I was wondering if you guys know a way to turn regular clothes into more goth style clothes. It would be really helpful since buying goth clothes is expensive and they are sometimes hard to come by in thrift stores where I live.

All I can suggest is black dye and spikes. You can usually buy them bulk at a leather repair shop.

I tried the dye thing but it didn't work out because I just made the colours darker :/

You could try making duct tape fabric by placing tape on a piece of paper on both sides and then cutting out your pattern and sewing it together to get the industrial goth look, or for getting tyhings to dye black better use less water and more black dye powder in a bucket and soak the garment overnight in the mix , make sure to stir it around though.

You could also sew black lace trim on things.
