Use Durgol Swiss Espresso Cleaner! You can use citric acid a dozen times and it won't work as well as 1 use of Durgol! Its worth the cost. Bottom line it works!
While descaling the water in your machine should be as COLD AS POSSIBLE, i.e. switch it off after flusing the citric acid through the boiler. Otherwise, insoluble calcium citrate could get stuck in your boiler.
i like when he says "...citric acid is found in many soda pops, so is totally natural ( like soda pops are)..." and...one liter if you are anywhere in the rest of the world! not just canada LOL

Thank you, Mark. I have used your advise several times. Works perfect.
I have a question. My Siemens Espresso machine TK76209RW EQ7 tells me to descale (done with the citric acid) and sometimes to clean with cleaning tablets. The cleaning tablets is made of 15-30% phosphates, 15-30% oxygen-based bleaching agent, sodium carbonate. Have you any suggestion what to use instead of these tablets as they are rather expensive.
@KUKEN222A im assuming that alof of the cheaper models wont recomend this because the internals are made of mostly plastic tubing and probably not a brass boiler. chem reactions might deteriate the boiler....and the plastic tubing might harden and become brittle. just a guess though im no scientist
THEY SAY IN LABEL WEAR GLOVES WHEN I BUY CITRIC ACID TO MY ESPRESSO MACHINE AND YOU DRINK IT NOW !! SO TELL ME PLEASE HOW I CLEN MY BREVILLE ESPRESSO MACHINE WITH THIS POWDER AND SHE DONT HAVE BACKFLUSHING ?
@robotmotor - that's the lawyers talking. Cirtic acid is the stuff in kid's sour candies and fake fruit juices - it really can't hurt you. (Now I suppose if you made a super strong solution of it and left your hand in it for 6 hours you might get a rash.) Just put it trhough your Breville as if you are making espresso - no backflushing invloved.
@nablus0is0nablus It could be that your stomach ache is from the caffeine in the coffee. Caffeine is hard on the stomach. Would be much better if you drank cappuccino or espresso...because it has far less caffeine.
@nablus0is0nablus Water sentiment and calk...just like if you boiled water in a pot, the inside of the pot would eventually turn white with calk. The calk can also hinder the flow of water through the steam wand.
Hey, thanks for that video. I have the same machine and was wondering whether I should order some of those commercial espresso machine cleaners, but now I know how to do it much more cheaply. Thanks!
Most Citric acid is manufactured from distillilng oil, and is not a natural product.
You have to specify cirtic acid from natural products eg lemons
My problem is the filter in which place the coffee is blocked - how do I clean that?

If you need a better example...I'd be happy to take a dump in your espresso machine before you clean it!
