you can prevent window crashes by putting blinds on the windows and keeping them closed when the birds are out. it gives the birds something to land on and cling to if there scared.also never try to catch them midair.

@morgasm36 I have always allowed my budgies and other birds to fly around my house. I have never had this happen, but maybe if you scared them enough they might fly into a window. I made sure my birds felt safe and knew they were near their cage. Most of the time they stayed on or in their cage anyway.

It's because I'd love to get some more plants in my room, but my budgies love to eat EVERYTHING that could taste, xD so of course I had to remove all the toxic plants. Now there is just one plant left at all :,(.

hey guys. i just got a budgie bird, and she seems to love this. she keeps chirping back, and she loves her reflextion. i'm thinking i should get her another bird since she seems so lonely, but i read online that sometimes getting another bird is a bad idea, because they will only bond to eachother, not to the owner. thanks for your help!

Well I own two budgies myself and what you say is true in my case , they both bond to each other and wont let me get close to them. But I believe that it also depends on the budgie's character... Sometimes it is possible to tame them even if they are very bond to each other... But one thing that is sure is that she will be happier if she has a companion...

Consider which is more important to you: A happy, lively budgie who plays, chirps, snuffles and flys with his friend who is always there for her even when you dont have time to or lonely, depressed budgie who sits alone in her cage with nothing to do when you are at school/work, with your friends, asleep or otherwise not there for her.

Lets not even consider this, okay? Just get him a friend. Its really worth it. :) Budgies are much nicer to watch when they have someone to play with.

My budgies love listening to other budgies. They chirp back so much. I let my budgies go wondering around. I don't have many places they could get into and they stay to the same spots usually. They do it all on their own and go as a flock. So cute!

A flight cage is what you want and even then it is great if you have a safe room to allow them to fly around in. The only problem is that they do tend to peck things like screens and books, anything you don't want them to:p and you also have to make sure it is safe-- always close the lids on toilets, etc.

I bought it in Belingham Washington at a local feed store. I suggest checking online, though. It is definitely possible to get them less expensive than you would think. I can also make a suggestion on how to build an aviary from screens at Home Depot for less than $200 last time I checked.

Oh, they def-i-nate-ly mate frequently, but when they do lay eggs, I remove them. They seem pretty happy, and I am happy not to have any babies. If you want babies, provide them with a nesting box-- available at any pet store. But babies also tend to mean more fights between birds so be careful.

Not really-- I had one budgie of seven-- the bright yellow one who would stand and let me pick her up, but I have read the extreme patience and NOT chasing them will allow them to learn your hand is safe. Millet is a good treat to reward them for allowing you to hold them.
