I just got this on the wii. 1988-1999 Golden Age of Media. Turn on some del the funky homosapien No need for alarm and get cracking for the top score. Fuck Call of duty and games that look better than real life. Its all about the pixels and the points.

One of the things I love about the Neo Geo hardware is the sound system. This may be an oversimplification, but for all accounts and purposes, the Neo Geo sound system was basically a Genesis sound system -AND- an SNES sound system working in concert. What you get as a result of this, is basically what sounds like an SNES and Genesis performing a duet. I -love- the Neo Geo for that, especially early games like this one. The later games tried to sound more like CD-Rom and lost some of that magic.

I had this system when it first came out. The core system was 399.99 and the gold system was 549.99 and the games ranged from 189.99 to 219.99 each. This game was one of the 219.99 er's. Those were crazy prices for 1990 but then again nothing I mean nothing even came close.

I greatly appreciate seeing this here! I wanted this game for about 18 years, and could never find it or a Neo-Geo. But now I bought this about on PS2, 2 days ago.

And I play the daylights out of it. Very hard, very challenging. No way you can avoid getting hit or dying. Stage 1 and stage 4 got the best music!!! LoL

Playing this game makes me think, "What would the Castlevania games look like, if SNK made them back in the 1990s??"

I remember this game was packed with my Neo-Geo. I have never been able to beat it. I remember getting really far into the game and thinking "is THIS the last level?"...No. It was a long and challenging game. Thank whoever for those damn memory cards. I wonder if I still have the last level saved on my memory card. Maybe I'll hook up the Neo-Geo this weekend and try to finally beat this game after over 15-years.

Neo Geo was way ahead of it's time. It wasn't until the Sega Dreamcast came out that a system had better 2d graphics.  Also, it had CD quality sound despite being a cartridge.

Voices in a video game were a technological miracle when this came out. It may have been bad voice acting, but for the voice to be so clear rather than some goofy sounding muffled electronic sounding crap, this would've made me piss my pants back in the day.

I have been a gamer ever since I had my first atari and I still dedicate a lot of time to gaming on my wii and ps3, but I have never had so much fun as I had with Magician Lord (and Baseball Stars)... I hoped for a sequel of this game my whole life!

Well done! At my best (years ago in the arcades, when the game was new!), I used to play like this.  I totally agree that it's REALLY tough in spots -- a few mistakes can completely screw up a well-played game. Love to see more, when you can!
