  • This is so tacky, and so raunchy, and so violent..I Love It!!!!! :D

  • @LadyLotus74 for the time , its not to far from what was going on.

  • @dmalmostwan This really reminded me of a more dirty version of American Pop. The way real backgrounds were used for animated characters. I want the DVD now. :D

  • 2:50 - Way to waste a shit-ton of food, Michael.

  • Does it refer to just men? I know a non jewish woman is a "Shiksa"

  • @MightyPopzilla goy is hebrew for nation, goyim means nations. "the nations" was a way to refer to all the non-jews, the nations as in "all those other people of the world"

so goy refers to men and women, and a group of goy would be goyim

shiksa is yiddish (which is like hebrew and german smashed together) and only refers to women

  • whats a 'goy'?

  • @MightyPopzilla

    a non jewish person

  • @MightyPopzilla

According to the Dictionary, a 'Goy' is an informal (often offensive) name for anyone who is non-Jewish.

  • Ralph Bakshi, what did you parents do to you!

  • @IcePirate3 I find that comment very amusing for some reason.

  • XD the pigion dumb fucker 6:42

  • wen the hell was this made?!

  • @kakuzurapesu

    1972

  • @gatheringleaves ......oh well thank u for tellin me cause knowing is have the battle J I FORMERS

  • this dude is awesomely fucked up

  • It's creepy how that lady slaps her breast and then putting it her dress.

Then again I wonder why Ralph Bakshi puts in live action sequences with his animation. I guess to symbolize the situations in a rather odd and surreal manner.

  • dude why does she slap her tit before she puts it back in her bra??

  • Any particular reason why Michael's mom keeps pulling out her tit and playing with it?

  • @tripdefect87 It's like she's letting you know that she's a woman and don't mess with her. I think it's hilarious.

  • @fngrscr8dstroui

What about Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki's stuff, Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke, Wicked City, Fist of the North Star, Metropolis, Paprika, Cowboy Bebop The Movie, Golgo 13 The Professional, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Animatrix, Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend etc.?

  • The dad does look like Homer and sounds like Jimmy Durante

  • "I set you free and you shit on me!!" LOLOLOLOL Ahhh film at it's best.

  • wow this stuff is worse than family guy and southpark

  • @EKmion

Nothing is as bad as hentai movies when it comes to adult animation. you know what hentai is?

  • @Johnlindsey289 no what is hentai mean?

  • @EKmion

What about Drawn Together and The Boondocks?

  • Homer and Marge before they got big.

  • This Movie is so real, even though its a cartoon...

"ain't nobody there,...I ain't there...Even yo' Pigeon aint there, sure he flys like hes there, but he can't do it unless u open the cage...and he got to come back cuz hes trained too..."

SO deep, not just an adult toon

  • you know...as hard as it is too tell....i bet this movie was loaded with cultural symbolism.

  • weeez all niggaz boy

  • DUDE the fuck he just tossed al lthat really good fuckin food even saw that fuckin swiss cheese reall good

  • @sygo7g Which one of my posts are responding to? I haven't looked at HEAVY TRAFFIC in over a year.

  • 4:30 - i didn't know crack was around in the 70's, lol

  • @goodvibesallround ...dude, that's pretty much when it became popular! Besides, he wasn't doing crack, he was doing marijuana, hence him calling it 'shit'.

  • @fngrscr8dstroui I like the late 70s early 80s most. your right as times progress so does art and animation. I remember back when "ANIME" still ment "HENTAI"

  • @ottselguy

And you think Fritz The Cat and Heavy Traffic since both are X-rated animated movies paved the way for hentai including that naughty tentacle stuff?

  • "who died?" "someone close...." "anyone I know?" "YOU DIED!*BONG" i laughed

  • it's a shame Raplh isn't teaching. I plan on taking a class personally taught by Don Bluth. I'd Love to do the same for Bakshi.

  • OMG! Evil face at 3:42! lol

Does anyone know where part 3 is??

  • One of the best and funniest films.

  • Thank gawd your mother needs glasses!

  • Now I'm not saying which character, but Crazy Moe speaks one line that harkens to the future film COONSKIN where Brother Rabbit echoes the same quote.

  • I love the heart that Bakshi always manages to coax out of his characters. It's too bad that independent animation in the style of his true vision is at such a disadvantage in the modern market. The world needs more fantasy.

    And superfluous graphic cartoon nudity

  • i agree with, be open for all types of art. But to me personally, manga looks like it was drawn by a robot, it lacks 'character' and emotion and it all looks the same. for example the hair on his arm, it adds alot to the atmosphere, but you would never see that in anime.

  • i couldn't agree more. they have a super sharp chin, a sharper nose, huge round eyes to compensate for their tiny eyes in real life, it takes a hundred episode to characterize someone and when you get there, you find out they just have some emo issues LIKE EVERY OTHER DAMN CHARACTER.

here, i see flat and round characters created through dialouge and a funky cartoony style. the viewer can watch this much easier and in less time than anime, b/c i don't have that much time.

  • lupin the third has hair on his arm

  • 1:01....I couldn't help but laugh. A Jew shoving somebody into an oven. If he had been German I think I would've pissed myself. XD

  • lol kinda ironic huh

  • Indeed it is. lol

  • @ometta7 I was thinking the same thing

  • Ida looks that deranged babysitter from the Simpsons.

  • Camparing art is useless.

Is jazz better than blues, is Japanese religious iconography better than Byzantine.... it's all useless and shows a lack of appreciation for all art.

You don't have to look/listen at anything you don't like, and time, distance and tools have given us so many wonderful arts.

Learn to love it all... that's the hard thing.

  • when it comes to animation, I much prefer Western. I love Japenese art but Anime and Manga's style isn't really my thing.

  • I think what seperates stuff like this from anime is that Bakshi's stuff approaches it to make it funny ( or satrical).

  • comparing old vintage pieces of animation like this to a modern day anime like Black Lagoon is like comparing an old pirate duckfoot pistol to a 9mm pistol. One is more practical in a firefight sure, but the other one makes for a better conversational piece...not dissing black lagoon though since it's one of the few animes I actualy like.

  • kitsch i mean.

  • HEY NEO.ralph is in a class all his own.literally no one else did this kind of movie. where is there another bakshi in film history? he set out on his own path. and very few could pull it off content wise. except maybe melvin van peeples. and he didnt do animation. this kind of kitch was rare even in the 70's.

  • this is preatty damn good, never seen it before. who'd thunk it, ralph bakshi an experimental filmmaker?

  • fritz the cat is funnier but this is ok too.

  • It'd be funnier if the food landed on a hobo and they animated the hobo being all happy about the bounty of food.

  • blink blink--whoa

haha, is this cartoon, but porn??

  • @Turquoise66

Not quite and not quite hentai either, it was rated X then got re-rated R. If you want cartoon porn you should watch Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend.

  • 2:51 - What a waste of food.

  • hey what is the genre of these type of movies like this and ftritz the cat and kinda like american splendor........ I know that putting things in a box is bad but still i want to find more movies like this

  • hoo hoo ,looks craaazy

    interesting tho

  • This cartoon is is dirty and raunchy even to today's standards.

  • HEAVY TRAFFIC was mas produced in 1973. It preceded BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD and SOUTH PARK by 20 to 25 years and it makes both seem almost wholesome.

  • I'll never see cartoons in the same light again,

  • You didn't find HEAVY TRAFFIC to be funny?

  • Like I said, this cartoon is too raunchy for tastes.

  • Have you seen the Japanese animated movies? now they make some raunchy including fucked up animated movies for adults.

  • Name one particular Japanese animated movie?

  • Like "Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend", have you seen that one? a very infamous NC-17 rated animated movie from Japan for adults that is a horror fantasy erotic flick that has graphic scenes of gore, exploding heads, rape, tentacled demons fucking college chicks, decaptitions, mutilations, masturbation, sex, bisexuality and every excess around. More raunchier then any Bakshi film or Heavy Metal and more gorier and more fucked up.

  • When i saw Heavy metal for the first time, I was dissapointed, Japanese animation pushes the envelope so much farther as far as mature material. I have never seen overfiend (for obvious reasons) but i heard the same shit about it. Black Lagoon has some stuff about children that will make ur head spin, not to mention BERSERK, probably the most successful adult manga out there.

  • berserk? what's wrong with berserk? berserk was pretty beautiful. i loved it. although, i didnt really see the bad ending everyone talks about.

  • No haven't seen that film and it doesn't sound like my cup of tea the way you described it.

  • Well Urotsukidoji is just animated porn drowned in sex and gore. Have you seen Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Wicked City, Ninja Scroll, Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke, The Professional: Golgo 13 and Metropolis? all excellent anime movies from Japan.

  • I saw all that that last night on Sailor Moon!

  • Gore does not make a movie "adult". The characters and story does. And that's one thing japanese animation lacks. It's as faceless as superhero cartoons

  • What about stuff like Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Grave of the Fireflies, Hayao Miyazaki's stuff, etc.? all story and character wise.

  • and sex. lets not forget sex.

  • That's not fair. Japanese animation has plenty of character. They just happen to be more attractive.

  • You mean the girls are more attractive! even Bakshi made some fine girls.

  • and cloned....

  • @fealasy in the defense of american super hero's alot of them do have deep stories I fondly remember the old OLD batman comics. when he was a badass and killed criminals

  • I just think you have to look a little harder. Mivies like Heavy Traffic are just as reare in American Culture as the movie Grave of the Fireflies was to Japanese Culture. In fact, If you read more of the manga post WW2, that stuff is pretty gritty. Ever read "Push man"?

  • @fealasy That's a bit of a generalization. The kind of Japanese animation you are talking about is populist mainstream entertainment. It's hard for animators in Japan nowadays to make things they love. If they don't sell, they can't survive. There are still a lot of great artists working in Japanese animation though.

  • @fealasy you havent been watching the right anime man

  • You obviously haven't watched alot of anime my friend

  • @fealasy I guess you haven't taken your time to get into japanese cartoons... If you're talking about stuff like Dragonball, it's just a portion of what manga's about. It might be very different from this, but to say it's shallow says more about you than about manga.

  • @fealasy I disagree regarding the stories of (many) Japanese animations. Generally, I've found that they have complex plots and characters. However, I still prefer American animation. Japanese culture often tends to value conformity in art as a means of respect. That's why most Japanese animation is drawn in a very homogeneous style. American animators, on the other hand, tend to value individualism. Hence the great variety in styles.

  • @jgwest1

well actually there are many Japanese animations with unique styles of art, have you ever seen Angel's Egg or Monster, both of those are Japanese and are not the stereotypical anime style, also many manga are very unique artistically

  • @gatheringleaves That's cool - I haven't seen Angel's Egg or Monster, but I will have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendations.

  • @jgwest1

Yes you really should they both are very strange but dark and not cliched anime at all. Both have very unique looking characters. Have you checked them out yet?

  • @fealasy

For anime: Grave of the Fireflies, Serial Experiments Lain, Fullmetal Alchemist, and dozens of others.

For superhero cartoons: BRUCE. MOTHERFUCKING. TIMM.

  • @fealasy I doubt you've seen enough anime to know that.

  • @fealasy Characters and story are actually two things, not one.

  • @farawayreach

Where did she say that characters and story are one?

  • moe is right... No body is dere no more.

  • I cet you free AND YOU SHIT ON ME !!!

  • my favorite line XD

  • You see the metaphor here? I just did. Freedom comes at a price. With freedom, you get shit, and nothing really goes anywhere at all.

  • I love these movies but sometimes they annoy the crap out of me. I don't hate it either :p

  • 9:10 was funny as hell

  • as bad as things can get now, Im glad I don't live then, Im happy to be alive now and not in those years..hopefully things get better in the next 36 years.

  • Did anyone else hate it when he threw all that food out the window?

  • I did.

  • "Look what you did to me! I WUZ A MOMMY! AN ADORABLE MOMMY!!!"

  • i saw this movie when I was 7...

    lol, good times!

    =]

  • this shit was thrust me right into adulthood if i saw it at 7 lol

  • Great movie!

  • were're all niggas boy... most of us don't know it yet.

  • "AND YO PIGEON'S A NIGGAH! HAHAHAhAA That's why...I'm gonna kill him."

  • "MOE! YOU AINT GONNA DO SHIT"

  • "Everybody... everybody PLAYS like dey 'Dere. But They AIN'T DERE. I ain't there. your pigeon ain't there!! It just... sit in that FUCKING CAGE!"

  • if they took Micheal and Moe's interactions And gave the two a spin off series on like adult swim/ detour teletoon. and got ralph bakshi too direct.. ID WATCH IT!!!!!

  • happy birthday ralph bakshi

  • Angie: Your Mother Is A Goddamn Crazy Bitch, Michael!

(An axe almost hit his nuts)

Holy Crap! That was funny! XD

  • Ida's boobs are nice for an old lady.

  • i love how she just slaps em back in there XD

  • @Felidaise indeed

  • roof bum....why don't he just jump!!!hahahahaha

  • LSD trip bro!!!!!!

  • We're all crazy niggers. lol

  • Ain't it the truth though?

  • haha I guess it must be!

  • I watched this movie on lsd. at around the 7 minute 27 second mark.....that got pretty strange...those evil women.....and then in part 6(check my next comment on that post)

  • This movie confuses the hell out of me.

  • Not following the metaphor "Heavy Traffic"? Let me brake it down for you. Bakshi, in his own subtle way, let's audiences glimpse into the F-ed up corruptedness of his birthplace, New York. The CHARACTERS? Allegorical/physical Exaggerations. THEMES? NY'S True Colors. The IDEA? New York is where you win/lose fast, live/die fast, Fuck. Blinking lights, Rude bastards, Wild rides, Fuck. Essentially, It's kind of like a game of Pinball, also seen in the Opening. Get it?

  • the game of pinball is a further metaphor. The paddles are what control you have in life, and everything the ball (the individual) hits is what happens to you in life.

  • As far from his biography Bakshi was born in the town of Haifa in what was what was then the British mandate of Palestine, ten years befor it became that the State of Israel. But his parents moved to New York City a year after his birth to escape WWII.

  • Before the UN Resolution, huh... Never knew that!

  • That's right . According to Wickapedia, Bakshi's fled Palestine for the United States in 1939 the year World War II broke out. Apparently his parents were afraid that Hitler's armies would overrun the whole of Europe then invade Russia, then the Middle East and finally attack and conquer Palestine and murder all the Jews there.

  • my folks fucked on haight st. 1968 me born 1969 summer, bummer of love .i like the way all people talked and stood up .me 38 old s.f punk band .you young,ns get vote,n watch a clasic animation :where the wind blows,

  • What the?

  • Old trippers like this get a kick outta being all f'd up the boards. He probablly writes poetry and wears cheap shoes..."America is great.old is you. me young and proud for the times a changin'. night train leads to presidential election for the union of idiots. sad for the song, sad for the future."

See, anyone can do it! hehehe

  • I saw this movie on cable TV. I don't remember what movie channel it's on. Fritz was also on too.

  • Fritz? Damn, must of been one hell of a channel, lol

  • is all this on the DVD?

  • Yeah, you can find it on amazon.

  • I wish Coonskin was on DVD, as well. Most (if not all) of Bakshi's other works are.

  • Um it is on DVD..

  • I think this movie inspired also heavily on the film On the Waterfront.

  • I can hear Bakshi in the garment district scene. It seems like he likes some of the more ample ladies, instead of the sticks that Twiggy made popular. Great post.

  • The photo shoot scene is one of the eeriest, most surreal things I've ever seen in a movie. It feels like some kind of slow-moving nightmare. You know, the kind of dream where you're floating, and nothing is really grabbable, and you can't move through space very well, and everything's dark and threatening and strange.

    Hm. Actually, that's Bakshi's world, period. :)

  • no wonder why he called this Heavy Traffic. IT IS HEAVY!!!!!!

  • if you think this movie was offensive you should see Coonskins another Bakshi film. but back in '73 people we're more tolerant and P.C. didnt exist...I miss those days

  • i know. WTF is with P>C

  • I don't think "tolerant" is exactly the word, since the 70s were closer to Jim Crow than today.
