I fell in love with this when I saw it on Dawson's Creek. I bought her cd just for this song way back when. Still have it! I love Rascal Flatts, but when I heard them singing it all I could think is that they stole it from her. I know they have to pay for it and all that, but it's sooooo much better by Melodie.
THIS is my favorite version of this song, I have been in love with it since Dawson's Creek aired it in the season 1 finale. I even bought her cd. When Rascal Flatts re released this I was like "OMG..This is my DC song!!" But this one out beats theirs everytime.
I've loved this song since it was featured on Dawson's Creek years ago. And this version is still by far the best out there. Thank you for posting! :)
My mom asked me to sing this at her wedding... well she said Rascal Flatts, but this version I think is better (and in my range lol) love this song... thanks for the post!
This song made it's debut on a episode of Dawson's Creek. I fell inlove with it immediately and bought the tape then couldn't find it. RF's version was disappointing and although I love RF, he sounds like Kermit the frog when he sings.
Ugh!!! I wanted this song in our wedding so bad but it didn't work out!I didn't know who this was and I'm not even sure if I knew the song title:( I would've wanted this version,Rascal Flatts version wasn't around then(still would've wanted this one even tho I love RF).
@MUSICROX83 This came out just before CMT became useless. I saw it fairly often back in '98, but since then CMT has become too focused on top 20 songs and the artists that the record companies tell us we should be listening to. They used to play TONS of artists that never got radio play.
Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! As far as I am concerned this is the ONLY version of "Broken Road"... I burned ALL of my Rascal Flatts CD's, when I heard them cover it!
@nickz777 I knew that! :P But I am NOT mean... I loved, loved, LOVED RF before their take on this song came out. Gary took what should be a simple love song about the blessing of finding your soulmate and turned it into a overprocessed oversung karaoke song.
This is the song that made me keep watching Dawson's Creek, too. I just love it and I sing it often. also I love her version better than the Rascal Flatts one, though I'm a fan of theirs, too.
Simply good - the first time i heard this song was when I saw the last episode of the first season of dawson's creek. I don't know why - but I believe that it's this song that made me watch another season of that show. :)

If you're the same Melodie Crittenden that attended UMKC, the world should know that the life you led there, and the way you treated others was about as far from Christianity as one can get....In your video, you're wearing your cross as if you're such a strong Christian, and living the Christian life is one of your top priorities in life.
@dcost100 okay, i dont know WHO you are, but Melodie is an AMAZING person. i should know, i have known her for as long as i have been alive. she is very into Christianity, and you shouldnt disrespect people like that. think before you speak. please. we are all here to just listen to good music and this amazing artist.
@ivojnob Download the free Real Player program and with it you'd be able to rip the audio of this video and convert into an mp3....it's pretty user friendly.
I have been trying to find this version of this song on Itunes and i have not been able to find it. I've been finding weird versions. Can anyone help me?!!

I don't remember this on CMT, and I've always been a country fan!! :) And, I also didn't know she was from Oklahoma.

Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

This is my favorite version of this song. I picked up this CD in a clearance rack 8 years ago. Thanks Melodie. God Bless You.

I agree, I liked Melodie's version far better than Rascal Flatts. Rascal Flatts were just more popular when they released their version.
