And notice that Bing himself never appears on screen - not only did he NOT have to actually travel to England, he never even had to go outside of a recording studio to work on this. And yes, I'm sure he was well compensated for his brief moments of recording.

This ad was seen only in England. Bing Crosby's brother Everett (who represented him in all his financial dealings) drove a hard bargain with Shell for Bing's participation [the Ol' Groaner's services didn't come cheap- a lot of money and/or stock might have changed hands, and the insistance this NOT be shown in the U.S.].
