History will remember most important bands of that era: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mötorhead, Black Sabbath, Saxon. but pretending this tiny old-school metal revival will prosper and develop it's own sound is kind of ridiculous. This is music by and for nostalgic people. The original is -always- infinitely better than the imitation. Music evolves and changes with time. If metal music can't reinvent itself, it's DEAD.

But in order to give metal music the recognition and attention it deserves something genuinely NEW and innovative, something BIG needs to happen (something similar to grunge in early 90's ) to push music further, something taking the influences from traditional metal, but in a DIFFERENT way. In nearly two decades that hasn't happen. THAT'S why now there is SO MUCH music that stinks.

Fair enough, it killed a few shitty bands like Poison and Warrant, but look at what happened to metal in general after it, it also killed thrash, speed, neo-classical, and there were even some good glam bands which became a laughing stock after grunge.
