Actually the water softener was labeled for both bath & laundry use. There was (still is) also a more perfumed version labeled for bathing only, Calgon Bouquet.

I remember this commercial from my younger years, and so when watching the episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, SPACE MUTINY, where one of the villains is named Calgon,(you can guess the jokes made) it drove me to giggles. My kids however...didn't get it. Thanks to you, now both know the origin of "Calgon... take me away!" Thanks!
