@Klassickk eh its hard to give a good comparision, its a kind of a hard hit, especially if you land on the concrete like I did 3 times haha but they teach you a specific way to land, its a deffinate "oofff" type of hit ha
@khyea91 Depends on the Jumpmaster,I went through jump school in 1977, and the first man stood in the door on C-123s and C-130s. In jump school, I got smacked in the butt to go. In the 82nd, when I was the first man, I either got smacked on the butt or shoulder.
OMG! fort benning is where my brother in law did this. It kinda looks like him in the video. His name is Jaime Contreras. He's in NC now. please get back to me :)
Great video, buddy.... back in 1985, in my Army days, a SOB just cristalized in front off the door and when I finally jumped from the airplane and my old T-10 oppened, I saw that I was out of the DZ... Really was a mess to reach the landing zone...Thanks for posting and cheers from Brazil! Geronimoooooo
It seemed to me that the guy in the door always had to get a boot in ass during my stint at FT Benning Alpha Company, Don't remember class # but graduated Feb. 87, Fun times, hated the runs though. Airborne all the Way!
In the british forces (and this is no joke my dad was a para) during all battle jumps the jump master will stand by the door with a handgun and if you refuse to jump he will just shoot you in the head because you all need to land in the right zone.
He did not get thrown out. He lost his footing and caught himself by grabbing the edge of the door. The Jump master did not throw him out, he guided him back toward the door... thats it.
What's the song? Btw I think he was thrown out because it would stop the intervals and get him and others off of the correct drop zone. I plan to do this someday if my medical waiver gets accepted :3
@xXfreakbotXx The song is "A funny sample and a bad guitar loop do not a song make." by Stunt Rock. Good luck on your waiver. Just to enlist I needed to go to multiple specialists and get a waiver too...
@xXfreakbotXx I had major surgery on my hand after I broke it and they where worried that I would not be able to keep pace with push up's and other activities.
@xXfreakbotXx you will be fine best thing to do is NOT to say anything to the doctors at meps! but if it is really seriouse that could result into injury or death speak up...wish you the best of luck!
@BoatMaster55 That is the reserve chute. You hold on to that thing and tuck your arms in so your arms dont get flung around in the prop blast and then potentially get tangled as your main chute opens.
@BoatMaster55 they are holding their static line which is anchored to a steel cable in the plane. The static line is attached to a D-bag where the parachute is packed and secured to the harness. You do not pull a ripcord for the main chute, so you do not freefall. When you exit the plane, the static line pulls the main chute from the D-bag. The reserve chute has a ripcord.
@vlun121 SEALS and PJs are special operators and their training reflects this. The airborne school for the Big Army is (as you just saw) made accessible to even females. My buddy is a ranger and he said most Airborne qualified soldiers will never jump in combat and a lot like it for the experience/ or promotion points.
If you want to see some highspeed Army shit check out the HALO jumpers
@Florey96 There is a four second delay from the time that you exit the plane, to the time that your chute is opening, you can see that delay on the second half of the video.
How would your weight cause you to fall faster than a female cadet? All objects fall at uniform speed (9.81m/s) regardless of weight. Only air resistance can effect your falling acceleration.
@ChegzGT1EB Your exactly correct, but I passed her because as soon as you exit the plane my chute began to open and I was from that point subject the wind resistance as well as gravity. Therefore the increase of my mass proportionally affected how long it took for my chute to slow my speed from 130 MPH horizontal speed to my speed vertically (basses upon mass, gravity, vertical distance traveled and the resistance of the chute). In short 2X the weight 2X the time/distance traveled horizontally.
I think they say that in all companies. I was in Alpha 1/507th and they would tell us that they would give the verbal command to jump 3 times, then deem us a jump refusal and give us a legal command to sit on our hands and not touch our equipment. But of course, our jump refusals either got pushed out or fell to the floor and cried like bitches, then had to get sat down.
@Drfeelgood3992 It did for me! I was the 8th man in the chalk on my first jump, and I had about 40 pounds on the previous jumpers (I 'm a really tall guy). I freaked out when I noticed how much faster I was falling than the first jumpers.
@sarge727 No there are always ways to qualify. AIT incentives, unit sending you, trying to become a Ranger... It was not in my contract, and I'm definitely not 'spec ops', but I went to Airborne after AIT.
@airsofter22 There are differences between going to "Ranger School" and becoming a "Ranger" . Just because you went and completed the School, does NOT make you a Ranger. You do NOT get the authority nor the ability to wear the tan beret, nor call yourself a Ranger. Ranger School is just a combat leader's course, nothing more. But, ALL Soldiers must complete Ranger School, while they are assigned to the 75th. Only upon completion of RIP/ROP/RASP are you a Ranger.
@airsofter22 But in relation to Airborne School, unless it is a super recent change, unless you had a reason to be Airborne Qualified, more than likely, the military wouldnt waste their money sending you to the course. That said, Im relatively certain you were one of the lucky fuckers who were allowed to attend the course when it was not written into your contract. Congrats?
@one7six5 To become Airborne you must first volunteer, qualify physically and then have your unit bless off on sending you. Although alot of military personnel do become Airborne qualified not all do.
AIRBORNE--I remember my first exit at Benning as well and this brings back a lot of memories. I went through at age 40 in 1980 and I agree with hmody904 but I had absolutely no problems getting out but some of my 50 plus landings were a bit fast at 190 pounds.
My Green Beret off to you trooper.cardelle68. AIRBORNE
How dangerous is airborne school? I asked this questions to my veteran friends, and they told me that it's very dangerous. But it seems like they're exaggerating it little bit.
@jimmykim10000 Make a proper exit, hold a good body position, don't have a mid air collision (I did on my 3rd jump), keep your feet and knees tight together, don't look at the ground when landing, execute a proper PLF and you'll probably be fine. I had a friend who was a total stud break his tibia because he looked at the ground.
Back when I went through Airborne School, in the 80's, if anybody froze up in the door, they did'nt get pushed out...they got the "kiwi injection"....a boot up the ass! And it was back then a Black Hat could drop you for 100 push ups at a time, not the 20 max you guys have now.
@2379Riley It may be possible to jump from 400 ft. although I highly doubt this would ever happen in a training enviroment. The average paratrooper on a combat jump falls at a rate of 29 ft. per second with an open canopy depending on weather conditions. Take that plus the time it takes for the chute to open, 4 seconds for a C130, and 6 seconds for a C17. Sorry if I double posted.
@2379Riley No one would be doing a training jump at 400' AGl unless the AF made a huge mistake..and even then, the JM's/Airborne Commander would probably not allow the drop. The only low drops are done in combat over hot DZ's, ie Grenada...they jumped under 400' AGL...no reserves...
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Forking Cherries always thinking their lives are on the line if one thing isn't just like they told you on the ground during pre-jump.
@AerialRcoet When you jump you are hooked to whats called a static line. You hold your "Rip Cord" in your had and that is what you see the soldiers handing off to the jump masters, the yellow cord. Your "rip cord" is attached to a metal cable called the static line... once the soldier exits the plane the chute is already beginning to open. The soldier just has to exit the plane and the rest is automatic.
@cardelle68 you got the concept right but the nomenclature wrong. the static line is the yellow cord that is connected to your parachute pack tray with the spring gate connector on the other end. the springed gate is connected with the opening towards the skin of the aircraft to an anchor line cable (steel cable). you hand off the static line to the Jumpmaster safety just before exiting the aircraft.
@cardelle68 Correction sir, the yellow cord attached to the parachute pack tray is the static line, the cable that runs the length of the aircraft is the anchoring cable, there are 4 total lacated in both the C130 and C17 for then inboard and outboard paratroopers.. The only "rip cord" availible to the paratrooper is located on the paratroopers T-10R reserve parachute.
@im6214 Yes you do have a second option. If you look in the video you can see some sort of little pack right around the belly button. That is the reserve. If your chute has not opened within a four second count then you pull your reserve, no questions asked!!! you jump at such low altitudes that you do not have time to hesitate at all.
most of my jumps in the 8DUCE were 500-600 AGL the BSGM wanted us to be ready for jumps into A-STAN and or IRAQ full combat no reserve chutes let me tell ya nothing makes you balls shiver like a 500 AGL drop and a delayed chute opening i thought i was going to fuck my shit up or die...nothing but good times 82nd 2000-2010
Kicking a student out of the plane is not cruel (sivil or army). at my first jump i almost begged the instructor to kick me out cause it took me a sec to jump.
@cardelle68 I figured it was something like that as most people who have never done a static line jump dont understand what the differences in height are actually like and being that I am a fellow paratrooper I was hoping you wouldnt have made a mistake like that on purpose. I do recall being dropped once at 600 ft. but that was pilot error and not a good day for our chalk.
@xjryan22 I guess 800 foot difference is a little too general. Now that I think about it I would have been closer to say that we jumped at 1000 feet instead of 2000. My most recent jump was out of a hot air balloon... scariest damn thing that I have ever done in my life. I was the second to last out of the basket, and by the time that it was my turn to exit, I was almost running vertical because of the uneven weight distribution. Totally different feeling.
@xjryan22 I also make a correction to this statement as I seem to have forgotten that rotory winged aircraft jumps do occur at 2000 ft. if im not mistaken.
AIRBORNE! I do not recall ever seeing anyone hesitate but there may have been one or two ahead of me in the stick, they didn't hesitate long as the rest of the stick were close to running by that stage. C-130 jumps were among the best, but CH-47, UH1H, Twin Otters, and even Cessna jumps were great. You keep going!
Your right... your not cool!!! The first step to fixing the problem is admitting it, and then learning how to spell/type, well just learning anything really!!! So your off to a good start!!!
@cardelle68 lamo, were did you get that from? did your daddy help you make that comment, as well as this video. grow up bro, cant tell a typo when you see one? go back and do your 9th grade homework.
Sounds like you're having fun. I was at Bragg for several years. Wait until you do a mass tactical with a thousand of your closest friends. You do nothing BUT run across canopies and get entangled. Have fun, be safe. ....oh and FYI, Siclily DZ is hard as a rock! Hooah!
@kotro88 ...I busted my cherry on sicily DZ, first jump outa jump school and I did everything wrong! Came out the tail of a 130 so out of shape, my lines were twisted up and I plowed into that red dirt like a frigging rock. Yup, it's hard.
@jme915 And you are chartuse with envy O' Green Eyed Monster. If you make indignant comments, you will always receive indignant responses. You will not get much support or sympathy from the majority of the people posting comments on this video.
@Dominotheturtle, The only "injury" was some mild "road rash" and the air got knocked out of me. Nothing serious at all. It was more funny than any thing, because the Sergeant Airborn yelled at me on the load speaker and asked if I was ok, cause he had seen the whole thing, and once I raised my hand to show I was fine, he yelled back and said "well get the F@#$ up and run back to the staging area, you pussy!!!" It was really funny!
@cardelle68 Nice. Two more questions, do you jump out wearing your glasses? I can't imagine them not falling off for obvious reasons. Did the person who got thrown out get chewed out?
@Dominotheturtle, No big deal, ask all the questions that you want. I did not wear my glasses when I jumped because I really only need them for clarity, not to see, but yes you have to wear your glasses when you jump, because they do not allow you to wear contacts. If you have glasses then they make you put a little strap on them so you do not loose them. As for the other question, no the soldier who hesitated did not get chewed out at all, but the sergeants did make fun of him, and so did we.
we had an E6 hestitate and he got the boot too! to funny, i had a young female cadet before me and I kinda had to just go for it our first jump since she did not hestutate at all, my manhood was at stake!! i won !! the end!!!
The funny thing about it was that the jump master didnt even hesitate to throw the kid out when he even remotely stumbled on his exit.... We talked to the Jump master about it later and he said that it was just second nature, if you hesitate then he throws you out, no two ways about it!
I swear, watching them jump out like that is just too awesome! My dad used to be a jumpmaster before he got out, and they would have stubborn guys who didn't want to like him. This one time my father and another guy were supervising and this guy didn't want to jump, so they had to shove him out. My dad's friends hand rubbed up against the side of the door, and his wedding ring flew off, he was so pissed XD. Awesome video, thumbed up.
This video was shot by A Colonel, the father of one of the soldiers jumping. The original footage is fifteen minutes long... I could cut that down a little and show more video if people comment that they want to see it.
The jumpmasters get the fun rigs!

@2379Riley No one would be doing a training jump at 400' AGl unless the AF made a huge mistake..and even then, the JM's/Airborne Commander would probably not allow the drop. The only low drops are done in combat over hot DZ's, ie Grenada...they jumped under 400' AGL...no reserves...

wait when you jump do you pull the cord to release the shoot or is it done by it self when you jump out ?
AerialRcoet 5 months ago
@AerialRcoet When you jump you are hooked to whats called a static line. You hold your "Rip Cord" in your had and that is what you see the soldiers handing off to the jump masters, the yellow cord. Your "rip cord" is attached to a metal cable called the static line... once the soldier exits the plane the chute is already beginning to open. The soldier just has to exit the plane and the rest is automatic.
cardelle68 5 months ago
@cardelle68 you got the concept right but the nomenclature wrong. the static line is the yellow cord that is connected to your parachute pack tray with the spring gate connector on the other end. the springed gate is connected with the opening towards the skin of the aircraft to an anchor line cable (steel cable). you hand off the static line to the Jumpmaster safety just before exiting the aircraft.
rugbyguitargod 4 months ago
@cardelle68 and when the automatic doesn't happen, pull your reserve or kiss your ass good by.
Nonikee0 4 months ago
@cardelle68 Correction sir, the yellow cord attached to the parachute pack tray is the static line, the cable that runs the length of the aircraft is the anchoring cable, there are 4 total lacated in both the C130 and C17 for then inboard and outboard paratroopers.. The only "rip cord" availible to the paratrooper is located on the paratroopers T-10R reserve parachute.
xjryan22 4 months ago
@cardelle68 what happens if the " rip cord" fails, do they have a second option?
im6214 4 months ago

2handle2hard 5 months ago
Since when do we jump from 2000 ft.? Last I checked we jumped from 1200 ft. in airborne school, and then 800 ft. in division.
xjryan22 5 months ago
@xjryan22 Very true... I was just being general...
cardelle68 5 months ago
@cardelle68 I figured it was something like that as most people who have never done a static line jump dont understand what the differences in height are actually like and being that I am a fellow paratrooper I was hoping you wouldnt have made a mistake like that on purpose. I do recall being dropped once at 600 ft. but that was pilot error and not a good day for our chalk.
xjryan22 5 months ago
@xjryan22 I guess 800 foot difference is a little too general. Now that I think about it I would have been closer to say that we jumped at 1000 feet instead of 2000. My most recent jump was out of a hot air balloon... scariest damn thing that I have ever done in my life. I was the second to last out of the basket, and by the time that it was my turn to exit, I was almost running vertical because of the uneven weight distribution. Totally different feeling.
cardelle68 5 months ago
@cardelle68 was that military or you just having fun?
OGMASSA 4 months ago
@xjryan22 I also make a correction to this statement as I seem to have forgotten that rotory winged aircraft jumps do occur at 2000 ft. if im not mistaken.

AIRBORNE! I do not recall ever seeing anyone hesitate but there may have been one or two ahead of me in the stick, they didn't hesitate long as the rest of the stick were close to running by that stage. C-130 jumps were among the best, but CH-47, UH1H, Twin Otters, and even Cessna jumps were great. You keep going!

Sounds like you're having fun. I was at Bragg for several years. Wait until you do a mass tactical with a thousand of your closest friends. You do nothing BUT run across canopies and get entangled. Have fun, be safe. ....oh and FYI, Siclily DZ is hard as a rock! Hooah!
kotro88 6 months ago 2
@kotro88 ...I busted my cherry on sicily DZ, first jump outa jump school and I did everything wrong! Came out the tail of a 130 so out of shape, my lines were twisted up and I plowed into that red dirt like a frigging rock. Yup, it's hard.

Did you suffer any injuries from being dragged?
Dominotheturtle 6 months ago
@Dominotheturtle, The only "injury" was some mild "road rash" and the air got knocked out of me. Nothing serious at all. It was more funny than any thing, because the Sergeant Airborn yelled at me on the load speaker and asked if I was ok, cause he had seen the whole thing, and once I raised my hand to show I was fine, he yelled back and said "well get the F@#$ up and run back to the staging area, you pussy!!!" It was really funny!
cardelle68 6 months ago
@cardelle68 Nice. Two more questions, do you jump out wearing your glasses? I can't imagine them not falling off for obvious reasons. Did the person who got thrown out get chewed out?
Dominotheturtle 6 months ago

Thanks man!!! Jump school was awesome... I would do it again in a second!!!
cardelle68 8 months ago
