Hedgehogs do not make great pets. They are hard to care for and are expensive. I run a rescue in North Florida and would not recomend buying a hedgie. If you just must have one do the research before and adopt from your local rescue. These guys have lots of genetic disorders due to overbreading. It is a wild animal. Keep that in mind before adopting or purchasing a hedgehog!

They are not fully domesticated. I hope you have done your research and are providing mealworms, crickets, fruit and veggies. Be sure the hedgie food or cat food you are feeding is high in protien. The girl I got this weekend is on the verge of death due to her owner thinking that a cheap cat food was all she needed. These animals are exotic pets. The main goal is for them to not be bought on a whim and for them to be well taken care of. Education is key!

They are awesome pets!!!!! If your gonna get one you might want to consider a c&c cage. there easy to build and cheap for there size. it gives them lots of room and helps prevent disease ( which they are prone to). look c&c cages up on youtube.
