  • Don't eat or buy Alaska wild salmon. Up to 41% of the salmon that Alaska exports has been raised in plastic trays, fed pellets, held in open net pens for up to 12 months, then released into the wild. Alaska farms up to 1.5 billion salmon each year to sustain their fake wild salmon fishery.

  • @Folkboat11 thats incorrect what you are referring to is salmon ranching which is very similer to hatchery salmon where they hatch in a hatchery setting and released after a climitzation period in saltwater depends on the facility some are relised in salt others in fresh i will more then happily eat wild alaskan salmon over ANY farmed salmon from either pacific or atlantic chile norway or canada i resfuse to buy the stuff

  • @Folkboat11 well then you have the most sensitive taste buds of anyone thats for sure since the salmon smolts are released PRIOR to growing any larger a few inches the salmon grows and feeds in the wild much like that of every wild salmon therfor since most all of the flesh we eat as salmon fillets steaks etc are produced from wild sources it should no doubt taste just like any wild salmon of the same sppecies. their are differances in flavor between chum pink sockeye king and silvers but that

  • @Folkboat11 i said alaskan salmon started in trays the same way hatchery salmon are but instead of having a goal of protection of wild salmon(hatchery) they have a goal for havest which in turn still relives some pressure form wild stocks. i guess i dont have a point i was merely saying that you claim they are raised in open net pen and while this may be true it is ONLY for an extremly short time in order to acclimate the parrs to smolts. i havent a clue how your taste buds react but i guess if

  • this country is just dam greedy. I changed my diet back to as close to nature as possible, and I've lost ten pounds in 8 weeks without exercise.

  • The problem is with statements like "...salmon failed to show up on the spawning grounds. It was THOUGHT that they were killed as youngsters by an infestation of sea lice out of salmon farms..." Now I agree that salmon farms have some big negative impacts, but as of yet, there is no study conclusively establishing a cause and effect relationship between lice load on juveniles and mortality. The science is anything but certain at this point... but I sincerely applaud the conviction you guys show
