No this isn't New Order, because New Order had synths and drum machines. Barney abandoned all that stuff years ago, and now sounds like all the other guitar rock bands out there.
voice #1 is great, but wait, it is bernard's turn, and it is pure magic, everything right with the world, absolute magic in that young voice. i remember on patience of a saint , he did the 2nd voice , after neil tenant, and the effect is instant love for mr. sumner.
Not rocky enough...nothing against it, but wth Barney singing it just sounds like straight up New Order - give it some BALLS man, its not even proper indie/britpop
Yeah, if people don't compare this to previous saintly amazing bands, then this is some really good music. This is certainly not my favorite band, but I'm glad I found out about them anyway.
I like what they are doing. They brought the gold in my opinion, whatever it is that I like about this sound. I enjoy the contrast of voices like in "Turn My Way" from New Order or "Patience of a Saint" from Electronic.
it isn't exactly an walk in the park to start a project and a band and release an album when your name is forever related to bands like New Order, Joy Division and even Electronic. Mr Sumner is in my opinion coming up roses with B.L and I make that statement after I restrained myself from comparing to the bands I mentioned. It's nothing sensetional but it's not hyped up rubbish either. this particular song is one of the best on the album, performed with astonishing economy. Classy. Works for me!
@Sandboge I agree my friend, it;s tough to live up to Ian Curtis (Joy Division), and then New Order. I hope this new band will carry on though, and continue in the Joy Division/New Order tradition.
Good points 'evelsnakes1,' but this song is produced well, and many great songs lack the pop melodies that you seek. I agree that new order's older tracks have much more melody and substance (pun intended), but it isn't that bad. Bernard still sounds like he is 24 vocally. Funny.
There has been a lot of abuse hurled at Bernard's new band. Me included. I thought they must be rubbish as hardly anyone had a good word to say about them.
However, I saw them at MEN Arena last night. They are absolutely BRILLIANT Live. I would urge anyone to go and see this band before they start bandying around words like "crap" etc.
The energy Bernard has is amazing. His dancing is still pants, but as for a Live band they are superb!
he had lots of energy cause he downed a few big macs and super big gulps before the show. Who's the bigger fatty: berny or robert smith. I guess when you get old you stop caring and have to hire a band that is half your age. shit, bernard is quite the straight ahead rocker these days, but his guitar playing ain't a quarter as good as it used to be, never mind the missing synth arrangements I used to love. What's worst of all is the sheer lack of melody.
Would I go see them live? Hell yeah, especially since it would be a small venue, but otherwise these are like any other late era electronic/new order tunes...flat. Remember his heyday of substance/technique/first electronic album? Magnificent.
this is home is the stand out track of the album it's nice to hear both singers and the chorus really kicks in well. Good overall pace to the song . You can't even tell the berny can't sing. lol
I love that song, it´s my favourite =D
A thank you from Germany =)

It sounds like new order to me. Good bass guitar, a bit of synth, a bit of Manchester soul, RIP the Hacienda.

@katakisLives - Hooky is performing with his band 'The Light' at loads of festivals, playing a set of tracks from Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures".
Hope that answers your question

Love Barney's chorus part to this, the whole track is pretty good but you cant help but think what that chorus would sound like in a New Order track

I don't think you could expect him to be playing with the same sytle as when he wrote Technique, but the gig I saw was flawless.
A mix of the old and the new. One half of New Order belting out Love Will Tear us Apart, Temptation, Bizarre Love Triangle and Out of Control.
As I've said on other posts, I don't rate the studio album, but as for putting on a live performance, they're awesome.

haha....Bernand's dancing reminds me of that Seinfield episode of "Elaine" dancing....but he's still the greatest.
