Steve you share so much of yourself, your life with us all online. Thank you. It's very inspiring for us all. And the "Middle of Everywhere" excellent name, very cosmic, as God is flowing through you, and all of us through your work. I met you once 20 years ago, just a shy kid, but you were kind to me and my friends. I doubt you'd remember, but you were just played with Whitesnake in Edmonton and Alberta, and you and Adrian Vandenburg went out for a beer with a few of us.
to continue the story, we had a beer with you guys, my friends and I had snakes as pets....Adrian may remember this as he was invited over to view the 17 foot Burmese. Anyway you were kind enough to pose for pics with us....sadly they didn't know how to work the camera and all the photos blurred. I was the kid who handed you a cassette jack and a CD to sign. I know what you mean about the beauty of written music. It was thanks to you that I taught myself music theory, because I want to be able to express my thoughts and feelings in a way beyond drums, to full compositions.
I guess what I'm saying is, you are a god as far as music goes. I hope to one day reach a level of musicianship on my instrument that you have reached on guitar, and to be a competent composer in your vein.
Also, the 5/16 section is really interesting....love odd-times :)
This may be admirable, but I prefer a catchy piece than this complex contemporary classical style or whatever. For me, "Fire Garden suite" is the thing. But this is just my personal tastes (and I suppose the same as 80% of steve vai fans).
This doesn't mean i don't want to hear these pieces! but i won't play them again and again as his "regular" albums.
Hey Steve! All the dissonance mixed with sugar for the common ear, I get it! Thanks for being there your master class wizardry! You have been my sole inspiration for music. It makes sense for me because your perspective style pretty much covers the entire spectrum. Also, since the electric guitar has always been my true desire in music you got that enigmatic instrument pretty much invented. You take the electric guitar and make it everything it can ever be. thank you for your music Steve Vai ! i love the way you express your music! i love your compositions and the thing that you are not only one of the best guitarist in the world but THE MUSICIAN ! i love the feelings of your music and thanks for what you have done for the guitar in the years! thank u very much!
Dear Stevie. I was introduced to Passion and Warfare for 20 years ago and have always been a fan. I seen you on stage twice but it took me 15 years to understand your music and 18 before you became my Justin Bieber/guru, and the reason why I just got an Ibanez Universe 777P – Please Steve, will you get your long hair back again, I beg you :-)
I'm sure(hope) after all this hard work VAI has done composing this music, he will have it recorded for some kind of release. I'm looking forward to hearing it.. I love what he did in Holland with the METRO ORKEST.
The music between 9:30 and 10:30 sort of reminded me of the piano intro to "The lamb lies down on Broadway" by Genesis (from the album with the same title). It is a great piano intro played by the great Tony Banks, which features these fast sixteen-note counterpoints (contrappunti in Italian), played in different keys....has a similar feel as this piece Steve played in this video....
I love how great minds, on occasions, have the tendency to use what they learned, and take it somewhere new! :-)
