Yes it is a very good laptop (i'm about to buy the Sony Vaio VGN-FW41E/H), but if you're smart you wait a while because in the laptop industry new laptops are released everytime, so it could be there is a better laptop at 20-11-09 which has the same price, i suggest you search again in october.

after a long 3months of saving and set on getting a MacBook pro I got this lol and I'm impressed. I just love Sony, I have a PS3, PSP, Walkman, Sony Bravia tv and now an FW VAIO :D I got the bluray 1 and was surprised at the price. Was dissapointed at the dreadful battery (1 hour of bluray and wifi) and the plastic cassing but it's a good laptop however I dispise vista >:(

I debated over an FW or a Mac for a long time an, luckly, picked the vaio. IT IS EXCELLENT! If you take car of you battery (dont leave it in while its fully charged) and put on the power save mode, I've gone about 4 hours watching movies, for a third of the price of a similiar macbook.The only thing I dont like is how loud the clicks are for the buttons on the touchpad. Finally, my friend (Mr. Tredy iphone macbook user) has admited to wanting to get rid of his mac and get a vaio.

Graphics are awesome, I get around 2hr 30min of battery life. This laptop should last for quite a while. Although, if you've got the money. Get an aluminum macbook and set up Windows on it.

There are multiple configs for the FW with different video cards. Ultimately, it depends on which one.
