As far as his heavy partying, he has also said he always had people around him who would know what to do if something happened (I'm assuming he means an OD) and also he only skin-popped heroin, never mainlined which is much more dangerous. I think Mr. Robin's comment about him loving life is also apropos.

All that said had Keith ever met the offstage Freddy they probably would have got along.
