I rescued many rabbits and unfortunately had to deal with them dying from time to time. It never gets easier. Most of my bunnies died either from old age or pasteurellosis. What happened to Jasmine?
FYI: Rabbits have NOT been classified as rodents since the 1920's. Look it up.
In fact, the only reason they were classified as rodents in the first place was because their teeth grew continuously. Scientists found, however, that rabbits have very significantly different morphological features from any rodent and also completely different genetics.
Nice :-) my boxer also loves our rabbits and guinea pigs.. it IS possible to let them play together. People who think it's dangerous are narrow minded. Ofcourse you (as packleader ;-)) have to know your dog (or small animals ;)) good enough to be a 100% sure it won't hurt the other animals.
@sharon...i am so sorry for your loss and how it happened. i know because i have been in the exact same position of holding my dying bunny. worst feeling ever! mine turned out to be a congenitive heart failure which was genetic and nothing could be done. again, sorry for your loss
Our bunny was potty trained, he had his cage but he'd run the house and back yard, play with the cat and dogs, he was awesome! He never once screamed, but he did grunt a lot. Lol, he was so cute! Spoiled little monster, he lived to be eleven years old. :)
thats a really bad idea rabbits might not show pain because they're the bottom of the food chain and my rabbit had the same kind of thing with a dog and he sever diarrhea
we had a rabbit and she was a crazy girl, used to chase the cats around the garden and lay down with them when she had enough of playing, she had plenty of places to go and hide if she wanted to but she always wanted to play, I know they are prey animals but when they grown up tame and in a home with other pets they usually adapt and have great fun, so fucking there x
@equity25 rabbits have their own personalities. if this rabbit really wanted to be left alone it wouldnt have stayed out in the open, unprotected like that wen there were so many places it could have hidden and the dog wasnt hurting or trying to hurt it.rabbits are tougher an smarter than people give them credit for.the larger breeds tend to throw their weight around unlike the smaller breeds that act more like their wild cousins.btw rabbits do vocalize.they can be quite loud when they want to!
I'm sorry you lost your animals. I have a bunny named Kulua Jean and she chases both our cats kind of like what Winston is doing in the video. I know they are waiting for you at the rainbow bridge
@equity25 If you are going to allow dogs and bunnies play, the bunny should have a save place. My PIT BULL plays with my bunny and grooms her. He is used to playing with mice and rats, so when it comes to the Bunny is is pretty gentle. Nava has a save place in case she doesnt want to play anymore, but most rabbits will put a dog in its place if it gets too crazy. And I assure you, she does!
Rabbits are pretty vocal animals, so I don't know where you are getting your facts from.
Dangerous game. Our dogs killed our rabbit like that. I think it's cruel to put those two together. Wanna know if the rabbit is having fun? Look at the way the poor animal breaths when the dog is around and you will know the lil guy is sacred to death...
To the ppl saying don't let a rabbit out with a large dog, I just want to say that although you aren't wrong in saying be careful you are wrong in saying don't do it at all. When i go my rabbit he was cautious around the dog but he soon got used to him and now they are best friends. I also never left them alone together until I knew my dog was not a threat to my rabbit. I think it's fair to say that all animals are different and you need to be cautious, but dogs and rabbits can play together.
It's about which dog and which rabbit. My dog is slightly larger than a pure bred chiuaua. Have two rabbits around the same size as the dog. Chasing for sport can go either way, dog to rabbit and rabbit to dog, and the dog has never bit anybody . The male rabbit bites when he's... well he get sexual a lot. He's a rabbit. Seems to be part of bunny love. Doubt he's bit the dog, though.
also that rabbit doesnt look very happy...some rabbits can get along with dogs but this one seems to be stressed by your well meaning boxer. My other rabbit watson gets stressed by dogs and whenever we had to bring the dogs in for storms he would get sick. I think in the future if your rabbit is lunging whiffing and has it ears back it would be a great idea to keep it out of canine company
the same happened to my zoey she lost weight and had trouble getting over a small cold even with medicine. I took her to the vet and we could find nothing wrong using x rays and such. he suggested putting her on different food. that seemed to help for two days but on night we heard her quak and came running over to the hutch and she was seizing...she died soon after that. She died very young...and i still have no idea what caused her illness...anyway i feel your pain
I'm not an expert, but I know my Holland Lop isn't afraid of dogs and will follow them around. However she's never lunged. Usually that's a sign for you to "Knock it off," such as if you try to rearrange their cage, females will lunge or try to dig you. I've owned 7 rabbits in the last 15 years, and I would never let a dog "paw" them like this because their little hearts and bodies sometimes can't take the excitement. I wouldn't suggest this to any rabbit owner.
If the rabbit WASN'T lunging or trying to box the dog I wouldn't be worried so much. I know my Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix loves to herd my rabbits around, but they pretty much sniff his nose and will binky around him when he's trotting around them. The dog is playing but he doesn't realize this rabbit is defensive.
When I bought a bunny at a local pet store it was having many of the symptoms your poor bunny was suffering from in its final days. I talked to a vet here in the Central Valley(Ca.) who specializes in rodents and he told me to put a water purifier on my tap and don't give it unfiltered tap water. He said the chlorine and other harmful crap is especially bad on certain rodents who have a more sensitive immune system, and it can actually attack and weaken their immune system. (cont.)
(cont.) I went out and bought a PUR system, attached it to my faucet and sure enough Coco began to eat well, building good muscle mass, stopped farting all the time and her minor foot pad infection (which the vet told me was a FUNGUS infection, not bacterial) cleared up immediately. I'm very sorry for you loss.
@mc50992@mc50992@mc50992 They are certainly not rodents. They have an additional pair of incisors and are part of the Lagomorph family. Here's a link posted by Berkley about rodents. @sharon07430 You mustn't give purified water, the water will chemically attach to the nutrients in the body and flush them away with the urine. It's very dangerous. Have you ever seen a wild bunny or even a human drink purified water in nature? No and that is the reason.
@Babyhowdy233 Rabbits are lagamorphs- not in the same category as rodents OR cavies (guinea pigs). Chlorine is bad for anyone. If you live in a city it's best just to buy gallon jugs from the store. And changing the water DAILY is a good idea, so that it doesn't go stagnant or start producing mold.
Yes, ALL are good ideas. And yes, you are right about the categories, but my vet still specializes in ALL of the above, and he simply calls himself a "rodent specialist",lol. ;)
@equity25 As the owner of a pygmy rabbit I can say that this is not how a rabbit is desperately protecting itself, or behaving when scared (it would just scurry and hide).
A, Rabbits can cry loudly if hurt or caught. They can also growl.
B, Rabbits (mine and my friends' at the very least) tend to like playing with dogs. Mine even goes as far to tease them by jumping over and running around them.
Also, common sense =/= reality when it comes to living beings.
I have had rabbits for years.( They can and will vocalize in extreme pain or distress, btw.) I have had rabbits that will run out of their cages to chase dogs or cats so they do sometimes think they can kick ass, but rabbits have very fragile bones and can easily be hurt/killed by accident if things get rough. Even if the rabbit WANTS to fight or play with the dog it's up to you as the owner to intervene and keep a disaster from happening. That's just my two cents. *shrug*
ok ive raised rabbits my whole life yes the rabbit and dog can play together but please watch how ruff they are rabbits can break bones very easily if that dog grabed a hold of its tail or ear it would come off i have experienced my dog do that yes they are nice to each other just watch out boxers do have a habit of grabing things and not letting go:)
@dragondude21Rumble do you know not know anything about rabbits? Apparently you don't. They need exercise and needs to be let out of the cage to have fun. They don't belong in a cage 24/7. And for your information, they are not stuffed animals that wants to be cuddled. They will only show affection to you if you treat them right and bond with them.
@equity25 I will say it again, if you know nothing about rabbits, don't post comments pretending you do. Rabbits do vocalize. This rabbit would run out of his "safe" cage and chase dogs. An animal who is afraid does not come out of a safe place to chase the supposed predator. End of story.
@sharon07430 Are you kidding me? That rabbit looked scared out of its mind! It was low to the ground and ears back against its head. This is not a good situation for the rabbit and it could easily get hurt. That rabbit is obviously distressed.
I also don't think its safe for the dog to play with the bunny. Those bunnies have some pretty sharp front teeth- if that bunny decides to bite the boxer it could turn out bad.
That rabbit isn't happy. I've seen rabbits play fight and chase with other animals, but this one isn't having fun. You can tell by his body posture and the laid back ears that he's feeling harassed and defensive.
Dude. I know how your rabbit feels. My rabbit head butted my dog and now he wont even go near that bunnie without walking out of his way. Dog v.s. bunny, bunny wins with a double head butt to the butt. lol :D
if the owner knew that the dog and the bunny were gunna fight but not really hurt eachother, then fine. but if hes trying to freking feed th ebunynt o the dog ill bunny drop kick that guy.
f your interested in Lionhead or Lionlop rabbits we have them many to choose from. Our rabbits are kept in a clean environment and handled everyday so they won't be scared to pick up. check us out you won't be disappointed. Thanks. We are located in southern Ohio.mckenzieslions.weebly.com is our sight name.
haha my rabbit used to do that with my little yorkie and one time my bunny got fed up with the dog when he was chasing her and did a flip and kicked him in the face...hah
My bunny Trix would chase my boxer Mia around, then they would switch back and forth until i heard it and broke them up. The rabbit would always go start crap with the dog until i got him fixed, then they were best buds until Mia passed last month.
@NicoleJackson4481 This animal cruelty in the case of this video is a thing you fucking liberals don't know exists. It is called NATURE. I fucking hate liberals.
It's true they can die of heart attacks. Even if they get startled enough they can die. I mean don't talk shit if you don't know shit. But most of the time if you startle them they'll just go speeding down the hall, and slip on the lanolium. lol
@ilovemylionheads their fur is soft like a mix between them their ears can go up but are sumtimes floppy and moveable they have giant ktty eyes they can take out their claws whenever they wanna just like cats they have sharp teeth and much more stuff i cant remember lol
all of you guys are stupid as hell they can die by heart attacks all these comments im looking at are all so damn stupid i mean that one comment saying bunnies cant die by a heart attack i mean get real anyone can die by a heart attack and all of you think you know so much about bunnies and you dont even got one. i mean shid i got alot of bunnies i mean alot. and i dont even know everything about them well i kind of do but yeah so. and im not trying to be mean to the people who are saying like.
omg dude theres so many overly concerned fags in this video jesus do you know how many snakes, weasels and HUMANS eat rabbits jesus suck it up if you eat meat you shouldnt be feeling bad at all.
Germany still is fighting for world Control. It failed twice openly waging war but never gave up the idea.Today it is using snitchers to infiltrate foreign countries and manipulate their population and their government.Preferably against each other. And they infiltrate the economy of other states. They are using brainwashing and steering techniques abroad to get rid of people not being pro german. As somebody said:We dont have nukes,we have to do this.Thumbs up if you want the BND to stop torturing
... dogs chased the bunny across the yard and we thought they were playing. When the bunny ran back as fast as it could in the other direction and we figured it out that it was scared, we yelled at the dogs and went to pick up our little rabbit. He acted like he was in shock. We tried giving it water and keeping it cool - within the hour, it died. Somehow, running from the dogs triggered the prey/predator instinct and scared it to death.
oh my im so sorry :( both animals so adorable. i dread the day my bunny dies. dread.

Where's the "Bunny kicks ass" part??
GRIMLOCK07 5 months ago
My bunny Trix would chase my boxer Mia around, then they would switch back and forth until i heard it and broke them up. The rabbit would always go start crap with the dog until i got him fixed, then they were best buds until Mia passed last month.

I think that dog experienced that "Oh shit" moment when you piss an animal off and then it turns around and looks you right in the eyes.

Poor rabbit! The dog was just playing but that rabbit was clearly scared; it was trying to defend itself. This is animal cruelty.
NicoleJackson4481 6 months ago
@NicoleJackson4481 This animal cruelty in the case of this video is a thing you fucking liberals don't know exists. It is called NATURE. I fucking hate liberals.

Mbunnychannel 6 months ago
It's true they can die of heart attacks. Even if they get startled enough they can die. I mean don't talk shit if you don't know shit. But most of the time if you startle them they'll just go speeding down the hall, and slip on the lanolium. lol
acullen113 6 months ago
I've had bunnies and been around bunnies all my life. Never saw one die of a heart attack EVER, and some of them have been through some serious shit.
