This is one of my favorite videos out of all 6. This is what inspires me to quit. And totally am glad to hear someone put it bluntly "Caffeine addiction has lead many people to nervous breakdowns." That's exactly the way that it should be put. No one can sugar coat that.
you cannot taste the difference today between total decaf and real coffee... actually it's kinda stupid to drink the heavy duty coffee ! years ago.. decaf was HORRIBLE.. now it's incredible !
Caffeine can cause problems. It does so by 1) Taking away the natural highs and lows of life and replacing normal emotion with caffeine modulated chronic burnout and over-focus on more boring tasks, they might stick to things that arent the best; 2) Creating an insidious paradigm shift. From the moment a person decides they like a drug because of the way it makes them feel, their focus has shifted away from what they need to do to how they feel.
ok so once again I disproove you. I've been a caffeine junky for several years. and it hasn't kept me from expanding myself at all. over the last 3 years I've done more to expand myself than the previous 24 years of my life. I just bought a skateboard which I haven't done since I was 9 (at it was very breif then) I've also gone to 8 concerts and gone to parties and have made many new friends. now caffeine didn't have anything to do with this expansion of my life, but it did not kept me from it.
Some of us were awake whilst playig a role. I will be bold: there is an element in us all that is unadapted, uncompromised, unconditioned. But this society is so all-pesuasive we are so willing to agree to authority, for our daily bread, for out "peace" of mind. In this way I forget, sell out.
love for the Lord thy God and daily prayer is also very effective, not just for addiction, but for many issues in life. healing from the inside out.prayer and meditation.
This is all true of any addiction ...all stem from an imbalance. I guess the 1st addiction can be the job or relationship or all that we are so focused on DOING,instead of just BEING authentic...only doing that which feels good b/c we are acting from an inspired place of BEING first. We are conditioned to think (as coffee is 'normal' in the AM) that it is normal to focus on the job & mates and really anything outside of ourselves. It is normal to be one with our inner selves. Thanks for this.
Paused it because I wanted to immediately respond to something you said which i whole-heartedly agree with!! This year, my junior year of high school, the world totally changed. Its like you're thrown into this like a rock against a brick wall all of a sudden there are all these tests and you have to start thinking about what college you want to go and if your grades are good enough and if they aren't its stressful and its all just... its a lot!!
Quite wise! I cut out coffee on a regular basis a while ago - I have it once in a while - maybe once a week or once every two weeks on average. Your whole message resonates well with me - hopefully you'll make a few people think.
You got this guy who loves you being your hippy self but who is also an original hippy from the Haight/Ashbury era. I'm on your team. But I also have those years of being hammered into what we consider "middle of the road politics". Well, they tried, but the bastards still have'nt done anything about the legalization of marijuana. Cats don't like that. I don't like that. None of us like that. I hope Hillary will give a post to my friend.
I think coffee and tea are the beginners stimulent: I always got tea before i went to school, to 'wake me up' in the morning. Then after that, it was diet pills, to 'curb my appetite and slim me down'. I had to go to school high as a kite with big swollen pupils.:-( Now it's plain ol run of the mill antidepressant to get me out of bed in the morning. A brillaint video, as always, sweetie. :-)
For a seconds I thought you were going to say that caffeine was the cause of everything thing. That would be silly. I think you're right though that it can fill a void. As I move closer to my own mid life crisis I think it will be fun to explore what really is important. Next year I'll cast off the corporate fetters of employment and go live in the subarctic wilderness. Then I should have plenty of time to reconsider what's really important.
I try to struggle with my demons, but they're so slippery. Nasty little fuckers who will never let you get a grip. So I must make my peace with myself and let them worry about themselves.

The coffee wet balances the cigarette dry.
It's yin/yang. Very groovy.
Hey listen, I work hard [ahem].
