tv to HDMI and the message comes up ithat HDMI is detected plz reply

@CanUsayPapaya it depends on the tv you have. some tv's require you to change to channel, others will need you to change to source. If you have a samsung, press "source" on you remote and change it to hdmi.

Okay my ps3 says HDMI chord is detected and asks if I want to use it. I say "yes of course, ps3 you silly goose". The screen goes black, fine. I go to HDMI source, it changes from 480p to 1080p, signaling it works I guess, but there's still a black screen. I waited for so long, I grew a beard. Any idea why this is happening?

U dont have to hold down the power button when u connect the hdmi cable it will detect it on its on as soon as u turn the ps3 on,u only have to do it when u connect the av cord after using a hdmi cable.
