  • @Megahammerheadshark It's the Pacific Surfliner. It's only in California and it runs between San Louis Obisbo through Los Angeles and terminates in San Diego.

  • NO BELLS

  • I love San Clemente.!

  • I don't understand why a video of the train rolling down tracks though a station in San Clemente at the end of Del Mar has 30k views and plenty comments. Yet here I am commenting.... And I watched it like 6 times.

  • probably because with the right kind of eyes, there is a story in it. (: thanks for watching.

  • @stuckinadazzee cinema... and thanks for watching. I love the language of trains... this kind of open-ended suspense to it.

  • How come it didn't stop? Isn't San Clemente a surliner stop?

  • yeah, your information is incorrect. 2 surfliners in each way stop there.

  • only certain surfliners stop at San Clemente. Only 2 or 3 trains stop there in each direction each day.

  • Sounds like the driving vehicle trailer(DVT) has got a flat on one of the wheels.

This is caused by the braking system locking the wheels up and sliding over the rail. This leads to a flat wearing into the tyre of the wheel.

you can detect this by the continual knocking sound as the wheel revolves. Can cause derailments if not attened to.

Have walked to the end of this pier.

  • Good ears, crap!

Can one get a flat spot on only one wheel?

Flat spots are very slight. Shouldn't be a problem unless severe, which usually only happens on freight cars which do not have disk brakes.

Do these LED crossing signalamps have a light in the side ports to tell if the lamps are operating? Incandescent bulb lamps have the widows where you can see the bulb filaments illuminating.

  • The ones we use have white LEDs on the sides where the little window used to be letting you know they are working. Actually, they are MUCH easier to see when approaching the crossing than the old version.

  • Thanks Mil.

I have never seen LEDs withose white indicators.

If they upgrade to LEDs, must they replace the whole signal head ?

Or do retrofit LED lamps have white lights which shine through the old filament windows?

I know what you mean about the narrow visibility angle.

My great uncle, a steam locomotive engineer, complained about a crossing on a sharp curve.

He could not see the bulb filaments because of the way the signals were facing.

    They are a good idea!

    Thank you.

  • Whats funny about sanclemente is if you go to the end of the pier and you have a scanner you can get the sdnr detector at 210.3 at the nuclear plant so you have about a 5 min warning before the train arrives.

  • crossing use to be my favorite when it was mechanical bells and incandescent lights. kinda burned out on E-bells. nice vid!

  • Are those Safetran Fade or Harmon Fade LED's?

  • They're Safetran.

  • Those crossing bells are Annyoying

  • They're Western-Cullen-Hayes Type 2 Electronic Bells.
