  • I want to & talk with Jesus, everyday.

I want my life to be an example for him, in everway.

I want treat my brothers & sister the way He wants me to.

Because He says do unto others as you would them have them do unto you.

I want to shower me with His blessings from up above. And then rock me & rock me & rock me in the cradle of his love.

  • I want him to lead me & guide in everything I say and do. In His service I want Him to choose me & use. I do, don't you? What aI Wonderful Counselor, Mighty Prince of Peace, is He. And I all want each day is just a closer walk the Thee. You know I love Him!

  • me my aunt and cousins want to play this song at our church...i just can't find a bass or guitar part....any suggestions? oh and who actually wrote the song?

  • There is probably no written part. This is just that old time. You have to just feel it.

  • I'm not shure, but I think his name is Charles Pikes

  • You're absolutely right... This is the late Professor Charles Anthony Pikes ( passed away July, 2006), who was the Minister Of Music at the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago for many years. Charles was very creative and energetic; he was before his time, musically. Watching him on these videos really brings back memories of spirit-filled times,

  • I didnt know Charles pike Died, he play with James Cleveland. Mt. Pisgah had some good ministers of music e.g Roberta Martin, Billy Webb (Roberta's first organist) Luci Smith (Roberta's Stpe daughter).

  • Charles came to Mt. Pisgah after Robert Martin passed away. Charles worked with Professor Willie J. Webb and Little Luci Smith Collier, who both preceded him as Ministers of Music.

  • Thank for the info. Just one quesstion, is Billy Webb and Luci Smith Collier is still alive and if not when did they died?

  • Willie Webb passed away a few years ago. To my knowledge, Little Lucy is still alive after suffering a stroke many years ago.

  • I love the Barrett Sisters but please someone who is the piano player???

  • This is what I call Gospel Music.

  • Teddy Huffam and the gems recorded this song. And they did a great job on it.

  • The one and only Barret Sisters! One of a Kind and eveytime I've seen them in person, I've been blessed. I miss Charles playing. He and the Barrett Sisters had such a connection. Keep on singing Ladies. I love him too!

  • i love him i love him i love him whooooooo

  • That man sho' can play that piano! I love the Barrett Sisters! Thanks for posting!

  • What other choir/group recorded this song in around the 80's? Does anyone know? I learned this song when I was a teenager in my old church in the country. I thought some other group sang it back then. My current church's music staff has never heard of it. We need to get back to some of these old songs.

  • Shirley Caesar recorded it...I'm not sure about another choir/group....

  • Thanks for that information. That response lead me to the choir version that I was searching for . . . it was the St. James Choir of Detroit, MI and the album was called "The Gospel According to St. James". They also recorded If you ever needed the Lord, you sure do need him now right now!! Very OLD SCHOOL. LOVE IT!!

  • I love the Barrett Sisters

  • My praise team sings this song! I had never heard the original and some of our words are a little different but I will have to post a link or something! You don't hear gospel like this much anymore!

  • Thanks so much for this posting !!!! Such a Christmas gift ! If you have some more my friend !

Quel bonheur de revoir Charles Pikes, virtuose du piano ; à se demander si le clavier ne fait pas partie de lui-même ...

Fifteen years ago, I was celebrating Christmas with the Barretts and Charles at Delois' home . I could rewind the time ...
