Wow. I listened to this when I was a boy. My mom had the play on an album that we wore out. I wished we'd kept it. I'd at least like to have tried to find a digital reproduction. But this is a *great* version. Thanks so much. Beautifully done. It brought back some old emotional memories.

My class is singing this! Only the girls though. On Tuesday our choral teacher got us to leave a message for her friend who was in the hospital. We sang this song on the message because our teacher thought it was so beautiful! Ours is three part harmony though and at some points four or five part. It's SSA with the soprano splitting at one point and the mezzo-soprano splitting at another point. It's sooo pretty!

This is without a doubt the best version of this duet on YouTube. Why? First, Carrie's voice is angelic, and Madison provides perfect balance and shading to Hansel's part. Second, impeccable enunciation. Third, the costuming and makeup are charming, Finally, and what really sets this apart from more "professional" versions (Battle/vonStade), is you really get the feeling that they are children, with Carrie's eyes nervously darting around and Madison's semi-open mouthed gape of a boy sleeping.
