  • OLd Eau Rouge!!!! Heroic times

  • Richard or Dick Seaman?????

  • Kind of crazy to think that the world would be in utter chaos in a few months from this race.

  • And Hitler wons the race

  • ok 3:25 I laughed, "Seaman splashes through Stavelot"

  • A race very much like 1966, but John Surtees had the wisdom to deal with the rain and win in his Ferrari 312, Uhlenhaut repeatedly tried to slow Seaman down as he had such a huge lead, if not for the war and his death he might have been England's first World or European champion as they called it in those days. I can't imagine driving a 2000lb, 485 HP GP car on hard bycycle tires with drum brakes, surrounded with brimming fuel tanks in the wet, very brave times!

  • One of the original 1939 W-154 Mercedes Benz GP cars survived WWII. It recently resurfaced and was restored. It drove some demo laps here in the US last year ~ an incredible machine. Someone analyzed the aluminum suspension, to determine Germany's degree of pre-war metallurgical advancement. They said it wouldn't be acceptable for lawn furniture today. Imagine doing 190mph in that? 2-1/2 tons, 500hp, 189mph, on crude aluminum suspension. No thanks.

  • Seaman splashes through...

  • @fixinah Unfortunate naming, eh? lol

    God those cars are beautiful!

  • why is everything from the old days in FAST FORWARD ? any thoughts...

  • @burton0078 They were faster back then. It's a well known fact that the FIA has been trying to slow down F1 for years. If it wasn't for them F1 would be breaking the sound barrier today.

  • a sad day for racing with the fatal accident of Dick Seaman

  • The Germans filmed bloddy =everything=. Incriminating and otherwise. Great stuff.

  • really......dick seaman???

  • @waxybadger lol yes, think his dad had a sence of humour lol

  • Wow.. The Eau Rouge sure has changed.

  • @YouthEnergy

    actually its quite similar

  • Easily, one of the greatest races and most tragic races of all time

  • This should be 1938 not 1939.

  • @wawiebeastman : Nope, this was 1939. The Belgian GP wasn't even held in 1938. It takes all of about 20 seconds to verify this in the internet age. You might want to try this before posting again.

  • @wawiebeastman Also Eau Rouge was only built in time for the 1939 event.

  • Dick Seaman... LOL!

  • wow man... thank you very much. great footage.
