  • I have a laser black&white and it is cheap. I hate those printer companies, like Epson. Those son of bitches install micro-chip into the ink cartridge so even you refill it, the printer still said it is empty. This is just solo monopoly and I don't use their stuff anymore. I can just print 100 times more with the same amount of money with those laser printer.

  • I've never once had a problem with DIY refill ink. I have a $30 bottom of the line HP printer. I've never had a problem with anything once. And the blackest black is very good, as is the most vibrant color. HP "R and D" budgets should be cut, if they are making the HP ink prices soar. Because my $25 for 10 cartridges worth of pure ink is just as good :3

  • Man, wouldn't it be nice if there were websites that had tons of user reviews of proprietary ink, totally eliminating the "risk" of being unsatisfied with a refill cartridge?... oh wait

  • This video is so outlandishly misleading and outright false in places it really should cause a lawsuit.

  • Paying for views.... -_-

  • Wow, HP has lost so much market share that they have resorted to this type of propaganda? A youtube channel devoted to lying to the public in order to get some of those revenues back? Really? C'mon, HP should be above this. I always thought they were a good company.

  • You guys ever thought about using Hemp ink

  • I always buy 3rd party ink, because I refuse to fund executive bonuses by paying $20 for a thimble full of ink. You should just give your printers away, because you charge way more for ink than the printer is worth. Outrageous does not even begin to define it.

  • Now that's wild man.

  • 2:05 It seems to me that the pile on the right it quite a bit more then 65% larger than the pile on the left. It looks like its 120% more than the left pile. Numbers dont lie but that image is screaming a marketing ploy to stretch the truth.

  • Did you know they design ink cartridges to shut down even when they still have a good amount of ink in them?

  • who produced this? nova??? jk i like it...

  • but will it blend?

  • ohmigod get a haircut LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • As an ink tech at Cartridge World, I laugh at these criticisms towards refills. We test our cartridges every time before sale, including a standard test page, footprint, electronics test, and weight. We even fill our black more than HP. I love comparing their cartridges to bags of chips: Half of it's filled with air. People constantly come in saying that they receive more prints than OEM.

How does it feel knowing I'm making money off of your remanufactured products HP?

    -Cartridge World USA

  • I agree with generic ink, It does cost less, I get 4 inks for $4.99 from Amazon black, and 3 colored ones. I have yet to see a bad ink cartage or it running out faster then original one, which at some point I actually checked the page count of generic vs HP and generic was off by 10 pages. which is not much. Hey I saved 80% - 90% in cost. Why do you think the printers sold are so cheap? because they make a lot of money on ink therefore this video is pointless. If anything makes HP look bad.

  • get a gd haircut, hair is so terrible

  • I have a B209a HP Printer and it takes 3 color cartridges and 1 black. And when I buy generic brand I get 9 color and 4 XL black and with all that it is about the same price as the HP brand ink. So that is about 3 1/4 more than what you get for buying name brand. Plus I've been using it for a while and the quality is still very good ! Okay so for 4 refills of HP brand it will cost me $79.96 and for 13 generic brand (same) sized it will cost me around $65.00.Chances are I can't save that MUCH ink

  • This guy is what Sanji from One piece would like like if he was real.

  • Oh yeah? And what does HP has to say about Planned obsolescence ?

  • Really Thom? Really? Spilled coffee, ok, for a second lets pretend Im retarded and you did spill coffee. I guess the director was in such a hurry you couldnt tuck your shirt it like an adult, and I guess when you went to the bathroom to comb your hair, you just so happened to bump into Ellen Degeneres hair stylist. Please Thom do not insult this ink enthusiasts intelligence

  • @Thescreensaverr what intelligence? you completely ignored the fact that he was most likely being sarcastic. and what exactly defines what being "adult" is? Shigeru Miyamoto is 58 years old and at e3 he was dancing to the legend of zelda music and he's an adult.

  • i thought this was about harry potter:(

  • Dude. I saw this in the little feature thing and I totally thought it was going to be about Harry Potter tattoos. Woops. :)

  • What is Thoms Email Address?

  • clever marketing. Thats all HP is good for.

All of their printer "technology" is bought from Canon and Canon don't sell them the new stuff. HP is using 3yo Canon tech.

As for refills. It is a HUGE industry. Obviously otherwise HP wouldn't be making videos about it. If you want good refills use a reputable company like Cartridge World. They give me 100% satisfaction guarantee. I have never had a problem. But then I use Canon printers.

  • I dont get why people are shitting all over this video. I mean its marketing. This is much better than some of the other stupid shit we have to see.

  • This should be renamed "ink cartridge-ology" because I was actually hoping to learn something about inks and how they are made/mixed/etc. Well, I don't think inkology is a word so I guess I shouldn't complain.

  • Nice video, but I'll stay with Canon printing and ink. :-)

  • This is done so badly… why in the world are they making such a big deal about INK?! INK! The "facts" are cool but holy crap...

  • at first i mistook you for a different thom...

  • Holy shit, is that a banana in the cabinet? Their parties must be off the chain!

  • yep there's absolutely no way those statistics could be skewed..."There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics."-Mark Twain....You can quote statistics all you want...this isn't a logical it's a ton of marketing BS. You never answer why HP ink is more than 3rd party inks, you totally sidetrack the question and talk about oil and champagne and then talk about how "inexpensive" it is. If you're going to pose a question...answer it.

  • This video is interesting and makes its points beautifully except at the very end - the part about its being a coin-toss as to whether or not a customer will be satisfied - the "weakest" part of the entire video which is, otherwise, excellent! I have watched it several times, and I am intrigued by how persuasive and logical it is! Good job, HP and THOM!!! [And Thom, I like the way you dress! ;o) ]

  • Love how you use OfficeMax branded remanufactured cartridges instead of refilled cartridges... At least change the label on them first.

  • personally i don't like being lied to by advertising and don't see the point in trying to sell products like this. EPIC FAIL HP... but that's just one mans - imho

  • @4u2nvinmtl This is a parody, this ones not as obvious, but if you see the first one its pretty funny

  • I've also personally refilled my own ink jet printer cartridges. Granted HP engineers them so that you shouldn't refill them. I've saved so much money refilling my own. I guess they assume most people don't use that much ink because... There ink is empty and they don't wanna hassle with refilling/buying new cartridges or they buy their prints from a cheaper high quality photo printing store.

  • funny how you push the number of 6.25 for the monthly cost then 6.25 again as the likelihood that you get a working printer cartage. Its all a scam to get us to buy more HP junk. They make it like they are helping us get a better deal. I've bought alot of printers and done ALOT of color printing. The fact is that they assume you will use about 5% coverage per color per page. If i print a DVD cover its more like 30-50% coverage per page and thats about 10times less than they said you could print

  • @4u2nvinmtl Actually 6.25 is just 0.5 ^ 4

  • Dude, you're like 20 years too old to dress like that. And it's not hip HP.

  • @TandKC Well I was wearing my normal daily wear, khaki pants and an HP polo shirt, but on the way into the lab I spilled coffee all over me. Luckily there was a kid 20 years younger than me nearby, so I stole his clothes. Trust me, you’d rather see me in THESE clothes than NO clothes! ;-)

  • @PrintWithThom What kind of unprofessional marketing is this? I shall not partake in the purchasing of your products HP for what I have seen on this comment.
