True, but I have worked in a jail and it is no picnic for these guys. No matter how much we tried to stop the rapes, extortion and fights from happening, they would still happen. On the outside, he didn't have to be around criminals all the time. In jail, he doesn't have a choice and the food is very bland and shitty. He might come out worse, but parole is hard not to violate and he will be right back in the system.
By the way, the reason ex felons get thrown back in prison is because their parole is so hard to follow. As for the Hedge fund managers, they don't get that much time. But once they are put in prison, it doesn't matter how little the time, it still is their worst nightmare.

I do think a 15 year sentence is very harsh for a burglary but I also fully believe that if someone breaks into your home you have the right and authority to kill them. The bigger problem in this case is how poor people are treated by our criminal justice system. True, but I have worked in a jail and it is no picnic for these guys. No matter how much we tried to stop the rapes, extortion and fights from happening, they would still happen. On the outside, he didn't have to be around criminals all the time. In jail, he doesn't have a choice and the food is very bland and shitty. He might come out worse, but parole is hard not to violate and he will be right back in the system.
