@lovetheoldies I heard he never went on tour or did live tv apperances. He was just a studio recording guy. He did join the Express 3-4 years ago in Tenessee for a reunion concert, wish I could have been there!
Great tune. I had forgotten this one. You had to write catchy, melodic songs that would sound good coming from an AM radio in those days. It was tight production coupled with paid studio musicians making songs aimed at the 10-15 year old market, who buys most of the records. Not so much about being a real "band" with acts like this. Nothing wrong with it till you try to put them on the road and play it "live". We had music like this. Now you have "Glee" I guess.
@dwntwnmotorhead I'll take the catchy, melodic bubblegum pop over Glee any day :) Yes, back in the day, you actually had to have musical composition talent and performance talent to create these sugary confections, as prefabricated as they may have seemed to some people. Today, what's used and needed is the bare minimum to scrape by, giving us Auto-Tuned melodies that are flat and uninspired. Back then, of course image mattered; today, image is everything.
the first song with subliminal messages. If played backwards it says "I will have no mercy on you and i will gut you like a pig" wow, heavy stuff

i wonder if these guys thew that what they were singing would be considered "bubblegum", not mocking the song, the song is great, grew up on it, :)

A Tele neck on a Precision Bass...Pretty rare.
I have one of those! I didn't think that was the actual lead singer on the tune either.
He looks like he would have a totally diffeent voice anyway :D
