  • ack, have i missed the koons exhibit? whens it til?

  • GREAT! Thanks for sharing this with us! :)

  • those were really cool what are they made from?

  • Polished stainless steel.

  • That big yellow sculpture looked sort of obscene! Hee hee.

  • You should see his Made in Heaven series if you want to see obscene.

  • that was cool. sure were a lot of people. The cityscape in the background was awesome!!

  • It was gorgeous weather on a Friday evening. They stayed open late because they were making so much money selling $8 beer to the multitude of suckers. I didn't really mind paying for the view.

  • it was so nice to experience that, while sitting in l.a. and avoiding the humidity. superb visuals...thanks F.B.

  • That evening it wasn't so bad, but today, Oy!

  • My, my aren't we the gadfly.

  • yes, we are :)

  • How cool, I love the art they have there.

  • It was very appropriate to the surroundings.

  • That is certainly an apt word for Koons.

  • I love his work as eye candy. I can never make up my mind whether or not it has any substance.

  • I love seeing New york through your eyes. (well I'd love to see it through my own but yours will have to do for the time being!)

I was in Venice last New Year's and the ballon dog was on exhibition there in the grand canal - stunning the juxtapostion of old and new. Did you know there is a Peggy Guggenheim museum there? I have photos but no video because it was before I bought my camera.

thanks for my virtual visit Phil xx

  • Thanks for visiting, Leslie. You can borrow my eyes anytime. I didn't know about the Peggy museum in Venice. I would like to have known her. My image of her comes from Amy Madigan's portrayal in "Pollack". She seemed like a cool person.

  • Wow... What a beautiful day.

  • It was a gorgeous day.

  • Neat stuff. What are the scuptures made from?

  • Polished stainless steel. It's very shiny.

  • Hiya Phil..looks like a great day was had by all mate...

  • Of course... there was beer!

  • COOL =) is like a classical gathering but modern =)

  • Wish you had been there, Java.

  • I adore it when you slice me off a piece of New York pie! I get to experience things that I would never see or know about when you do films like this. I appreciate it so much!

  • I appreciate so much that you watch and enjoy it. I have more servings of pie on the way. Thanks, Lanette.

  • It's truly is a golden age for balloon animals.

I hope people here realize that.

  • It is an especially golden age for golden balloon animals.

  • Way cool. I have a hankering for balloon animals now.

I'm still afraid of clowns, though.

  • I am not a clown fan. Although, I would like to see some pornographic balloon folding.

  • Thank you for this. The city reflected in the dog was one fantastic shot. I hope you are feeling well these days! Barb

  • I'm doing great, thanks. That reflection was amazing. I wish I could have captured the full scale and dimensions on camera.

  • I would love to do a performance up there.

    Exxxcellent video. :)

  • Thanks. It would be quite a performance space.

  • wow, those are so cool!

  • Yes they are. Thanks for watching.

  • My heart goes out to all the party clowns who have to make those things over and over again.

  • I would hate to have to do that.

  • Interesting sculpture.

  • Yes, and I am surprised how much the comments focus on the sculpture. Often works get dwarfed by the spectacle of the surroundings, but these works hold up against the background. Thanks for watching.

  • Awesome work he does! Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Fantastic :)

  • Thanks.

  • The reflections in that piece are beautiful.

    Very nicely captured, Phil.

  • The reflections are my favorite aspect.

  • Thank you. : )

  • My pleasure.

  • What a great view of the city/parkscape from the roof of the gallery! Thanks for posting this video. I'd appreciate more of your glimpses of NYC.

  • I have more in the pipeline. Glad you enjoy them.

  • Oh wow, they looked cool. Can't imagine how much cooler in person they were. Thanks for sharing.

  • They were great, especially in that setting.

  • Wow, Phil, That was nice!!! Isn't he the guy that designed the silver bunny that they made a float of last Thanksgiving Day Parade? Awesome!!!

Hugs, Health, Happiness, Much Love & Respect,

    ~Anna :)

    XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

  • Yes, same guy. Lately he likes shiny things.

  • Phil that was fun, I loved the balloon dog. What was that made of and I'll bet it costs a bundle if you wanted to purchase it lol

    Nice to see you again

  • It's made of stainless steel. One of his balloon flower sculptures just sold for $25.8 million in London. Maybe Warren Buffett will buy you one :)

  • $25.8 million? Holy crap lol

  • Hi Phil! nice to see your videos as always :-) Are you going to Yo-Tube?

  • I will be there, from Friday to Monday. Will I see you there?

  • Nice footage Phil. Thanks for sharing this. Interesting art for sure. -Russ

  • I enjoyed the art, and when you're tired of looking at it, there is the view of the park and the city.

  • Love the balloon dog, What are those made out of?

  • Stainless steel. They look so light, like they are going to float away, but I imagine they are quite heavy.

  • Phil thanks for taking us along! I'd love to be in New York to see the exhibit. -Jim

  • Stop by anytime Jim.

  • Thank You for this video. I saw the balloon animal and heart on a news teaser, but I never knew where the art was on display.

  • It is one of my favorite places in the City. Such a view and art too... not to mention $8 beer.

  • COOL BEANS!

  • It was fun.

  • Well, it is different but, lol, i guess it isn't something i would get out of my bed to see, in my art perspective off course! Did you enjoyed it? That was a very beautiful serious face for someone who's next to a giant reflective yellow dog balloon i have to tell! lol

  • I loved it. Koons is very whimsical and it fit the mood and the setting. The pieces were so well cast and crafted and so very sexual.

  • I saw them just a couple of weeks ago :-)

  • These pieces manage to hold attention and not be overwhelmed by the setting, which is a tall order.

  • I love these little tours of New York!

  • Thanks. I'm glad you came along.

  • Nice touch with the reflection of the NYC skyline in the sculpture :)

  • The reflections were the most interesting features of these sculptures.

  • Jealous~ I want to live in New York...

  • You still have time. You are a man of the world.

  • Well we all see what end of the dog that you like to be photographed with.

    HA HA

  • The head and tail were both vaginal and phallic. I couldn't tell which end was up!

  • Those are fantastic! I love that you typed that you went to the Metropolitan Museum....reminds me of The Art Teacher by Rufus Wainwright.

    Okay, I'll get my coat....

  • There's a major Turner exhibit there now :)

  • Lovely!

  • I thought so. The art is lovely, but the day and the view were too.

  • well that truely is art

my personal favorites were the present and the balloon dog

  • I loved the balloon dog, which I thought had many sexual connotations. And it was quite shiny.

  • oh,he is the one that dd the google logo i couldnt work out haha, in london there is a giant metal spider outside of the Tate, and near town hall ( by tower bridge) there is what i could only describe as an 8ft hamster pellet standing up on end lol, i have a picture somewhere if youre interested :)

i might see if i can find anything of his in the tate come monday :)

  • I didn't know about the Google logo. I think the giant spider is by Louise Bourgois, who is having a major retrospective at the Guggenheim now.

  • is that in berlin? :)

i have heard of it,i just cant remember lol, the spider could be related to the giant pelet lol, there was a google logo designed much in the same way as the puppy

  • Oh I had know idea you was into the arts?,......

    Livewire- :p

  • I spend a lot of time in museums. One of my favorite passtimes. Fortunately for me, this is in walking distance from home.

  • walking distance from home? Lucky you! Maaan do I wish Milwaukee art building was near my resident location,.. Livewire- :P

  • This video just drips culture.

However, it seems to me that the exhibited sculpture more properly belongs at the MOMA or Guggenheim.

    I am jealous.

  • You are right that the Guggenheim and MOMA focus on modern art, but the Met has many important modern pieces in a much more comprehensive collection spanning thousands of years. The roof garden usually focuses on modern works and that particular space is well suited to these sculptures.

Come visit sometime. I'll buy you a drink on the roof.

  • a sculpture of a balloon sculpture, yes methinks art never ceases to amaze me...lol. whats next a sculpture of a gingerbread house?

  • Art has become very self-referential. Like making YouTube videos about YouTube.

  • Nice

  • Thanks.
