@DoctorWhoLover08 so far the closest hes come is having part of his persona within Donna Noble, the DoctorDonna. mind u he is married to a ginger lady now
"the first doctor was played by william hartness, who everyone thinks of as an old man, i think he was only about 56 when the took the part on actually, they gave him a grey wig so he looked older than he was"
this show is literally the biggest thing on UK tv and has been for 7 years now. its a cultural icon and has been for nearly 50 years....and in all that time you'd really, really think the newsreaders would know to call him THE DOCTOR not Doctor Who
Even though this confidential is talking about the previous and the new Doctor, I think it's great that they talked about Chris as well because even though most people prefer David, he was a big part of bringing Doctor Who back and is very underestimated Doctor. He was funny, lovable and had a sort of scary madness about him so he was the perfect kind of Doctor to be after the time war. To me he was my favourite, all in all he should be acknowledged for his hard work. Thumbs up if you agree :)
@Medzee101 Who is Matt White? I assume you meant Matt Smith. But how do not think of Tom Baker and Peter Davison? My first exposure to Doctor Who was the new series but once I want back and watched some of the original series I found impossible not to fall in love with the fourth Doctor.
@apvideogame Yes, sorry i did mean Matt Smith. :/ I think the fourth doctor is cool also. I liked his wacky sense of style. The scarf. But Matt Smith will always be my favorite.
im a new fan and i love the show but ive only seen the new ones im on season 4 like 1/4 way through should i watch the original please tell me stuff just dont spoil the following seasons for me im appreciative if you do this thanks :D
@IanMalcolmTv Give them a try and see what you think of it, it's a different format and style to the new series and the stories are generally much longer so it might be a little off-putting at first.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
how do you turn a wacky/dramatic/bad ass series that Doctor Who (2005) was in series 1 through 4 (and was brilliant), and turn it into an unfunny slapstick mixed with over the top acting AND not very likeable characters is beyond me. THE TEMPLATE WAS RIGHT THERE! JUST DO WHAT THE SHOW DID RIGHT, DONT REINVENT THE DAMN WHEEL MOFFAT! :( Ruined a great show.
@RoyalGuard503 i am a proud RTD fanboy. i personally do prefer RTD's era. having said that i think the other guy is nuts and beyond a bit of mind fuckery in the series 5 finale, which was still loads entertaining, haven't got a bad word to say about the Moff's era or Matt Smith who is all kinds of awesome and i hope they stay on for a long while. basically i think its dumb to have to pick sides, its the same show, its been the same show since 1963
@robmbms how. how at all is it a lie. the fundamentals of the show are a centuries old alien time lord called the Doctor with a police box time/space ship thats bigger on the inside with help from friends routinly combats injustice from throughout the universe, particularly on earth (as he does hold a special favouritsm towards it), without overtly resorting to physical force. that is the fundamental of the show. thats literally the only stuff that has remained utterly unchanged in 50 years
@227060 I see what you're saying but actually I was refering to the style of the show. What I mean is if you watch a Hartnell story and then straight after that you watch a Matt Smith story, you can see how different it has become. Although I agree the basic story is still the same, the way stories are presented to us nowadays has just completely changed if you know what I mean. I just couldn't quite believe it was "exactly the same" in every respect.
@robmbms yeah but he wasn't talking about the style of the show. i mean the style was forever changing. if you watched even An Unearthly Child and then the last complete Hartnell storyline you will see changes. equally Pertwee's stories were arguably the biggest departure the show has ever had, even now (note bcos of him i never mentioed the doctor travelling bcos with Pertwee he didn't). and then there are the 80s stories, again stylaistically different to 1970s stories...
@227060 ...DW has forever been tv for its time (i mean Colin Baker's coat is so 80s). with that in mind we must remember that had the show continued in the 90s intot he 2000s we either would've seen it basically become what it is now or alternativly become anachronistic. but bcos there was no DW tv in 90s the style sort of just JUMPS to what it is now. i mean serials and stuff just do not exist outside of minseries nowdays, and tv is much faster nowdays...
@227060 ...theres other stuff that has changed in style eg ppl claim today's show is too 'modern' but again the old show was always contemporary. Happiness Patrol for instance, say what you will, but its clearly critiquing Thatcher's then government, te Cybermen were created when transplants were just coming in. whtsmore the more radical stuff like the Doc in love, multi-cultural companions, none-hetero companions, that stuff had been done in 90s DW books, plays and comics long b4
Maybe I'm just a tad conservative, but I don't believe the Doctor should ever be female; just as Jenny (or whatever Gallifreyan name she takes) shouldn't ever be male. His daughter should always be HIS, DAUGHTER.
Catherine Zeta-Jones could indeed be a Time Lord, though. Romana, anyone?
Alan Davies as the Doctor! XD That would be epic! And I think David Morrisey would be great as the 12th Doctor, he was brilliant in 'The Next Doctor'.
He got more or less dragged into the hero business.
In many ways, he hasn't changed at all:
The Mad grin, the unlikely weapons(Good ol' walking Cane of doom), the mysteriousness, the bragging and the evasivess concerning, uh 'domestic' matters. His farewell from Susan reminded me so much of the part were the tenth Doctor set Rose off in Journey's End.
@bindiyay: It's on youtube, I think. The episode is called "The Dalek invasion of earth". Susan fell in love with a resistance Fighther on earth, but the Doctor knew that she'd never leave him - so he took an old shoe of her's, locked her out of the tardis and explained the Situation from within without facing her, and disappeared from there, making that hard decision for her. So Susan stayed with her boyfriend - and the Doctor started picking up young girls...
@KendrixTermina I like Hartnell too altho he is arguably funnier/ more interesting an incarnation when you consider that in all truthfullness he is like the Doctor's teenage years. he is older certainly, but only in body, he hasn't actually done all the things the Doctor of today has, he isn't as old or as wise or as damaged, hje isn't a legend, rather he is MAKING the legend there and then
Ahhh, 9 and 10. They were fantastic AND brilliant. And now 11 is ... cool.
