My first love Nangaparbat, I was 15 years old when i first went to Fairymedows, and then to Rupal. I wish that words could explain the might and magic of this mountain.
I love this mountain. I have seen fariymedow and ropal face of this mountain. I have to honor to see this beauty in full moon. ummmmmmmmm heart touching beauty. One wish to die there. amir pakistan

...on 10.01.2010 a new cinematic movie gets started...it´s called "Nanga Parbat" and it´ll tell the story about climbing the summit of Nanga Parbat by R. Messner and the circumstances of his brothers death. It´s directed by Josef Vilsmair and will be a great movie...watch the trailer on youtube and have a nice weekend...
The Soloing of Nanga Parbat in 1978 was perhaps in a way a tribute to the solo of Herrmann Buhl who made the first ascent by solo in 1953, but Reinhold took a far more dangerous (straith between the seracs!) and difficult way. This You allways have to keep in Your mind.
The first ascent of the famous Rupal Face, the highest ice wall of the world was a remarkable piece of alpine history. The same time the largest tragedy Reinhold had to suffer with the loss of his younger brother Günther, who was killed by an avalange at the descend at the Diamir Face. The body found some years ago proved that Reinhold always was right and he did everything to get his brother down this face.
Reinhold Messner was the best Climber in the Dolomites (South Tirol) in the 1960s, remember the route "Mittelpfeiler" at Heiligkreuzkofel, the first 8- (5.11)in Europe, at the end of the 60s the grade 7 even did not even exist!.
This is nostalgic. I had the Golden opportunity to be with this great man and a world class climber when he returned again to climb NANGA Solo in 1978. I knew then the reasons for selecting NANGA for this feat, to avenge his brother GUNTHER's death. He did that. I sketched his route up and down from the mountain in July 78 and that appears at last page of his book : SOLO NANGA PARBAT translated from the German version Aliiengang Nanga. Again I was with Messner on his attempt on K2 in 79.
the music in this video is awesome ....anyone knows where can i get this music which is playing in the background ov the video ...if anyone can tell me that i can get it on audio ...or who create such a fabolus music..any one .... help me out
get your facts straight, messner went to simply climb the mountain from basecamp, and his brother grudgingly stayed at the final base camp, but a few hours after reinhold left, he took off and basically ran up the mountain to cath up, when he met reinhold at the peak, he was too fatigued to climb back the way they came, something like a 3,00 foot climb and then some, so he and reinhold had to climb down the other side of the mountain to get off. not reinholds fault.

It must really suck to be left to die beause a mountain transit is more important to your brother than your life. Günther should have climbed with a partner who actually cared about something other than his own glory.
What a tribute! Good job on the video. I love this song with the video. It is so peaceful!
It shows that he died doing what he loved to do. My daughter age 18, died in a car accident in Nov. 2005. This was about that time. When did this happen? May he rest in peace and also peace to those who he left behind, we are the ones who struggle
Where can be found the Gerhard Baur's original documentary of the 1970 Nanga Parbat expedition? The film is made of two parts, first "Die Herausforderung" and second the "Der tödliche Berg". I've been searching for it but it seems that has never been edited in DVD. Any help, please? Thanks!
anyone can share this beautiful song
