  • How do you save changes? Every time i boot it up i need to redo everything.

  • @Dominator94100 You need to format a USB memory stick with ext2, e.g. mkfs.ext2 -I 128 /dev/sda1. This deletes all data on the stick. You need to stop the autoboot of kernelloader by pressing a button on the pad. Then you need to add the kernel parameter in the configuration menu:

    writedev=/dev/sda1

This configuration can be saved in the file menu. The menu entry "Boot current config" will start it. You can also use the internal hard disc. This is called hda instead of sda.

  • I didn't know that the ps2 had internet

  • You need to decompress it. There is an ISO DVD image in the archive. This should be burned to a DVD (DVD-R is recommended for best quality).

  • @VideoDeasaster For me everything is fine until i start the web browser. In status bar I read that "DNS was not able to resolve google.com" or something like that. How can I set up my network connection? I have an Internet router wich I've connected to my PS2 Slim and I've already set up a network connection using a game with multiplayer feature. Can you help me please? Thanks in advance.

  • @fjoseantunes Normally the PS2 Linux gets the network configuration via DHCP. All internet routers should be able to do it. If it is not working, you can configure PS2 Linux on the command line.

  • @fjoseantunes Here is a video for a newer Linux, but the commands are the same: Search for the youtube video with the title: Backtrack 4 -Network Connections tutorial!

  • does this need to stay at a .7z file or must it be decompressed?

  • I have a question, is this a form of installation, or is this just temporary? like if you take the disk out it will go back to normal? I just want to ensure that this won't harm my gaming functionality.

  • @obito94 It starts without modifying anything. If you just use the graphical applications, it doesn't change anything on the PS2. It should not harm your gaming functionality. If you are a PS2 Linux expert, you will be able to change the content of the memory card or the hard disc, but then you know what will be changed.

  • @VideoDeasaster okay, so if I just burn what I need to cd/rw, the I can simply run it without modification.

  • @0000sakis On the download page there is the text "mirror" in the upper half. There you can choose a better server. Maybe a different web browser is working better (e.g. firefox or google chrome).

  • You need a method to start homebrew software on your Playstation 2. I think most people use FMCB, but it is not working with newer models (SCPH-9000x). The media player from old Action Replay Max should also work with newer models. The media player can directly start kloader.elf from a USB mass storage device. If you use modchip, you need to convert the DVD image from DVD video to normal DVD ROM (remove directories VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and burn as DVD ROM data).

  • Hi people after booting this DVD the only thing that works is message appearing on the screen and saying:

This is a Linux Live system for the Sony Playstation 2. ...

What should I do next ?? please help

  • @cepi24 You need a method to start homebrew software (google FMCB). You need to start kloader.elf which is located on the disc. But this information is also printed on the screen.

  • The program loads the configuration from the disc then autostart begins. The first menu entry should work (boot current config). Otherwise you need to load the configuration from the DVD in the file menu.

  • A normal TV can be used. All types of output is supported. There is no network adapter needed to start it. Bluetooth and WLAN is not supported. USB network adapters may not work.

  • What do I need to chose after loading kernelloader?

  • @asgardharmony First menu entry "boot" needs to be selected, but the disc has auto boot. If you used it before you need to load the default configuration and then the configuration from the DVD in the file menu.

  • Nice, i will try this DVD. But i don't have network adapter :( ...

Can i use a bluetooth-usb and phone modem to connect to internet ?

  • @rablamati No. There is a development version of Linux 2.6 which supports this, but this is not ready for simple usage.

  • I need the vga cable and a PC monitor to run the live dvd ps2 or just the tv enough

  • question, one needs some kind of removable hard drive or to use the linux or linux can be used only with DVD disc as a game I hope you answer me thanks

  • @JGFD16 You don't need a hard disc. Everything is loaded from the DVD.

  • Nice.. I really like to use LiveDVD....

It just one thing I dont like the way Dilo shows web-pages[

Would be nice to use different web-browser/
