  • Sigh... everyone is just buzzing around about the old things. So what that everything is going childiss...

Or you can still let little kids watch uhm... bloody ANIMES (yeey for me but uhm... eheh)

  • wouldn't say it's a remake but it does make several references to G1 including certain character appearances. I suggest you give the show a chance, some of the human enemies may seem annoying, but overall great show. Haven't enjoyed transformers like this since maybe armada or even back to beast wars.

  • great intro to transformers!

  • They look like humans in suits. Why are they so thin looking?

  • Because they don't look fat! :)

Terrible drawing - more like ninjas, not Transformers - worst Transformers there are ;)

  • @shakdva shut up

  • The reason they couldn't show the transformers more was because it took about 30 hours to fully render each frame of film with a robot in it. And a lot of money.

  • "Transformers" is a US creation. If it wasn't for Marvel/Hasbro, you wouldn't even know about it, and there would never have been a (badly animated) US-developed/designed Korean/Japanese-drawn cartoon for you to lose your load over.

I love how you warp correct information and pretend that it proves your point.

  • it still comes from japan. the U.S jus emproved only by making the movie and turning it into a big hit america

  • The G1 cartoon, indeed the entire Transformers universe, originated in the US. It did NOT come from Japan - only the original figures.

    tfwiki. net/wiki/Myths#The_original_cartoon

  • Incorrect.

"Transformers" as a franchise is entirely a US creation. Hasbro brought together disparate toylines, created a backstory, personalities, names, cartoon.

The cartoon was *manufactured* in Korea and Japan, but it was designed, developed and written in the US. Just as Camrys are designed in Japan and built in the US, iPods are designed in the US and built in Taiwan.

Animation studios do not contribute to design. They churn out cels based on instructions from their employer.

  • shut up the show mabey be for 8 year olds but transformers are still transformers and they rock

  • dude, its been 28 YEARS!!! its time for a change!! i liked the old show, but this has good episodes. like sound and fury, its all about what it means to get something from the heart. and survival of the fittest, shows you can always trust your friends.

  • yo dude completely agree

  • marvel was better whit the transformers.

  • damn right, or they couldve

    made a freakin anime

  • Yeah, the quality sucks. But I watch it 'cause I like the story-line. I actually really like it (but G1 is waywaywaywayway better anyway).

  • what do you think of the plot.... oh right you havent watched it

  • making a new cartoon dosent make theold one bad

  • I'll stick to Japanese ones, this one reminds me of batman, superman and other dc thingies from tv

  • finaly a good transformers show since the japaness shows sucked

  • Have you SEEN the show? I'd hardly call the humor 'tweenage', and the episodes have all practically had just as much action as Beast Wars or G1. And the character development so far is WAY above G1, of which I still can't remember half the character's names because they were never fleshed out nearly as much as Beast Wars or Animated does.

  • vioce is to different it not the same prime its another universe

  • this one is meant to show he's really young. A lot younger than even the G1 Optimus.

  • so...

  • why do you g1ers always complain on the trailer watch an episode and comment on that

  • they look more human than robot

  • good, its time for a new generation of transformers, we cant have the same design for 30 years G1 fans.

  • prime will always be there tho.

  • kiero verlos en español :( xD

pero los primeros son los mejores

  • english dude, english (below my text)

  • not everyone on youtube speaks english. no offence

  • but how did he find the vid if he can speak english

  • concidence

  • KurenaiCSF says Kiero see them in Spanish: (xD

But the former are the best

  • Optimus Primal had lips too, and every Transmetal version of him was ugly. Is Beast Wars shit now too?

  • don't like it

  • I was never really into Transformers. But I saw the 2007 film and that is how I've became a fan of Transformers. I enjoy the Transformers Animated TV series. It is one of my favorite TV shows.

  • Watch the episode 'Thrill of the Hunt'. Made me seriously reconsider Beast Wars being the best series.

  • worst of it.i like the 80s

  • Are you implying that Pokemon is better than Looney Tunes?

  • If you think I'm saying that no Looney Tunes could kick Pokemon's ass anyday this other user sounds like he/she is on drugs

  • Sorry, meant to reply to the other guy not you.

  • Loony Toons were the best back in the day. You don't always have to have that "Anime" look to make a cartoon successful. G1 transformers>all.

  • You don't make any sense you say western animation is good but you say Japanese Animation makes it bad are you on drugs or something

  • you remind me of whats his face acouple of pages ago.you two share acounts or something?

  • don't blame it on the people who actually took the medium seriously 60yrs ago.blame it on the people who found comercialism within american cartoons and made hacked assed animation and writing for a pay-check.atleast in recent times, some creators/producers took a chance at the medium.

  • the last statement sums up most anime girls.

  • the shows you posted range from meh to bad.what about batman or gargoyles?

  • without western cartoons,you wouldn't have anime.

  • The only thing that I can't stand is that Optimus Prime has a mouth. It looks too weird.

  • what is the deal with them being all rounded and loooks like more of ppl in goofy suits, any optimus prime has lips (it does not make sense) what happened to the good old ones where they looked like they would of transformed into vechiles...

  • This has got to be a pisstake... that isn't transformers, that fucking kim possible meets strongbad... :(

  • Biggest piece of dinobot faeces I've seen.

  • someone tell me why does optimus have an axe?

  • lol another transformers series again? lol sheesh!!!

  • This is so awesome! I cant wait till 2008 to see it.

  • This sort of looks like the animation of the Gobots

  • I liked this show! It was really good!

  • um...is totally spies,not totally spikes.

  • Okay, I can accept people disliking this, but I refuse to believe that people can find it worse than the likes of Totally Spikes, My Gym Partner's a Monkey or Shruiken School.

  • or out of jimmy's head foster's home for imaginary friends and theat new george of the jungle show and johney test

  • Just watched the premiere, and I can safely say that I loved it. Granted, some of the human designs look sort of awkward, but the writing, battles and overall plot are all wonderfully done. Esspecially the entire last half hour featuring a certain Decepticon. The little girl did NOT grate my nerves at all, I actually like her. All in all, wonderful series so far. If it stays this quality, it just might hit Beast Wars level soon.

  • I have to agree. I was quite impressed with it. It's a nice new take on Cybertronian mythology. And the animation was hardly distracting at all. I was digging it!

  • What is so wrong with the animation style being similar to Teen Titans, the Batman, etc?

The thing about animation is that its designed to suit the storytelling of the cartoon. And here it works.

Difference doesn't neccesarily translate to inferior. Can you really call Jim Lee a better comic artist than John Romita Jr just because he draws in such a different style.

As Stan Lee once said; "Why do we hate stuff that's different, when we should just be enjoying the variety?"

  • Well, that thing that Stan Lee said was actually a reference to racism, but I do think it's applicable to other areas of conversation.

  • Is wrong when pretend too much

  • 2 1/2 hours!

  • btw, I already know what's gonna happen in the first four episodes, but I won't say it for fear of being chased by an angry mob of Transformers fans for sixteen miles

  • here can I watch the episodes? they don't show it on TV

  • Yes, you can. FanofTransformers has already uploaded it, but you have to be quick before Youtube takes them down.

  • Alright, tomorrow is the moment of truth. Will it be the next Beast Wars, or the next Beast MACHINES? And will Optimus Prime die? Find out in the next exciting episode of The Transformers!

  • Oh please. With the exception of G1, anytime the Japanese has touched the Transformers, the result has been a big pile of pigshit. Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, Robots in Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron. Do you really another RiD? I surely don't.

And for the record, Western animation is far superior to the anime crap that they pass off as animation. Except for Miyazaki.

  • In case you haven't noticed, I was impersonating Highbrow. And btw, thanks for yawning. People do that all the time whenever I say anything like that.

  • optimus looks like jay leno

  • Why exactly do you think they look shit? Is it because they are vastly different from the G1 cartoon we all know and love? If every follow up version of Transformers was the same as G1 it would be incredibly stale.

Anyway, when I said Animated had potential, I was referring to the voice acting, plot synopsis and general presentation. Judging stuff just by the drawings is being very biased, I think.

  • cant wait for this looks kewl!

i mean people keep saying this looks crap but its probaly going to be the best.

    [ and yes i am a 10 yr old transformers fan ]

so plz dont dis me! ]

  • I've only one thing to say: young Tformers fans have to be as open-minded as you are.

  • Stop agreeing with yourself, mahdimus, and if you must post four posts at one time, I have to say that you have a serious plebeian cerebral encumbrance depression problem. (SOB...misuse of the thesaurus!)

  • What's the name of this song???

  • ...They should start useing the G1 Megatrong & Prime Voices again, or at least Primes.

  • Prime looks so stupid, as does mostly everyone else.

  • What makes you think that Optimus will just tell Megatron where the All-Spark is...Asking nicely wont do a whole lot.

I think they could of done a better job on nimation though. Optimus looks like a retarded midget...

  • i love transformers

  • now that's a laugh. A 19 yr old speaking for the so called real fans of G1. Maybe you can't count how old you are and I'm usually nice to all fellow fans but people like you make me barf as opposed to fans who actually have a solid reason and those who are open minded enough to reserve judgement.

  • Guys, don't fight with Mr. High and Mighty know it all, thinking he knows everything about Transformers and how they should be when he wasn't even alive yet when this whole mania started!

It makes me sick how kids watch bits of G1 then all the recent TF cartoons and suddenly they think they're the ultimate authority and I'm usually nice to fellow fans regardless of age but you're the limit.

  • You didn't come here to give a solid opinion, mister. You came here to bitch on someone's vid and disturb other viewers. If you want a fight, get yourself drunk.

  • Oh. Took me a while but finally realized; u're one of *THOSE* people.

U know, one of those Japan=good, US=bad try-hard snobs. That little group of people u see milling in the corner at conventions, who believe that only Japan can do TFs (or robots generally) "properly". Explains the whole "Japan wrote G1" rubbish, cos if it was even slightly true, it wouldn't be so bad that u like the US-developed G1.

YouTube says u're 19. U weren't even alive when TF started, yet somehow u're an authority?

  • You need to look up two articles on transformers dot wikia dot com:

    "Real fan"

    "Ruined FOREVER"

Because you're the epitome of both of those. You are expressing your own single opinion, and you are entitled to. But you are not the voice of the fandom. And you do not have special insight into Animated beyond the teasers and mere glimpses we've been shown.

  • You *can't* be serious. Blackarachnia was a great character, genuine development throughout the series - something consistent with (almost) all of the characters. Air Razor didn't get a fair go before getting written out, and Tarantulas did get underused toward the end, I'll give you that. Rhinox, though, was consistent and fun the whole series. And Megatron was, by far, one of the best renditions of the character.

  • And, Mahdimus, the lack of a large 'army' was explained both by the plot of the show and by the developers. Budget constraints left both teams relatively shorthanded, which allowed greater room for character development and depth. That is why I will always prefer Beast Wars over G1 and anything since produced.

  • I love the new song. I can't wait to see how transformers will live up to their legendary status just like all those other transformers tv series.

  • And Beast Wars had NO Human Characters.

  • look closely and you'll see megatron's severed right arm.

  • Now see, choosing which series is best has to do both with quality and personal preference. I fail to see how Beast Wars was boring; it was one of the only consistant series to date. G1 lacked consistancy. (WHO made the Constructicons, again?). To me, the anime series focused way too much on the humans. At least the Bay movie had them there for a reason, instead of just tagging along so they can screw stuff up. And the power-linking and Minicon crap just SCREAMS 'DBZ'.

  • "The Transformers is an American animated television series depicting a war between giant robots who could transform into vehicles, animals, and other objects. Written and recorded in America, and produced for American audiences, the series was animated in Japan and South Korea, and was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro"

    :/

  • How are there real G1 fans learn to respect peoples opinions and did you really like the Unicron Trilogy just for the cool designs did you really think the storylines were any good cause if they were I don't know what to say

  • "Initially reusing previously-released toys from the Japanese toylines Diaclone (ダイアクロン) and Microman (ミクロマン), Hasbro issued the toys under the name Transformers in the United States in 1984..."

"It is worth noting that the line was released as "The Transformers" in the USA, Canada and the UK in 1984 but Takara was still marketing Diaclone at least during 1984. Hence in Japan "The Transformers" did not debut under that brand till 1985"

    You were saying?

  • I'm not a G1 fan, I'm a Transformers fan, and looking back on it now, there were quite a few beefs with G1, from the lack of character development to the animation errors. Both are things Beast Wars vastly improved on. I still think G1 is the second best series so far, second only to Beast Wars, but it's certainly not perfect. And even with the problems I have with it, it beats the Unicron Trilogy hands down.

  • Clearly not that much of an insult, because there are plenty of people who are looking forward to it.

You berate all the people who are willing to give it a chance as apologists and liking anything.

You're the one saying it's "an insult to the fanbase". You pretend that you speak for all fans, when you completely do not, only for yourself.

  • They had already designed them. G1 TFs go back to 1974. Hasbro came up with the backstory. They were never even going to be sold as "Transformers" in Japan; that happened later. Wow, you've really got a lot of misinformation there. You just really don't know anything at all.

  • 4`dsrhrhhh

  • I can't remember, all I remember is that there was something technical that kept them from using the shades of red required for the color scheme, so it came down to either flames and blue, or an all blue Prime. The details are sketchy, thats all I remember.

I agree, I would of liked to see a BIT more character development, but hey, there's two more movies to be made. Plenty of time left to give the two factions a bit more spotlight.

  • Actually, apparently they couldn't use the red and blue combo due to technical difficulties dealing with the color red not being able to coat the metal properly. They were originally going to make him just blue, but Hasbro wouldn't allow it, so they came to a compromise with the flames. Not the best, but certainly better than just blue.

And I do sort of wish the camera wouldof stayed still a bit more. I still think its silly to look for racism in the film.

  • Oh sorry, I wasn't nitpicking at the races of humans in the movie or the kinds of cars the Transformers turn into, I was too busy watching Optimus Prime rip Bonecrusher a new one.

And don't try to make a political debate out of this. It's 2007, a lot has changed since Vietnam. And don't you DARE drag the Iraq War into this, I've got friends over there.

And the Spanish dude on the phone was VERY accurate to real life, to be honest. You've obviously never called in customer service.

  • Yeah, Teknoman is cool. But I like the Animated designs too. I think their cool too.

And I thought the Bay movie was really good myself. I liked the more human standpoint it took, and I thought the story was very Transformers-ish.

  • Bay's designs looked more realistic than ANY Transformers series hands down. You realize that the mecha designs you speak of are so far off the charts of realism it isn't even funny, right? And here you are whining about them not looking real enough. Maybe if you'd stop looking at them as GUNDAMS they'd appeal to you a bit more. Try having an open mind and quit restricting the desigs so much.

  • Courage isn't an old Hannah Barbara, its hardly ten years old. And Teen Titans was an AWESOME show. At least it WAS until the last season, then it sucked. Everything after Raven's dad went ape-shit was just that, shit.

And since why is being unproportional such a bad thing? How do you know the series will suck purely based on that fact? Why can't you at LEAST wait until AFTER the first few episodes air on the 26th before you judge it?

  • Why does a CARTOON have to stay in proportion? I don't remember Courage the Cowardly Dog staying in proportion, nay, far from it. Does that make it BAD? No. It means it has its own style. Just because a cartoon isn't realistic, doesn't mean it can't be good or taken seriously. I'm getting SICK of realistic looking shows, seeing a cartoon that looks like an actual CARTOON is a breath of fresh air to me.

  • Why are the designs so HORRIBLE to you? I think they look cool, REALLY cool. Hell, dare I say they look better than their G1 counterparts in a few cases. Why don't you try explaining exactly WHAT you dislike about the designs WITHOUT complaining about the 'chicken legs' or other meaningless things that have more to do with the drawing style than the designs themselves?

  • You seem to be forgetting that all we've seen so far are the PRE-EARTH modes. How do you know Optimus won't change when he gets to Earth? From what I hear, he gets a faceplate and everything upon arrival to Earth. So his legs are thin, big deal. Its a new drawing style, there's a difference between being out of proportion and being IN proportion within the bounds of an individual style.

  • Their not soldiers, their REPAIRBOTS! And their not programmed for this kind of action!

But really now, whats so bad about a little change? So the humans hold a bigger role this time around, so what? Would you rather have Carnage in C Minor?

  • Please tell me HOW its a disgrace and HOW its stupid without just saying it either needs to be stylized or looks too cartoony. And FYI, saying a cartoon isn't supposed to be cartoony is like saying ice cream isn't supposed to taste good.

  • Lord Chumley did a pretty good job at totally knocking the shit out of BOTH factions, and that gay bounty hunter in season three was able to outwit the entire Quintesson race. It doesn't matter if they weren't 'main characters', they still DID what they did. And 'Because it sounds stupid' isn't a decent reason to dislike the idea, either. Try explaining WHY these things are so horendous instead of just saying 'ITS SHIT I DON'T LIKE IT' over and over.

  • It looks 2-dimensional because thats what a real cartoon is SUPPOSED to look like. They have chicken legs and look different because its a NEW DRAWING STYLE. Get that through your head. NEW. DRAWING. STYLE. Its NOT going to be 'stylized'. Get over it. And how are the cars 'stupid and cartoony'? Its a cartoon. They look cartoony. Oh wow thats so HORRIBLE!

  • Yeah, EVENTUALLY. How can you let eventually happen if you haven't even see ONE episode? Maybe they'll get more militarial as the show progresses. 'Cuz you know, thats what happens in T.V. shows. New stuff happens. Stuff that WON'T be shown in teasers like this. Thats why its foolish to try and judge PURELY on animation style or even base it on a couple minute preview; you just can't fit the bigger picture into such a tiny segement of time. How do you KNOW its going to suck?

  • I think you misread something. When I was talking about Autobots, I wasn't just talking about the main characters, I was talking about the ENTIRE RACE of Autobots, which was stated by the Quintessons themselves to be peaceful, medic group, while the Decepticons were built for war. I'm not talking induvidual character creation, I'm talking the race as a whole, which WAS, indeed, created for little more than maintenance.

  • Oh wow, Megatron wants the Allspark. Totally different than Galvatron trying to steal the Matrix. Totally.

Point is, the plot is typical, old-school Autobots and Decepticons on Earth, Deceps screwing shit up and Autos stopping them, all while one bigger plot unfolds. Sounds pretty good to me. And they look skinny because they changed the DRAWING STYLE. You have yet to give me a good reason as to how the style is BAD aside from its not 'stylized' enough. Realism isn't everything, you know.

  • Teenagers are also stupid and angsty, a quality not found in little girls. One of the many reasons I refuse to watch most of the Gundam series right there.

And tell me how the cartoon is stupid when a full episode HASN'T BEEN AIRED YET. The plot is IDENTICAL to G1 so far, the personalities are there, the only thing you seem to dislike is the drawing style, which, alone, does NOT warrent the amount of hatred you seem to have for this UNRELEASED series.

  • Hot Rod started as a freelancing teen, Dinobots are an exception because they were created AFTER the original war, Jazz, Prowl and Hound were never built for combat but were forced to fight anyway, Kup was an explorer, not a soldier, Optimus was REBUILT for combat to help stop the war. That leaves what, two built for combat? And neither one was born during the original Great War; only in the latter part did they appear. So no, the Autobot group as a WHOLE was NOT created for war.

  • As far as the little girl goes, I'd rather have ONE little girl than SIX angsty teens running around. We don't even know what roll she plays yet, how can we judge her? And I don't remember Spike doing anything past dragging Soundwave to the Ark with him either, really. And Prime's design isn't messed up, its just a style change. Stop TRYING to make it look realistic in your mind and see it for what it is; a CARTOON.

  • Autobots were NEVER military robots. Autobots were ALWAYS pussy-footed peace-bots. The DECEPTICONS were designed for militarial purposes, and when both sides drove the Quints out, they started fighting because the Autos wanted peace but the Deceps wanted to fight and carry on like drunks in a bar. Thats ALWAYS been the basic premise of the story, so saying the Autobots are anything BUT peacemakers forced into a war they didn't want to fight is a blatant lie.

  • Awesome looking robots couldn't save the shitload that is Minicons. NOTHING could save Minicons, or turn it into an even mildly good idea. Bring back the Combiners like Devastator of Bruticus and then we'll talk, but Minicons? No. Just no. It was a horrible idea, the story revolving around them was horrible, and it just sucked balls period. Minicons = suck, power linking = suck, Cyber Planet Keys = suck.

  • I have seen your videos and you are one of the most shallow minded pricks I've seen in a while complaining just because a character dosen't have a nose is completely rediculous shut up get off Youtube and Get a Life

  • You go take a look at Animated Megatron or Black Arachnia and tell me their CUTE. Dark or menacing, maybe, but certainly not cute.

And if your going to go on about how anime is so good and is NEVER deformed like western cartoons are, I've got two words for you.

    Shin Chan.

  • Oh man, your missing out. Both shows were among the best cartoons I've ever watched.

How did Beast Wars have mundane plots? At least stuff HAPPENED in Beast Wars, all that ever happened in G1 was Megatron tried to steal Energon and the Autobots tried to stop them. Beast Wars gave off the true feeling of an intergalactic war going on between the Maximals and Predacons, rather than the feeling I got sometimes where Megatron would think up half-assed, overused 'villan' plots in G1.

  • Because its a different drawing style? I ask again, why does something HAVE to be stylized to look cool? Remember Samurai Jack?

  • Perceptor and G1 Bumblebee? Battle? Thats the most hilarious thing I've heard all day.

And why can ONLY 'anime' or 'stylized' characters look cool? Sure the Tallgeese looks awesome, but I like the Animated designs too. Something doesn't HAVE to be 'stylized' to be cool. What about FLCL? Canti was a acid-trip on legs if there ever was one.

  • Then what was up with the 'THE STORY SUCKS' comments a few posts back?

And Bulkhead is...bulky. So he's big. Duh. Bulkhead. He's a 'tank character' (sorry for RPG speak). He's the muscle of the group, which is fairly obvious. And I think these new designs look COOL. I can understand to a point with Prime's pre-Earth mode, but what about Prowl? He looks AWESOME. And Starsceam, in my opinion, looks BETTER than he did in G1. Maybe this time the Seekers will look DIFFERENT from one another.

  • Just looked them both up. Hate them. They both look like shit. I mean really, why so many colors? Geez Optimal Optimus had a better color scheme, and thats saying something.

And I still don't see what you mean by 'stylized', because looking at Gundams, I can see no difference between them and say, the Nirvash or Eva 1 aside from the Nirvash riding a...flying snowboard or whatever it is. Elaborate please.

  • Define 'stylized' for me, because the impression I'm getting so far is that your version of 'stylized' means 'looks exactly the same as every other anime character ever'. Which is NOT a good thing, contrary to popular belief.

  • I think your overlooking what REALLY matters here. Is Megatron a ruthless Decepticon leader? Yes. Is Starscream out to kill him and take over as leader? Yes. Is Optimus improvising and leading as he always has? Yes. The character's PERSONALITIES are intact from what I've seen so far. And its starting off like every other series; Ark VS Decep ship ect. Maybe if you'd quit judging on the looks ALONE you'd see this is LEAUGES better than what we've been getting.

  • Who the hell cares? As long as he doesn't turn into GOLDBUG again I'll be happy. Its a new style, its not going to BE the same as the rest of the series. I don't know about you, but I LIKE the changes to the designs. Why? Because I can TELL THEM APART now. I'd MUCH rather have them have unique designs like here than be like the anime or even G1 where the ONLY differences between most characters were color variations and 'personalities' (if you could call it personality).

  • Because I'd totally rather want to watch some gay-ass dog person and his PMSing girlfriend run around looking for jewels when I COULD be watching giant robots blow the shit out of each other. Yeah that makes sense. How do you KNOW this will suck purely based on drawing style? Have you seen the three-minute teaser that was released? That clip alone was more entertaining than all three seasons of the anime put together.

  • Alright, come off the 'ANIME IS BETTER' shit, because frankly, its not. In fact, go search up the original Batman cartoon. The intro is easy as hell to find. You can call anime better all you'd like, but I REFUSE to believe that DBZ, Sailor Moon or Inuyasha are of better quality.

  • Explain to me how the robots were designed by pansies. Bumblebee looks EXACTYLY THE SAME. And you obviously haven't seen Optimus' Earth-mode yet, because it looks IDENTICAL to G1 Prime as well. Do some research on it instead of watching a one-minute teaser and calling it shit based on speculation and lies.

  • err, that was meant to reply transformersfreak21 on page 2..

  • If the mask you're talking about is RETRACTABLE, then I'd go along with that idea.

  • The original Transformers can be considered a cartoon to and do you have any respect for old school anime it's definetly better than alot of the new stuff and finally you can't say stuff that's ignorant like alot of the crap you post

  • It's anime fanboy's like you who make ignorant posts stating stuff like JAPAN IS BETTER THAN AMERICA just shut up and go jack off to Naruto in your mom's basement

  • stop your fucking bitching people! I dont think people are going to change the characters any just because fucking G1 fans cant get into newer transformers designs! but to tell you the truth i sorta dont like the way they look either....

  • honestly speaking, they could have saved ALOT of money NOT doing this. at least they could give prime a faceplate.

  • Well, they did it so "nyeah!"

  • As far as I'm concerned, if theres no time travel in this series, they already have a huge plus above G1. I'd mention Beast Wars, but it did the whole 'time travel' thing RIGHT. Animated might just be BETTER than G1 if it doesn't have any bounty hunters that bear strange resemblences to Ganandorf. You guys that watched season three will know who I'm talking about.

  • and your point? look at the Unicron trilogy. Cybertron mainly.. that had a 10 year old.. Armada had a bunch of whiney brats, and Energon...had Kicker (<-- best human Transformers character from Japan as far as i'm concerned.) get a grip, watch the 3 minute clip an bitch once you have seen this. it has an amazing story, g1 footage AND A TRUE PRIME (not 'Vector', Sentinal Prime...)

  • why is it called transformers ANIMATED? ...it was animated to begin with..

  • Because the original was never called "Animated" It was called "A cartoon" Besides, the "Animated" suffix makes it sound retro, so I say "Like it or leave it!"

  • yeah it was never CALLED animated but cartoons ARE animations. Calling it animated doesnt make it sound retro, it makes it sound like the movie was the first anybody's heard of transformers and then they decided to make a cartoon out of it (like um..clerks?). The show might actually be good, who knows. I just think the animation looks like shit and calling it animated like that's a new thing is stupid.

  • Explain to me how the story sucks when its the same story from EVERY Transformers cartoon? Autobots fleeing on a space cruiser, they have something the Decepies want, Decepies attack, they all get stranded on Earth and continue their fight there. There is NOTHING different with this cartoon's basic plot than ANY other series, even Beast Wars had the same beginning and it was byfar the MOST different of any of the series until this.

  • Who the hell cares? I'd rather have them fighting humans than singing aliens like G1 had.

And for the record, Transformers: The Movie is NOT an anime. Period. It had a heavy Japanese influence I'm sure, since the entire franchise is joint between Takara and Hasbro, but just because the Japanese helped with it, doesn't make it an anime. Might as well call Avatar and Teen Titans anime then if your going to play that card.

  • Who said I hate anime? I love Bleach, Blood+, Death Note, Lucky Star, and at least twenty others. But I also love Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Mickey Mouse, Batman and a lot of other 'Western' cartoons. I don't base my cartoons on style alone, I base them on how well that style is presented and how well the story is told. I think story is MUCH more important than looks. It can be the best looking film ever made, but all the flashy gimmicks can't save a dull story.

  • Spoken like a true ignorant Anime Fanboy

  • Um, yeah, you don't know your TF history.

  • To those who say this show will suck worst than garbage in a bowl, you have no taste. Transformers Animated will be awsome. Nothing you say, unless you agree, don't even bother to post a bad comment. If you think it's bad, I don't care, I'll just forget you do not exist, ha, ha, ha.

  • I, personally LOVE the way this is starting to look. Especially prowl and starscream's new designs. But prowl's especially! By the way, you find it hard to sing the new theme song's version of "Autobots wage their battle to, destroy the evil forces of... THE DECEPTICONS!!!!!!!" At all? Beacause I'm always getting toungue-tied at that part of the new theme.

  • Describe to me how different drawing styles make it bad. Dressing shit up with a pretty bow doesn't make it any less shit, just look at Inuyasha. I'll be damned if thats better than this or ANY 'American cartoon' purely because its anime. Why? Boring storyline, hardly any real plot progression, OH WOW A JEWEL SHARD, OH NO NARAKU'S MINION TOOK IT LETS CHASE HIM. BUT OH WAIT WE NEED THE SUPER HYPER SWORD TECHNIQUE OF THE GODLY PISSHEAD TO DEFEAT HIM.

Not my view of 'good' there.

  • Optimus Prime only used Roller once too; it doesn't make him exist any less now does it? The newest Megatron toy comes with the mace used in the same episode that Optimus used his axe, a clear piece of evidence that the mace and ace are both weapons used by Optimus and Megatron. The argument that it's only used 'once' is silly, esspecially considering we have NO idea on how often he'll use it in the new series. He might use it only ONCE here too for all we know.

  • Because having a giant bulking robot turn into an F-22 is totally normal man. And come off the eye crap; showing emotion comes from BODY LANGUAGE too, which most anime lacks in favor of just having the screen scroll. And no, its NOT 'better' to have 'stylized and normally shaped characters'. I'd rather have a weird looking, interesting to look at character than a boring, bland same-old cookie cutter mold of a person.

  • They fought humans in G1 too. Can you say Lord Chumley? And the time Soundwave used pop music to control people's minds? And Professor Archaville? I'd much rather have them fighting humans than be dragging them along on missions. Why the HELL would the Autobots want a bunch of screeching teenagers with them during an intergalactic war? You know, aside from population control.

  • Because having a unique drawing style rather than a cookie cutter spikey headed teenaged douchebag for every character model makes something BAD, right?

  • Optimus Prime used an axe in the original cartoon too.

  • Well thats your opinion, in my opinion, the anime series was an abomination and should be removed from any and all Transformers continuity. It SUCKED. ALL of it. Minicons sucked power liking sucked cyber planet keys sucked it SUCKED. They were all stupid ideas that should have never been thought of.

  • Animation studios are given the animation models (how to draw Bart/Optimus/whatever) and they do the grunt work to churn it out. They rarely have any actual say in the look of the characters, because they don't own the rights, just the contract, any more than Quanta or Inventec (look them up) has any input into the design of the iPod.

  • The original series was NOT a joint Japanese/American production. It was a US production (Marvel and Sunbow) animated by TOEI (and later AKOM), and dubbed into Japanese later. It was not originally designed with Japan in mind, even if the toys originated from there.

The Simpsons is animated by AKOM (check the credits). Doesn't have a very "Korean" look to me, and I don't see anyone calling it an American/Korean production.

  • You've got to admit, The Transformers is the record holder of most spin-offs; and it has been and forever will be a part of our modern times.

And how many episodes this toy line had made? 597: three away from Gunsmoke.

  • I am getting SICK of the complaints about this show. GROW UP! None of you have seen a single episode of this series! You have no right to judge it! And if you don't like it, too bad. Don't watch it. But you're wasting everybody's time by whining about this.

  • DINO-BOTS!!!

  • No one's asking it to. The animation here is fine. You just object to the character models because they're not deformed in the way you're used to. Energon and the others had mediocre animation at best - you just have a taste for the mundane, and baulk at anything stylised or unique looking.

  • You're right. They just have eyes that take up half of their head.

  • If you think Armada and Energon were "cool", I'm sorry, but you and good taste are on opposite terms.

  • An anime fan complaining that American cartoons make people look *deformed*?

Japanese animation is hugely influenced by American animation and vice versa. The contents each, in their own way, conform to the tired cliches of their respective cultures.

But Americans make cartoons for young children while the Japanese make cartoons for older children who think power upgrades constitute character development and that death and violence, however stupidly concocted, makes a show worth watching.

  • So your telling me that sloppy lip syncing and characters that never move is better animation that Looney Tunes, where there's constant, fluid motion and even music syncing with each and every action? Sorry, but I refuse to believe that DBZ has better animation than Batman. Give me one good reason why I should prefer anime to 'American' cartoons when most of anime is teen angst with giant swords.

  • You do realize that the original G1 cartoon was American, right? And since when did the country of origin have anything to do with the overall quality? I thought the entire Unicron Trilogy was an abomination myself. Beast Wars had too few characters? Better a few, well developed characters than thousands upon thousands of useless, cookie-cutter toss away characters used to boost toy sales.

  • Everybody complaining about this before it even gets one episode needs to remember that everybody thought Beast Wars would ruin everything because it was so vastly different from the original show. Some might disagree, but so far, Beast Wars has been the BEST Transformers series, even superior to G1. Stop and wait to judge this until AFTER it airs; it might just top out Beast Wars. You never know. ;)
