  • however it is meant, this song has damn deep lyrics and they make me think about my own relationship that has ended a few months ago. well im still alive of course, but it doesn't feel so..maybe this could be an explanation..?

  • I think it's meant to be implied that she died, given the way he described the events. And I mean, you don't need to look much deeper into, "And showed no signs of stopping" at the end. >w>

  • @legendarymanic39 I think implied that they both died in the crash. Or atleast the girl did. But yeah, that's the jist of it.

  • @MsWoot100 I don't think that anyone died... They just had a fight and that's what Up happened. Beside the "Up ahead there was a curve approaching. She made no indications of slowing." part the curve could be metaphoricly in theyre relationship or an actualy curve that sent them flying down a cliff or something.

  • @aniharman100 "DON'T PUT ME UNDERGROUND, I was meant for a life somewhere else. Please, love, GIVE ME THE WHEEL BEFORE BOTH OF OUR HEARTS YOU WILL STEAL TONIGHT." As we were, so perfect, so happy, THEY'LL REMEMBER ONLY OUR SMILES, 'cause that's all they'd seen. Long since dried, WHEN WE ARE FOUND, are the tears in which we had drowned, as we were, so perfect, so happy.

    - You don't think that anyone died? O.o

Obviously they crash in the curve, and someone later finds their bodies.

  • @SelvesteSand I could definently see that all being a metaphor. Especially if he was talking about his own relationship. "Don't put me underground." If he was talking about himself and meant it lierally than he'd literally be dead. Is he?

Though it could be about someone else he knew/heard of and they were "me" in "Don't put me underground" and they did die. It's whatever though. I personally think the entire song is a metaphor.

  • @SelvesteSand Then again... I actually think it's 50/50 both ways. "They'll remember only smiles, cause thats all they've seen." I guess it could be someone else he refers to see as maybe he looked, and probably others, looked at them as happy but it was all an act.

So I'm not sure anymore :P

  • Who is the female singer?

  • @TheLeaderofBDC The same as in Roadside and Dressed to Fuck.

  • @themightychickens Is there any other songs where Tim and Emily sing together?

  • can someone tell me what his song is about

so ist like an argument they had then she sped up in the car in the end and tried to kill em??

  • not one of their well known songs, but I see it as a masterpiece simply because of the way it is sang (or narrated?) and because of the sophisticated way this song is written :)

  • @themightychickens how you doing mate?

  • such a good, underrated song

  • 2:54 I finally heard her! "She" always says things in their songs, but I've never heard her.

  • Wow...5 years ago. Where has the time gone?

  • best lyrics ever

  • so i just realized what this song was about after listening to it for 2 years, its so freakin sad!!

  • @Thatguy11723 .. fag

  • @Thatguy11723 kinda awkward to call yourself gay and even more awkward to say "fag" on a song from a band that's against bullying on gays...just saying bro

  • @MoMoneyish well i leave my profile signed in.... and this is a family computer

  • @Thatguy11723 oh and fag doesnt mean gay..

  • @Thatguy11723 um... in this day and age? Yeah... it does, man.

  • @GermanDoerksen i dont give a shit what day and age it means.... i was talking to myslef the first time if you havent noticed... if i offended anyone.... im not sorry... your fuckin stupid if i offended you with that

  • @Thatguy11723 lol another deuche taking a comment way to seriously. Go fuck yourself ;) i'm gonna continue to enjoy the song.

  • @GermanDoerksen actually the way people talk online doesnt reflect there mood, i was amused the whole time i typed that comment lol, also im not flexible enuf to fuck myself....

  • @Thatguy11723 lol well put.

  • RA's lyrics are always so spot on to how I feel. The are the shit!!! XD and they inspire me everyday

  • OMG so poetic Tim Mcilrath is a genius!

  • Simply a Poetic Masterpiece

  • guys the best way to download songs from youtube,(prolly the easiest on the internet) is using flvto.com you just paste the link and click download.

  • Do more A wilhelm scream please!

  • Has anyone else noticed the radio noise around 3:26? It sounds like someone is channel surfing or it's just on a static-y station.

  • @Schnee782 around 3:22 actually

  • " Como fomos felizes nossos sorrisos serão a única coisa da qual irão se lembrar porque foi só isso que eles viram " ( Rise Against - The Approaching Curve )

    Best song ever!!!!!!!!!

  • Rise 4ever.

  • I just love the descriptive language in this song. As an aspiring novelist, an avid reader, and of course, a Rise Against fanatic, the way the lyrics are put together in this song really speaks to me. Just beautiful. <3

  • this band is so awesome it fucked up my computer.

  • It's like all four of them said "all right, let's take the basic breakup song, combine all of what we do best, and create something that we've never done before." Man, the first time I heard it it brought me to tears cause this is almost what my bf and I were going through at the time. It also shows that Tim is more than just a lyricist but also as a descriptive writer. It's just....pure, heartfelt emotion. =)

  • MR MIGHTY CHICKENS what was your first RA song?

  • thats why women shouldn't drive.

  • one of my favourites :)

  • My list of Rise Against albums:

The Unraveling, RpM, SSOTCC, TSATW, Endgame, ATR. :P

  • Woman drivers...

  • @godofxenia wouldnt it be "Womyn"?

  • This song has very intellectual metaphors, and similes! ^-^

  • its soo sad....BUT SO BEAUTIFUL!! <3

  • I kinda want to see this live. Good song not the best off of "The Sufferer And The Witness" but still a good song.

  • I want to read a book written by rise against. Their lyrics are very intelligent which is hard to find in songs these days. usually music is all the same but these are kind of the Black Sheep. Awesome music

  • @ShadowOPSman or fugazi and bad religion. Totally agree with you. Btw, in the back of their sufferer and witness album there's some "read" list and "watch" list. Maybe you should check that out :D

  • @amandanger9888 coo beans thanks

  • @ShadowOPSman you're welcome :)

  • Beautiful.

  • What program do you use to make these? I try time and tie again to find a good program, but they all end up sucking. Email me or reply to me or whatever you want to do. If you can't tell me like if you want it a secret or something, that's okay, I won't push.

THanks, get back to me soon if possible, I appreciate this!

  • @321MusicGal Lol, I use the worst of them all. Windows Movie Maker :-)

  • @themightychickens

Aw, cool, thanks! I'll try it out!

  • @themightychickens Is it possible to import music from Itunes?

  • @321MusicGal I do not use iTunes, but I can imagine you will have to convert the files first, to mp3 or something similar. But then again, I use the 2003 version of movie maker. I don't know about the newer versions.

  • @themightychickens THanks for your help~

  • @themightychickens More a wilhelm scream please! They rock as much as Rise Against people, look them up (my fav sings are Check Request denied, fun time, and the kids can eat a bag of dicks) people there awesome look them up!

  • @321MusicGal It depends on what version of Movie Maker you have. If you use the version that comes with Windows 7 (or possibly Vista?), you can import music directly from iTunes if you can find the file. If you have an earlier version, there is a conversion process you will need to do, which I was never able to figure out.

  • @321MusicGal

this one is probably Window Movie Maker.

elaborate on how the ones you have tried suck?

send me a message I'm resourceful.

  • ffff.ck this song is so damn sad and although amazing!! it is so true like any other lyrics from rise against..! like you all i thank them for waking us up and make the world and life a bit more clear - thats the only way also to change something

  • those 3 dislikes are burning in hell

  • this song has the most amazing lyrics EVER

  • @MCKeticaKing More like a bird, but cheers I guess

  • @themightychickens what are you favorite RA albums in order, mine would probobly be 1: RPM 2: ATR 3:TSSOTCC 4:TSATW 5:Endgame 6:The Unravelling, they're all really close though.

  • @00Powell In release order, but with endgame in front of ATR

  • @00Powell Haha, you'd hate my order then.

  • @00Powell ^^The Unraveling now beats endgame and possibly TSATW, its really hard to put them in order though, they're all really close.

  • NIce work!

  • then i was shouting

  • For those of you who never use their brains heres an indepth analysis of this song.

First off. The "Seductive soundtrack through our midnight drive" Could refer to the lies that they are telling themselves or everyone around them. Second the long straight road could refer to a long time without change thus we refer back to one. They lie to themselves believing this makes them happy. The curve is change the gf crashing on is someone who cannot accept the change so would rather die then accept it

  • @LordDraken12 orrrrrr it means they were driving and they fucked up.

  • @LordDraken12 Glad to know that i'm not the only one who analyses songs to death lol.

  • @TehMegaSnakeFan Damn straight I would have gone on but stupid youtube has character limits Q_Q

  • @LordDraken12 or perps your thinking too indepth, and the song means just as the lyrics imply. they were driving. he breaks up with her. shes torn apart. she kills herself. along with him dying. just saying

  • @NaruAMV1 i was going to say the same thing ha.

  • @DanceLouisDancex3 It's whatever you think it is, it doesn't matter what others think.

  • @NaruAMV1 i thought the same thing when i heard it. Oh well ppl have different views on things, but good to see someone with the same opinion on the meaning as me

  • @LordDraken12 I see it more that the they argue and talk about their dying relationship driving somewhere, and they break up and the girl can't take it and decides if she can't have him no one will, or, alternately, decides she doesn't want to live anymore

  • @LordDraken12 damn, well said man.

  • @LordDraken12 Or, you're thinking TOO In-depth. :)

  • @LordDraken12 Sniffle, beautifull...

  • @LordDraken12 except you obviously aren't using your brain... sure your take on the song may be somewhat right, but why not let people think the music into whatever they want it to be? Music shouldn't be set in stone, nor should people be ragged on when they think it can mean something different. This song is amazing, whether you take it metaphorically or straight-forward. It makes perfect sense either way... so try to use YOUR brain more to accept others opinions.

  • the narrator is tim (right?)

  • this is one of my favs.its unique and very original. first time i heard it i was like meh. then i listened again and i was addicted =P

    great song and great band

    RA for life!

  • 90% of all car accidents are caused by girls.....

  • @Iansurlow and asians....or asian girls....o.o

  • @XxovendettaoxX XD EXACTLY!

  • For anyone who thinks this song doesn't have any symbolism your wrong. One example is the long straight road being the relationship and the curve represents change, the woman refuses to change and move on..

  • @7subways7 We have a winner

  • "...are the tears in which we had drowned..." my favorite line in the song :)

  • can sum1 tell me if tim used the rythm guitar in this since my band wants to play it and i cant much tell the difference between rythm and lead

  • @ChaosDragon018 If you skip to 1:20 you can easily hear that there's two guitars. It doesn't really matter what you consider to be lead and rythm, it should be easy to play the guitar bits live (if you can play by ear)

  • @ChaosDragon018 its rythm and lead.

  • @ChaosDragon018 tim dosnt play lead in most of the songs since hes busy singing..

  • @TheVimtoManVideos Tim doesn't play lead he plays rythm, and actually most songs include a rythm guitar ex. Heaven Knows, Re-Education, Prayer of the Refugee, etc.

  • @ChaosDragon018 ive seen them live nad he took over lead a bit to show off. infact ive seen them more than once :) but yes i was referring to the fact sometimes showing of live he might throw in a bit of lead and stage banter but you are right 99% of the time he is playing rhythem

  • @TheVimtoManVideos Well, no surprise considering he plays better live than Zach...

  • @themightychickens too true ;)

  • @ChaosDragon018 yea there is two guitars through this song

  • the narrator bit is cool its the first time ive heard a song with it in.

you have to love rise aganst

  • nxt time hes driving

  • @zman419 I'm not sure there will be a next time.

  • ' She gave no indication of slowing '

Oh my that gave me chills <333

  • the first time... i have actualy listened to the lyrics of this song.... and i can say its VER VERY touching.... thank you for sharing this video with the world... people may have something to relate with this

  • great song, these long speeches instead of usual singing seems so original. But what is this song about, in the deeper meaning? End of relationship, yeah...but anything more? Why is the curve used in comparison?

And Rise Against for life. ^^

  • @TheAlphaLV its not a metaphor, they are driving down the road (the woman is driving) and the guy tells her he's dumping her...at the end he sees a curve ahead and she does too...but she refuses to turn the wheel or slow down and they go over the edge and die

  • @DarkJoker7 Meh, the curve should be metaphorical, if you ask me...

  • @Amorth if it was metaphorical then this song wouldn't be half as strong as it is; it would just be any other song.

  • I don't care what anyone says about this song I still think its one of their best.>.>

  • I LOVE IT when he talks in this song it sounds amazing!

  • This isn't the sort of thing I usually listen too, but theres something about it I love ♥

  • i first listened to this song... as any other song, like nothing... then i thought about it... looked at lyrics... then i felt so... idk... soething

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! HOW MUCH I HATE THIS SONG! OHHH FUUCKKKKKKK! SING NOT TALK OH FUCKKKK!

  • @SceneKitty3 lol silly troll, bait is for fish.

  • @SceneKitty3 Dude or dudet, that's the whole beauty of the sing. Only Rise Against can rock talking/singing! Plus listen to the song. Just because he doesn't sing the whole song doesn't mean it's not good. It's the meaning that matters.

  • @SceneKitty3 then dont listen to the song. simple as fucking that.

  • @SceneKitty3 Music is poetry. Why does it matter if a poet choose to speak his story rather than sing a poem?

  • @SceneKitty3 for some reason i found this hilarious

  • @SceneKitty3 please keep your justin beiber faggotry on his videos.

this song has meaning not just the constant repeat of one word

  • I was listening to this song while breaking up with my girlfriend....

    NOT a good combination.

  • @rmshevy i know that yur lying. people dont put on rise against while ther in middle of breaking up with ther girlfriend. good comment by the way

  • @ThePacmanprodutions It could have just been playing in the background, bro... you really shouldn't be so quick to respond. You can't KNOW that it wasn't playing. -.-

  • I remember when i first heard the end this song i had to rewind it back and back to see if i heard it right then i looked up the lyrics and nearly cried, :\

  • themightychickens. you have an awesome name

  • the ending gives me chills every time

  • This is one of the most ghostly yet beautiful Rise Against songs I've ever heard. How the hell are they so amazingly awesome?

  • this song is fucking great

even when it´s about an end of a relationship,...

  • wait so is he saying that there was a car crash at the end

  • @kf103

    I guess so..

  • @sweetysporty oh... well that sucks

  • Comment removed

  • @kf103

I know what its about,..don´t blame me :)

  • @sweetysporty why would i blame you dude

  • @kf103

    it was just a joke,boy

    :D

  • @sweetysporty k :D

  • Up ahead there was a curve approaching she made no indications of slowing is my favorite part of the song because you know whats gonna happen and he doesnt need to say a thing 100000000/5

  • Have they ever played this live?i can't find any vids for it :(

  • @boredperson778 Never been done live, since they wouldn't really be able to do it very well live...

  • @themightychickens They'd probably change it up a bit if they ever did though

  • such a serious song. Then 'The mighty chicken' scrolls up the screen

  • Not a word to describe how good Rise Against are

  • i think this one of their stronger songs

  • I love this song so damn much! I've heard rise against in around 7 years now, I'll NEVER get tired of 'em!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow i've only just heard this song first time, and it is possibly one of the best RA songs in my opinion! The chorus nearly made me cry cos it's just beautiful and the lyrics are deep and metaphorical, far above the standards on shallow mainstream music

  • When You think about it..

    its not really a song

its a guy talking through most of it with music playing behind his voice.

It Tells An Amazing Story tho..Turned into a song in its own way...

    <3

  • i think nxt time he's gunna drive

  • @zman419 win comment :)

  • @uptheironsfromlondon im assuming thats y every1 thinks women cant drive ;)

  • i love this song!!!

  • everything was very serious, as the song requires but , at the end: Made By the Mighty Chiken

    just.. lol'd :p

  • deep

  • by listening to the lyrics it sounded like somebody that was loved by somebody died in a car accident. if im right id like to know

  • @philywilly112395 No, its a story of a couple driving somewhere far away and on the way there the boy breaks up with the girl because their relationship is fake, the girl actually loves the boy and is destroyed by this. So they start arguing in the car and the girl decides to commit suicide, and in doing so also kills the boy.

  • not one of they're best songs imo.. but Rise Against still ownz all ^.^

  • @jadehaden123 Haha, not trying to "troll" or anything, but I heard this song just like 3 days ago, and it's now my favorite, I dunno why =P.

  • @loldead234 I totally agree mate that's no troll lol :)

  • my opinion is that, umm well they will die, because "as we were so perfect, so happy..." because i think, the guy want to broke the story between them..

sorry for the english if it isn't good :)

  • Ugh, the last part is sad. "There was a curve approaching, she made no indications of stopping..."

  • if u actually read the lyrics its a beautiful and actually REALLY sad song

  • whos the chick singing in 2:55 (Will steal tonight)

  • @Darkstar9511 The female is Emily Schambra, and was the lead vocalist of the band "Holy Roman Empire".

Emily's also the female vocalist in Roadside, and in The Killing Tree's "Dressed To Fuck"

  • @themightychickens I could not really hear her voice :(
