William Hearst--He owned the San Francisco Examiner--along with many other newspapers and publications--his father got rich on silver mines...So William grew up WEALTHY--inherited his father's fortunes and continued to make money on his newspapers, etc. also! I hope that helps!
Unfortunately, no! But I am guessing that on special occasions, Hearst Castle employees MUST be able to use the grounds for a party?! I mean, COME ON!! How could you NOT jump into THAT kind of a swimming pool?!
