  • everyone has been wondering who the members of the pharos were. Well they are Cesar Aliviado, (lead guitar). Emilio Martinez, (rythum guitar). Greg Tangonan, (drums). Bill Bontempo, (piano). Phil Pastrano, (sax). jim irvin, (bass). We lived in La puente, calif, and Hacienda Hts. calif. • Music is the Spirit of Man . . It's Eternal as is our Souls . .

  • For those of you who don't know, it's a surf version of the Spanish song, Angelitos Negros. an old bolero from the 30s/40s . the first like starts off with

    Pintor, Pintamente angelitos negros.

    It's a very sad song.

  • I have lots of Del-Fi surf records, mostly bought in the early 80's, but have never heard of this one. It's excellent, the Latin style songs are especially good, THANKS for posting.

  • Pre Jimi Hendrix - Surf music died in '67 at Monterey -If you don't believe me ask Brian Wilson !

  • Morricone's tunes really set the mood for best westerns.

  • This is truly classic

  • I heard so many surf songs. That's the best.

  • Time to back-pedal on your long board!

  • You know that feeling of being helpless in front of an overwhelming wave of mixed feelings, like admiration for beauty, being happy to be alive to see it, gratitude, relief and letting go of tension? Kinda like when you go on vacation and just LET GO of everything else. Well this song is so good, it took me back to that place! I cried a little, then laughed a little when I saw myself in the mirror. I must be going mad, but this song goes strainght to my heart, and to my mp3 player! Thank u! :*

  • @CrakShaft i know the feeling. had a few myself. just a little mad only.

  • @edsnantonio Remembering the '60s dance parties.......( : Awesome !

  • @CrakShaft Well put, for something so hard to describe!

  • @1westworld My guess is that this was an instrumental take off from a traditional Spanish tune entitled ANGELITOS NEGROS.

  • holy shit. all of this music is so cinematic. i want to make love to it.

  • @dolfan55aj Tarantino-ish, perhaps? :)

  • can anybody name the Pharos group members. I may know one of them. His name is john.

  • @peetie25 ............check out the post made by The Grancapo yesterday...........They wrote the song, signed with Del Fi, and made this recording..........unfortunately, some unknown came forward and claimed it to be his song

  • Great version. Just how I like 'em, moody and broody...

  • It's so cool!

    I've got one question:

I have got a sampler from del'fi which is named "pulp surfin'" (released shortly after the PulpFiction-Hype), where is an totally amazing live-version of Misirlou from THE BOBBY FULLER FOUR, recorded live in 1965.

Did anybod got more such live songs by BFF ???

  • they hard to find but i got that same compiliation myself i boutht also right afther the pulp fiction film i think its a collectors items now

  • Yes, really hard to find, never ever seen this CD again. It's also hard to find something from Bobby Fuller, only some Best-of"-Compilations, but they are awful.

Some month ago I've buyed "Bobby Fuller - El Paso Rock", a compilation with early recordings, including some live-tracks, but they are not soo good as "Misirlou" from 1965.

So poor, here in germany nobody knows Bobby Fuller, except "I fought the law"!

    Greetings from europe!

  • Absolutely fantastic ! Great sound and one of my favorite instrumental records.
