  • @17jun1989 Agreed - I thought the rap got in the way of a very sweet ambient song. I was all WTF? when I heard the weird rap version.

  • @Sociologamer Glad the EUR AND U.S version didn't have the Vocals.

  • Without the Whack Rappin is far Better.

  • Now I want to listen to the Phantasy Star Online Soundtrack :)

  • finally the lame rapping is out thank you

  • i swear this is what heaven sounds like

  • Love the hell out of this song.

  • I liked the rap, but in all honesty i think the instrumental version is a lot better. It just seems to ''fit'' the area a lot better than the rap does.

  • Hmm...this version is good but the lyrics are not really all that bad. Sigh oh well...

  • I could listen to this all day!

  • I may not be called a Final Fantasy anymore by the raging 'fans' but my god am I happy they took the rapping out. I felt it was totally not in synch with the beat.

The vocals from New Bodhum and Oerba were pure gold though.

  • @DashebleLink

    *fan

    *Final Fantasy fan* >_>

  • I'm curious, is this from an actual soundtrack released for the game or something fan-made/a game rip? So far from what I've seen, the rap has been left in even on the soundtrack that was released in the special edition of the American game. I'd just like a little clarification. ^_^

  • @tomenaki It's on the OST, but this is the version that plays in the NA game.

Personally, I agreed with the choice. I like the other songs with lyrics (even/especially the Shootie HG songs) but this one just sounded really bad to me.

  • @PaladinSaris That doesn't really answer my question. I asked if THIS version was on any of the OST's. I have the OST myself, but it still includes the rap. I know the game itself doesn't have said rap, but I'm wondering how the person got ahold of this particular version.

  • I love this theme, why do they take it out when you defeat Atlas T^T

  • FINALLY!

now i don't have to load the demo just to listen to this when i want to sleep....ugh that rap version is so bad but the music in the backgrounds sounds so much better...

  • @EDDIEinWAR yup! I do the same.

  • Funny, wasn't this one of the first songs we know of when it debuted at E3? And of course, I think it's the only song to change when it came to an overseas version.

People really, really wanted something to hate with this game.

  • I think were so used to the Rap version now, that were missing it now when its played as a instrumental. I bet if we heard this first, then heard the rap, we would say the same thing. Its how our brain reacts to change.

  • What a kickass bass beat!

  • I believe this song is a MILLION times better WITHOUT that horrible rap! Its pure FF sounding without it. I really hope this version is on the USA OST on the LE of the game!

  • @glenburg89 I just got done whining about the rap on a video with it, but I see your point and agree. Instrumental is better while playing, but the vocals would be fine I guess when you're just listening. :p

  • I liked the lyrics in the other songs, but the lyrics in this particular song are a little on the corny side for me. Ruined hometown is really nice..

  • This sounds like something from PSO.

  • :\ I liked the rap. I like this too. I don't really get the point of taking it out, especially since it added a unique ambiance to the ruins in the JPN version.

  • @arelimoon29 Lyrics worked out pretty well in the area. Don't get me wrong, I like this version too, but in no way were the lyrics bad when used in the context of the game. I think the real problem here is peple getting all upset cause its so different from previous music in the series, and we all know how most final fantasy fans handle changes.

  • @TheAvidGamer91

The problem wasn't the lyrics, the problem was that the "rapper" was horrible. Also imagine listening to them for like, an hour. You'd get tired. A song-less version is much easier to listen to during a longer time.

  • @arelimoon29 it sucked imo this version is better

  • Also if this is the version we'll be getting on the Collector's Edition OST.

  • @nor3paint To answer your first question - likely due to all of the complaints people were having over the lyrics of that song. To answer the second part - i'm half expecting it to be the standard japanese version and then they'll wind up releasing a "Plus" version later on with the instrumentals and shit, but it wouldnt make much sense for them to include the lyrical version on the soundtrack when it's not even in the english version of the game(as far as i'm aware)

  • @nor3paint Also bear in mind, they did the same thing for XIII. Lyrics were altered for many songs, and while we never got an instrumental, there are noticable differences between the songs in the english and japanese versions of the game. That kinda gets me worried, though... I don't want them changing up the lyrics to other songs on this soundtrack, or, god forbid, making masterpieces like Ruined Hometown or New Bodhum all instrumentals as well.

  • @nor3paint got the collector's edition and i found it with that stupid who rapped my ear off with saying "place in my heart place in mind: ahhhh dammit i want this version -__-

  • I like both versions of the song. I would, however, like to know why they decided to make an instrumental version of this for the English-language version of the game when the lyrics are IN FREAKING ENGLISH.

  • *Hears original Invisible Invaders*

FF Fanboy: WAAHH, THE RAP SUKS!!!

*Hears the version without the rap*

FF Fanboy: WAAHH, I MISS THE RAP!!!

  • @zaxckee LOL you've just nailed the mark on the typical FF "Fanboi," i people have been playing these games for a long time then they should expect a different vibe from each one. Can't wait for Tuesday!

  • i really like this song

  • I blame america for this =/

  • And just when I memorized the lyrics too..

  • It was such a good feeling to walk in the Bresha Ruins with this nice Soundtrack :)

  • Great song without the monotone rapping. Definitely a sex mix song. lol

  • Comment removed

  • Reminds me of "Stylo" by Gorillaz

  • Meh, I thought the rapping in the original was kind of stiff and unnatural sounding, myself. I don't think it really detracts from the track overall, actually :-/

  • @JimmyBoBobJim1 It was supposed to fit the area. (you know, a ruined and rainy cocoon, with a huge weird paradox titan lumbering around?)

  • @SwobyJ Herp derp yes I understand the point of BGM

I was just saying I don't know what all the butthurt is about. I liked the original, but I thought the flow of the vocals was awkward. I mean, I'll be disappointed if the rest of the tracks are equally synthesizer'd, but I'm not going to ragequit ten seconds into the game just because the Origa vocals were taken out.

And I don't understand how a rap about friendship and being yourself really fits the setting you described

  • @JimmyBoBobJim1 I meant the near monotone. When it comes to the lyrics, I agree - they seem to fit a larger theme (and they seem to also reference the FF series itself in some lines, which is funny/weird) instead. And herp derp?

  • @SwobyJ Sorry! I was kind of in a bad mood when I wrote that.

Anyway, I see what you're getting at with the monotone, but I think it would be kind of annoying to sit through that for however long it would take to finish the area. I mean, I have heard the version that plays when monsters are around, but that wouldn't be enough to really break the monotony (for me, anyway), you know? It's like, I do like some BGMs enough to where I don't care, but a constant loop of this? idk

  • @JimmyBoBobJim1 Good point, and this is VERY much a love it or hate it soundtrack (I tend on the side of love it).

This track plays in essentially the 2nd/3rd area of the game (so still in 'Tutorial Land') and that's it. So.. about 2-4 hours of the game, aside from cutscene, battle, etc music. It's not that much. The game has such a varied soundtrack (including 4 disks worth of new XIII-2 music, and a LOT of XIII's soundtrack is back), that I don't mind even a handful of bads.

  • @SwobyJ More like 1 hour or so considering that the background music in the area changes over to Missing Link once you've beaten Atlas. Aside from that, it only plays in one other area in the game, and that's an optional area that's unrelated to the story and simply there for fragment collectors. Most of the people who complain about a couple of the tracks(Primarily this and Crazy Chocobo) might be pleasantly surprised when they realize just how sparingly those songs are featured in the game.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Exactly.

  • Much mUCH BETTER

  • Such a great beat, and overall, a great soundtrack. I'm looking forward to the 4-disc OST that comes with the collector's edition.

  • not funny, I already knew the lyrics by heart ¬¬

    but I still like

    ~take control take command~ D: xD

  • YES! I've been looking everywhere for this version!

    Thank you very much!

i will say that the instrumental is better when playing the game, while the vocal version is better when you're kicking back listening to music.

The instrumental just seems more consistent between battles.

Also, I'm glad they kept Worlds Collide the way it is.

  • Fuck, SE, what was the fucking point of altering a perfectly good song as is?! I mean jeez! :L

  • The problem with this track is that it is safe, compared to the vocals version, which broke boundaries. Nothing new or exciting, in this version, just the staple FF beat you've heard in every other game. The vocals added some flair to the already-stable FF beat, making it sound better.

  • I just downloaded the demo today and the part which you can play (featuring this music) immediately convinced me that I have to buy this game!

  • I like both versions. You people should come to accept the fact that everything change, even Final Fantasy series. If you can't accept it, then you don't have any purpose to dislike the game...

  • Less funky than the one with vocal. Really! I just dont feel it in this track

  • NOOOO, I WANT MY CHEESY RAPPING! D8

  • i guess adding a vocal/rap on theme is something new and never done on many those popular game that exist..Tekken for example

  • one M0:00re time :)

  • The best part about the vocal tracks, odd lyrics aside, is that they told a story about that particular part of the game from the POV of the characters. That's lost with an instrumental cut.

  • Noooooooooo! The rapping is the best part of the game T___T

A place in my heart, a place in my mind

a prayer for the souls there are running out of time (8)

    Come back T___T

  • The melody in this is really catchy, hopefully the one with lyrics is still in the game somewhere, they say it might be in a different timeline of Bresha ruins maybe.

  • Sabuscribiru!!!!!

  • YAY no rapping.

  • thank god they removed the rapping.

  • Thank god they removed the vocals....

  • Yeah I liked that cool leading synth replacing the vocal rapping. I didn't think the rapping was awful but this sounds better concentrating with the beats and synths.

  • @orwell9788 While I do miss the rapping after having it grow on me so much while running around the Bresha Ruins doing stuff, I really love the new sound that they've given the song. I just hope they don't remove lyrics from other songs, this is one of the few games where I actually liked almost every song with vocals on the soundtrack.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Same her, I really loved it. Should ofput a thing to put lyrcs ON or OFF

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Do you know if they took out the vocals on any other song? Namely New Bodhum, I hope they didn't

  • @TheAvidGamer91 By "Overseas" does this mean outside of Japan gets this version?
