  • @Violetstreak1321 @AMMindfreaksisters @alliep2013 I tried out too! :D I made it past district and region. Pre-area is in a few weeks. :D

  • I tried out for region too. Our cuts were from He's got the whole world, the russian song and this song. I made it too :) But in the treble choir we don't even get to do Daemon, Sure on this shining night or any of the other songs we learned except this one. We get new songs. Blehhhh

And AMMindfreaksisters, the competition is run by TMEA, which is specifically for Texas. That's why all the songs are the same.

  • @AMMindfreaksisters OMGGGGGGGGGGGG this may be creepy but I live in texas and i am trying out with those exact same songs :D

  • @alliep2013 i wonder how many high schools are trying out with those songs.....O.O

  • me and my chorus sang this, and you guys sound just like we did ! we could never perform this at a competition or anything because this song isnt rated but we performed it for people and it was the most amazing thing ever, this song is so gorgeous and it sounds even more amazing when you hear it in person rather than a video, but you guys sound beautiful.

  • Singing this song guarantees an amazing night =] never fails.

  • The ladies in our schools chamber choir sang this for solo ensemble and got a superior rating its one of my all time favorites

  • This is my absolute favorite version of this song! Who wrote it do you know? My choir sang this song as well that is why i am wondering.

  • I believe it was written by Z. Randall Stroope

  • Nice song but poor recording.

  • great job!

  • Beautiful, beautiful ladies. I absolutely love this song. Our women's chorale did this song, and I was moved to tears. You guys are very close to replicating them. Keep up the good work.

  • My choir sang thing last year. Beautiful beautiful piece

  • omg we're singing this on our high school concert too! :]

  • HCHS!??! as in Hope Christian High School?

  • I'm sorry- what the recording quality did to this was just too, too cruel.

  • My Choir just sang this song!!

  • this song is sooooo fun to sing even if you're not religious :D

  • A Song-Psalms like this could touch Millions.

A shaky camera from 100 feet away does

not capture the beauty. We can do better?

    GodTVGodTube YouTube is a Ministry

  • I cannot believe the recording stopped at such a powerful moment! My favorite part! However, this is a wonderful performance nonetheless:)

  • Just how many settings of Psalm 23 are there? I've lost count of the tunes it's been set to!

Clickon to see my favourite Bible verse.

  • I sang this last year in treble choir; it's one of the most beautiful pieces I've done. Although for the actual concert, I played the oboe solo transposed on the clarinet. :)

  • Composed by Dr. Z. Randall Stroope only for SSAA. for those who still asking. amazing man and work brings tears everytime i hear it.

  • thanks so much. i was just going to post that question. and yeah, the song is beautiful.

  • Yes.... this is absolutely beautiful music, the voices and flute are just wonderful.....

    Too bad it's cut short.

I would have liked to hear the rest.

    I can only imagine.

  • I'm agnostic, but I like this song anyway. =]

It goes to show that you don't have to be religious to enjoy religious music.

  • Of course You don't have to be religious to enjoy Christian music . I used to be agnostic too, I was drawn to Christian Faith by its art and music. The greates works of classical music have religious inspiration , maybe with excepetion of Beethoven ( who believed in personal God anyway ). Today's ungodly culture is decadent and depressing ,when I listen to the most of contemporary music , it only wants to commit suicide. But read "The case for Christ" by Lee Strobel , if you are sceptical .

  • my choir took this song to Europe. It was GORGEOUS!!!

  • My director put this song into the best meaning for us while we sang it. We did a set of I am not yours, Weep no more and then Psalm 23. Its a song of forgiveness. "The lord anoints me, guards me, Guides me" That says it all. No matter what you go through in life, be it commiting sin or loosing someone, God will always be there for forgive you and love you no matter what.

I cry everytime i sing this song, second soprano thank you! :)

Your choir did amazing by the way, Great job.

  • since you can not take the truth to heart because you are spiritually dead God will deal with you face-to-face. Does not matter whether you believe there is God in heaven or not. You will meet him either way. Believe it or not every knee will bow including yours. You will see.

  • phlios2006 Jesus said blessed you who believe. I have never seen Jesus but I have heard his voice. Chirstainity is relationship not religion. His proof of his existence you question?? Stop beathing and see if you don't call God. We believe by faith. Faith in the God of heaven who created us. I would not believe in a false god. Repent and take Christ at his word.

  • Well, I've already stopped breathing, and I haven't called jesus all the same... If you don't believe in any god, then you don' t believe, that's it. And no, you don't "need" to believe, I don't, and I live a perfectly fine life, thank you...

Which doesn't prevent me from enjoying good music :)

  • When you talk about Jesus, you seem to know every word he said, every move he made, yet his historical existence is very much in doubt. All the evidence you have, by independent historians, is a mere couple of sentences. Peace !!

  • I END!

  • You are blind if you think God only picks certain people to be saved and certain people to go to hell. By the way theri are two sets of the elect. The jews and the church. True some people will reject Christ love byt he died for all. NOT CERTAIN PEOPLES. I WILL END ON THIS.

  • Romans 9 read it. It answers your questions. the unbelieving jews are not elect. the ones who Christ gives faith to, because faith is a gift, not of works least anyone should boast. they obtained faith or salvation not by their own free will. God loved Jacob and hated Eseu even before they were born.

  • elect defined using the dictionary.

    1. To select by vote for an office or for membership.

    2. To pick out; select: elect an art course.

    3. To decide, especially by preference: elected to take the summer off.

    4. To select by divine will for salvation. Used of God.

  • Remember what God told moses, I will have mercy on whom i will, and i will harden whom I will. this is very important. If you miss this you miss what the bible says about who God is.

  • Are you blind, Did you not even read Romans Chapter 9. In the verse you refer to I ask you to examine the word world. you think it means everyone. But it only includes the world as refering to the elect in the world. It is because you think you have a free will to believe in Christ or not. but no where does the bible teach this.

  • Surely you are not suggesting Chirst choose only a few to be saved. That is a false teaching. May be you need to read this: The God so loved the WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTON SON--THAT WHO SO EVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. READ IT--BELIEVE IT. Don't take what some one preaches search the scriptures for yourself. Not being ugly just telling the truth.

  • My choir just performed this at festival - it was amazing! I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • If you are indeed speaking about Christ he died for all of us, and anyone who calls on the name of Jesus shall be saved.

  • Christ died only for the elect. Read your bible and then look at chapter 9 of Romans. God loved Jacob and hated Eseu even before they were born.

  • amazing song. not the best video quality, but i dont care. its still my favorite womens choir song.

  • demonMaiden you said you are not christain. Christ will receive you. All you do is believe and ask. He loves you so much he died for you. these are songs of his praise and glory.

  • how do you know he did for demonmaiden he died only for the elect.

  • My choir is singing this right now, I love it. I'm playing clarinet (the oboe part transposed) instead of singing, but the alto part=Love.

  • Oh mann! My choir is singing this exact piece.

I'm not christian or anything, but I still think this is the prettiest one we have for our concert.

    (I'm an alto at GWHHS.)

  • Wow, Dr. Lynn Gackle must absolutly love this song. I was accepted into All-State Womens Choir in SC last year and she was our director. And of course we sang this. And believe me, it was beautiful. I started crying right there on stage during our performance. I mean, I wasn't bawling, but you know, the normal like getting teary-eyed and such. It was beautiful. I wish there was a video of our group singing this. We listened to it on the CD they made and once again, I cried. It's amazing.

  • my choir is singing this for UIL this year and the moment I heard the oboe and flute my eyes started to water. this song is so beautifl. also this is a beautifully done.

  • I was also at IMEA All-State and part of the treble choir. You guys do a wonderful job...just hearing the first 2 seconds gives me goosebumps. Such a powerful song.

  • Idaho IMEA All-State treble choir sang this same arrangement just two days ago under the direction of Dr. Lynn Gackle (AMAZING woman!!), and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard! My choir was about 100-ish girls, and I started BAWLING at the second "surely goodness and mercy shall follow"-yep, right in the middle of the concert. This was a beautiful rendition,too-thank you!

  • My choir is doing this right now, and every time we hit that part, I have to fight the tears. Life hasn't been that good to me lately, and everytime I hear that line, and "In the house of the lord I will dwell forever!" (I sing Alto), I pretty much want to just sob. This is a very nice rendition.

  • the women's choir at New York All State sang this in 2006 under the direction of Dr. Lisa Fredenburgh, it nearly brought me to tears

  • I agree, she is amazing! She directed my district chorus in VA this year. She was the best we've ever had, in my opinion! Great experience!

  • oh she was fantastic, we had a choral dream team that year at NY All State, I was in Mixed Chorus which was conducted by Andre Thomas, he was really awesome as well. But I specifically remember this piece being sung

  • The girls in my choir sang this last year. Loved it!!

  • gotta love those soprano 1s. :D

amazing sound from this choir! my high school is goin to ireland this spring break coming up and our girls are doin this...cant wait to hear it!

  • every time i hear this song, it reminds me that i love what i do, and that the hard work behind being a music ed major is totally work it.

  • cuts off at the best part.. and where are the dynamics?

  • stroope wrote this piece specifically for women's voices. there is no satb arrangement. take it from a choral music ed major at florida state university.

  • Or anyone in Women's Glee at FSU...

    (me) haha

  • I guess that means ur director is Andre Thomas right? He is seriously the man

  • Absolutely beautiful! I wish I had the music, parts, and lyrics.

  • For lyrics see Psalm 23 :P

  • yay! I'm singing this for All-State

    auditions! I looove it. =]

  • its so nice the lord is my shepherd i shall not be in want psalm 23

  • i cant wait to sing this song

  • i cannot wait to sing this song my choir is singing it for all fall concert

  • beautiful...

  • Aww, some of the song is missing. It is a very beautiful SSAA song. I love Stroope and all of his work. I have bought almost all of his scores!

  • absolutely amazing. I was in an honors choir in my area and the girls sang this song. ever since then I can never get enough of it. and I agree...Stroope is amazing.

  • I'm convinced that this is the most beautiful setting of this psalm. Stroope is just brilliant.

  • This was composed by Z. Randall Stroope for SSAA...Trust me, I got to sing it conducted by him at NWACDA honor choir last March...he did not compose it for SATB.

  • beautiful

  • aw i just sang that this past weekend for all state...loved it.

  • Zhanger there IS a an all womens peice arranged for this. And having men doesnt make a choir a choir. This choir is really really really good.

  • wow this choir is really bad compared to the one im in. Theres like 0 guys in that whereas 1/3 of my choir is like guys and we have like ~80 singers in it.

  • how is a choir bad -.-

I think a choir with 5 true-loving God people counts more then 1000 people who doesnt understand what they are in a choir for.

  • It's a girls choir, you fool.

  • well then dont choose psalm 23 because psalm 23 is a SATB piece...

  • Actually there is a version written for all women. Trust me, we sing this one in our Chamber Choir.

    Lovely video

  • Holy Bible-psalm 23 ( song from David )

  • im sure live being there would even sounded greater. some words are hard to hear though. =)

  • kool

  • Amazing!! AThis song really affected me. Could you show me composer and songwriter?

  • so who is it?

  • Z. Randall Stroope. He's awesome.
