  • trop mignon

  • very catchy tune

  • the black kilt is the colour of their hearts

  • We can boast no Battle Honours for our part in the American War of Independence, because it was rightly decreed that Battle Honours should not be granted for a war with our own "kith and kin."

    "Quote" -- The Blackwatch

  • Actually this version is by the bands of the KIngs Own Scottish Borderers (KOSBs) which was a series of LPs called TARTAN TOP TWENTY. However the band of the Black Watch under Norman Rogerson first created this tune around 1976. It was featured with great success on the USA tour of that year.

  • @waterloo3 thank for the history on this song. I have it on 45 record, the flip side is "lets go to jersey" thanks again.

  • @onemon22 LOL. Your a brave man to admit you've actually got this record! Another one hit wonder "Classic" from the 1970's LOL

  • @waterloo3 U AINT GOT A CLUE PAL, IF YOU DID YOU WOULD KNOW ITS NOT A SONG ITS A TUNE

  • @waterloo3 The `Watch`won the top of the pops with this in about 197?can anyone

    remember or find the recording?

  • black watch of the united kingdom

  • IS IT NOT TRUE THAT SCOTS WAS AT THE FOREFRONT WITH THE KLU KLUX KLAN????? CHECK IT OUT ( AND LET ME KNOW IF THEY WHERE RACISTS)!!!

  • @JONBHOY1957 The klan was founded on the precepts of Scottish rite masonry. Much of the southern lower classes (hence the bulk of confederate veterans) was of Scots-Irish (protestant) extraction. Make of that what you will. Doubt very many of them knew fukcall about Scotland.

  • @specom Civl War in the United States of America was really the war between the northern Scots-Irish and the southern Scots-Irish with both armies made up of lower class Scots-Irish. The potato famine was going full bore, thousands of Irish were immigrating to the U.S., the majority being pressed into the Army of the Republic (whether they liked it or not). The Scots were already here and you're right about the fukcall :) I like to say it's the only war won by the Scots or Irish :)

  • @JONBHOY1957 Always makes me uncomfortable to think about it, but the cross burning is an old Scot's tradition that was perverted for use by the Klan - but the hoods etc were not Scots related even tho the 'klan' (not clan) was organized by southern Scots-American as protection against supposed Northern Carpetbaggers - total asses on both sides if you ask me... Confederate battle flag also used St. Andrews Cross in it's design - didn't anyone learn anything from the Clearances?

  • @JONBHOY1957 Incorrect,sphincter cheese!

  • My father served with the Watch in North Africa Andrew Hill

  • the black watch of Canada or the United Kingdom?

  • @akropiss Montreal Canada

  • @onemon22 a sound choice my friend, a sound choice....

  • @onemon22 actually its the scottish black watch as my grandad was on top of the pops with it when they had written it

  • @akropiss

There is no "United Kingdom". There is Scotland and England.

  • @streetcopper heh, if thats the way you want to put it.

  • @streetcopper Saor Alba !!!!!!!

  • This is to my Da, he was in the black watch during the second world war..He loved everything scottish, especially the pipes.

He sadly died in may and we had a piper play this and some other tunes at his funeral..

    RIP Dad

  • @poohsmate

My condolences on the loss of your father. My father passed away in May of 2009 and like yours was a WW2 veteran. He too loved all things Scottish, especially the pipes. We made sure there was a piper for him at his funeral and I'm sure they both appreciated being honored that way. My brother and I visited Scotland this August and buried a picture of him near Ft. William and brought some Highland soil home to sprinkle on his grave. He is at home in the Highlands now.

  • No, this tune is "Scotch on the Rocks". I heard the Black Watch play it at the Vancouver BC Pacific National Exhibition. Also performing were the Fiji Islanders and Royal Gurkhas.

The Queen Mum also made an appearance.

  • The clan system in Scotland was disbanded in 1746 after the Battle of Culloden. Scots were even prohibited from wearing tartans and kilts. It was reinstated in 1815.

  • I know who you are. You have been banned from several sites including genealogy sites. I told you once to never answer any of my posts because of threats you have made DCW.

  • I have never been on any geanology sites. I have never made any threats either, please copy and past any threats I am assumed to have made.

  • Funny, but mosy people I know are aware of it, but in any case what sort of sad twisted abastard are you?-Irish?

  • "I had to look this up, no scots I know are even aware of the 2009 gathering, it is ot even advertised in scotland, it is nothing more than a tourist trap for americans who hold laminated clan membership cards."

There you go again turd boy.

    gaelicscots

  • What is wrong with Americans being proud of their Scottish ancestry???

  • " What is wrong with Americans being proud of their Scottish ancestry??? "

I'm Scottish American. gaelicscots are always criticizing Americans who claim a Scottish identity. Of course we're Americans, yet he's always downplaying Americans.

  • I wouldnt pay much heed to gaelicscot and the other 2 names he utilises here on youtube,as all he seems to do is troll sites like these and try his best to upset you folks.after reading a few of his comments on other sites ie been all over the world and also stating that he is a member of the black watch pipe band,I and many others have come to the same conclusion that he is a pathilogical liar ,who probably has never been out of his abode never mind the country.

  • You are probably right about that. You would think that if he's actually Scottish then he wouldn't be putting down Americans with Scottish ancestry, after all it was Scottish immigrants that helped to build this country. I guess he must be just another one that hates Americans. Oh well.

  • I suggest you just simply mark his comments as spam as many do.I served in the BW for 9 years of my 22 year service and have come upon a few fools like him.Suffice to say he is a simple soul and spamming seems to be one of his pleasures.

  • Thanks for the heads up. DunkeldWandrerer

  • I guess I'll do that. My brother plays the pipes, they're a beautiful instrument aren't they. That must have been fun getting to play all the time. Did you travel a lot?

  • pipes a beautiful instrument!?

more like the harbinger of death!

I can see where you're coming from though, this is just my opinion

  • I always love and opinion, better than no opinion.

  • Well, we can't help it if America is made up of immigrants. Sounds like he has a personal problem to me. lol.

  • "Well, we can't help it if America is made up of immigrants"

America is not made up of immigrants, america s made up of americans.

how the fuck are you an immigrant if you are born and raised in america ?

  • @gaelicscots no america IS made up of immagrants. the south was practically founded by ulster-scots. you know about ulster-scots right or do you need a history lesson? our first ten presidents were of ulster-scot descent. gaelicscots is a racist pig. my wife is scottish, born in bred in edinburgh, came here on a work visa at 27, shes 33 now and we are married we go back to scotland once a year to visit her folks and friends. let me guess my wife is not scottish anymore? fucking moron

  • @firemedic277 I wouldnt bother yourself too much with him Firemedic.GaelicScot and his alter ego ScottishNationlist, take delight in trolling through these types of vids, only to try to entice as many people as they can into an argument, but those of us who know that both are the same idiot,we have come to ignore this clown who pops up from his maws basement now and again.

  • "I'm Scottish American. "

So you were born and raised in scotland the n you emigrated to america and got american citizenship i.e. scottish american ?

  • "So you were born and raised in scotland the n you emigrated to america and got american citizenship i.e. scottish american ? "

if that helps you sleep at night.

  • Unlucky.

  • You are still spouting your drivel on lots of postings I see you little lying turd.Going by what you stated on previous posts, you should be in Helmand with the lads now along with my 2 sons. You are a complete clown ,and anyone who takes you seriously on here really needs to take an aspirin.

  • He's an idiot.

  • This is also known as "The Black Watch March." The Black Watch made it famous. Are you a member of Clan McCulloch? I'm a member of Clan Gunn. Do you live in Germany?

  • "I'm a member of Clan Gunn"

LOL, Its funny how only americans and canadians are member of a scottish "clan".

It is nothing more than a club for americans with the same last name.

Scottish clans dont exist and have not done for over 200 years, the scottish clan system is as dead as a dodo.

  • That's really funny. The Commander of Clan Gunn lives in Scotland. We have members in Scotland, Australia, Canada and U.S.A. In July, 2009 will be the biggest gathering of Scottish Clans in history. Still existing is the Court of Lord Lyons in Edinburgh which controls the healdry of the clans and decides on who will be chiefs. Are your initials DCW?

  • As I aid before its a ridiculolus club for people with the same last name and headed by some buffoon with a ridiculous hereditary title. Every single scot I personally know would scoff at the absurdity and disney esque scottish "clan"

Americans like you who think they are scottish Lap this garbage up.

I have been to america and was intensly irritated by americans who had the audacity to call themselves scottish and swaned around like they held land and titles in scotland.

  • Very nice tune! Does anyone know where I can find the score ?

  • The Tune is called:

    Scotch On The Rocks

For anybody who wants to know.I play it often at functions

  • why is the title of this pipes and drums!?!?

    this is brass....

  • It starts with pipes & drums. Base horns are in the background. Then you hear brass with pipes & drums in the background.

  • then its not pipes and drums... its brass. Pipes and Drums is ONLY pipes and drums....

  • Pipes & Drums are always pipes & drums no matter who is playing with them. Anyway, I really like this. Brass sounds good with pipes & drums. You can also hear bells & chimes.

  • onemon22: THANK YOU! I, too, with steinwaygrande1, have great memories connected with this music. I hadn't heard Band of the Black Watch since living in Colorado Springs in the early 70s and heard this tune played on a Denver AM radio station, KHOW, back when there were DJs. They, too, loved the Band of the Black Watch and often played Scotch on the Rocks. Ah, the memories! Thanks, again!

  • Roger, I have the original 45 of this music.

  • It was also played on KFI in Los Angeles back in the '70s.

  • Sure brings back great memorys for me listening to this

  • Nice-I remember it well

  • rather a good piece i must say, tralalalala

  • Only just seen this one - Yes it was the theme to "Scotch on the Rocks" a thriller which starred Bill Simpson who had just finished playing Dr Alan Finlay in "Dr Finlay's Casebook". Episode 1 BBC TV 11th May 1973.

  • sick tune, i like it!

  • i play the pipes and i luv playing in marches coz everybody watchin looks like their shitting theirselves it's that loud

  • I will try to google it. Thanks

  • It took a while to do this one.

  • That is super, ta.

  • The Black Watch and the Welsh Guards came to my university here in the U.S. about 2 years ago. The best military musical organization I have ever seen and heard. My favorite song the Black Watch performed was a tune called "Pogo's Call" I beleive - A drum cadence dedicated to a fallen Black Watch member, KIA in Iraq. Anyone know what song I'm talking about?

  • I will have to google that one Andrew.

  • Click on the link sequentially to multitrack, make a round. Sounds pretty good, bagpipes hold it together, especially as each sequence dies.

  • I has a ring to it.

  • I remember this being on top of the pops about 1977 / 78ish but thought it was the Scots Guards. Love it

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. Yes 1977 sound about right.

  • I remember this song from my youth (lost and gone). The graphic.... Deluxe Paint on an Amiga?

  • I have the original 45. The Kaleidescope I created from permadi dot com and then I used snagit to capture it.

  • to be honest i prefer the black bear or the highland laddie

  • I used to sing Highland Laddie at the age of 4. Oh where and oh where has my highland laddie gone..... I think I will tubeit.

  • Sorry, I was thinking of the Bluebells Of Scotland, which is a favorite of mine.

  • Nice performance

  • I made a video using this track a while back.Search for mcculloch clan. Great music.

  • Outstanding. There is nothing like pipes and drums to get to your emotions.

  • This is a song I have on 45, that is 45 rpm I think I am going to do a video response to this video just to show everyone I am here.

  • Hey Oneman 22

Thanks for posting this, I loved this as a kid and hearing it again made the hairs stand up on my arms, I saw this on ToTP years ago. You can't beat the sound of the Pipes and Drums.

  • Thanks VizionOn I am just doing my rounds right now will post a video response to this one, be sure to check back.

  • couldnt have put it any better 50barrett.

TOICFAIDH AR LA to all our fallen republican friends who have died at the hands of the blackwatch.

  • Perhaps you haven't heard.

  • I am trying. 50barrett has a lot of good videos on his page that mean a lot. I am going to review all of them, thank you for commenting.

  • Sorry lad, but your fight is not mine. I think this music and kaleidescope are not the ones you should be talking to.

  • That was different. I never herd them before.

  • need the band marching on the video great tune

  • Keith I will be doing a response to this video because of the interest. Please check back soon.

  • I just got back for a reunion and we had the Pipes & Drums of The Royal Tank Regiment which were outstanding. I was about to join the Army when this cam out and my friends dad was in the Black watch My John Bunt we miss you nocking this song out on new years eve in the street RIP

  • This Song was a Top 20 Hit British Pop Charts in 1974 and they performed it on Top Of The Pops !!!!

  • Good Lord. Were did you dig this up. Scotch On The Rocks by 1 Bn B.W. I think this goes back to the 70's. Pipes as flat as all get out, drum score a child could tap out with his spoon on his high chair. I just had to chuckle listening to it. I'm just glad they have improved since then.... Oh and before I get any hate mail.I was in the Black Watch Pipes and Drums from 1982 to 1988.

  • I have the original 45. My father was in the Black Watch and served in Hanover Germany during the cold war, circa 1954, thanks for the comment.

  • this tune rocks
