the movie, i have to admit, wasn't all that great (acting, other shit like that), but the CGI looked so real, when I walked out of the theater, i thought anyone of the cars on the road would transform any minute now, lol

The original transformers were great! No doubt! But in this movie some ideas were great, too! BumbleBee being now a real fighter and looking good, Irohide and Rachet too. But on the other hand there were so many mistakes in this movie!!! Logical, storyline and the camera... Why couldn't we get a nice view of the robots. Always in dark... And the way Starscream looked like with that egg-head and how he was behaving... Did the filmmakers see the original cartoon?! It's just an ACTION movie now.

This movie was the most disgraceful movie i have ever seen. was ashamed that they did not use the correct sound for when they transform.
I was mostly upset when they introduced "Devastator". It was as if the people who wrote and produced and starred in this movie never saw ANY episodes of the G1 cartoon.
When Optimus Prime punked out and left Bumblebee to get his ass beat I almost walked out of the movie.
Design are ok,,about thats is not much robots in movie was Michael Bay took 38 hours to render a frame if 3 robots are in =),,,About Soundwave isn't included cuz writers dumped him =P
Supposedly, Bay had originally wanted a lot more screentime for the TFs, but he pushed them into the background because the designs (which were downright awful in terms of TF tradition and robotics in general) were so expensive. He KNEW that it would be a problem, but he just rolls with it instead of trying to fix it?
The writers did have Soundwave in the original script, but because he wasn't the same character he was in the show, they renamed him Frenzy and hoped no one would notice. -_-
About Soundwave, the writers took him out completely because they didn't think a casette player would work in well with the movie but decided to use a character associated with Soundwave to represent him and so used Frenzy and turned him into a retarded stereo that has no proper toy that looks normal.
Also, Bay did decide less screentime for the TFs because it cost him hell-loads of oney which is why there was also way less TFs than originally decided. They wanted more but couldn't afford it.
They weren't even TRYING to make him Soundwave. So what if a tape deck wouldn't fit in with 21st century tech? He could have been the boom box (or even the FBI surveillance van they're currently experimenting with). They were just being lazy about it.
If Bay couldn't afford it, why didn't he opt for designs that were more traditional of Transformers, are more robotically correct, and better suit his original ideas?

Or better yet, they could have done something like Animated Soundwave how he has the casette player-type thing in his chest but turns into a vehicle like an Escalade or something and LB is his guitar.

The ONLY reason I think it needed to be G1 was because of its obvious G1 inspiration. Transformers has had many, many incarnations, but when you have G1-exclusive characters like Bumblebee, Ratchet, Jazz, and the Witwickies, what else can you do? :P If they wanted to start an entirely new universe, that's cool. They should have instead started entirely from scratch instead of playing off of the G1 canon.
But it should be an improvement, not a downgrade. Personally, Ironhide didn't look right as a ute, especially the black. They should have considered a design like the new Universe Classics 2.0 Ironhide which looks awesome. They also had a pretty horrible design for Ratchet and most of the characters had horrible faces, not to mention the human characters were just annoying and they had too many unnecessary things going on.
Just my opinion but I do hope TF2 next year in June will be better.

A lot of movies have obvious advertisements. And if a few obvious advertisements (watches a will smith movie) gives a greater production value, so be it.
The movie had a lot of the original material, and a lot of the characters were mostly true to what they were, even Star Scream attacked Megatron, joining the human bombing raid.
The good thing about a comic or book is that you can add your own touches to imagination. The original series was all about selling toys, if you watch it.

For those of you who watched this film and praised it without question, you have condemned the artistic and intellectual integrity of the talented Japanese desingers who have made Transformers a reality. You are all selfish, apathetic, greedy Americans. You can quote me on that.
You are correct about that but bear in mind, the 80s TFs cartoon were produced here, it was animated in Japan. I know that the storyline was made here and Takara/Hasbro canonized that in their franchise, but as a moralist, I have to respect the parent or source of that franchise which is Takara in Japan.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not ranting out negatively as a fanboy purist, I'm ranting out sensibly as a concerned supporter of creative rights. I hope I'm making sense here.

My point is this film should've never been made from the get go. the time just wasn't right, and the place which is Dreamworks wasn't wise either b/c their American mentality dismisses uniquity, intellect, and artistic creativity in a show they're selling, and thus causing creative tension between both sides. That's why the British animators of Wallace & Gromit parted ways with Paramount.

A lot of movies have obvious advertisements. And if a few obvious advertisements (watches a will smith movie) gives a greater production value, so be it.
The movie had a lot of the original material, and a lot of the characters were mostly true to what they were, even Star Scream attacked Megatron, joining the human bombing raid.
The good thing about a comic or book is that you can add your own touches to imagination. The original series was all about selling toys, if you watch it.

You are correct about that but bear in mind, the 80s TFs cartoon were produced here, it was animated in Japan. I know that the storyline was made here and Takara/Hasbro canonized that in their franchise, but as a moralist, I have to respect the parent or source of that franchise which is Takara in Japan.

"have to" is out of the question. That's a compromise against truth and I don't do compromise. My point is this film should've never been made from the get go. the time just wasn't right, and the place which is Dreamworks wasn't wise either b/c their American mentality dismisses uniquity, intellect, and artistic creativity in a show they're selling, and thus causing creative tension between both sides. That's why the British animators of Wallace & Gromit parted ways with Paramount.

Well, they should of just gottten Hasbro to direct it, or Peter Jackson, or hell James Camron, but no, Speilburg went with Michael Bayy because he does action. I have a proposed script for the sequel, and it should be better from what I can tell.
