  • Is that Kurt Cobain on bass...........?

  • this reminds me a bit of the buzzcocks (which of course is a good thing).

I love graham so much, jesus his guitar skills...when he does the fast little bit at the end of the chorus (not quite sure what it's called) I really am mind blown!

love his solo stuff, but still glad blur are getting back together for the nme's :-)

  • @chchchcherrybomb37 The main riff 'Into the Valley' by The Skids.

  • @Easyandy100 Its similar. This wouldn't be out of place in the late 70's

  • @gizzytiersen Great stuff though.

  • why do artists tend to play songs at a faster tempo when they are playing live??

  • @4kingdave Nerves and excitment. I like it. Adds a certain je nais se quoi.

  • ...Its fucking great to see Graham do something so different from Blur!! Talented guitar player and writer. Shame Noel gallagher has come out with the same plodding dull shit he has been coming out with for years. Noel had the chance to show his own talent, but couldnt come up with anything different!! Shame... that shows his true talent. ie not much!! I`m very disappointed with Noel Gallagher. Not that good really!

  • @coltsuperocean10 that is not a fair statement. noel gallagher's been the only songwriter in oasis. graham coxon went from blur to solo. noel went from noel gallagher's oasis to noel gallagher's high flying birds.

  • Yeah, sounds like Sex Pistols

  • A very good song, by a great great man.

  • He plays like Townshend

  • He has the guitar of my dreams, even the colour is right, such a weird coincidence.

    Give it to me please.

  • Fucking class

  • that was excellent

  • GOOD....

  • Sweet SG Jr

  • No matter hom many times I listen to this track, it can't shake the eerie resemblance to the Skids "Into The Valley". But if you want to distance your solo work 180 degrees from Brit-pop why not draw inspiration from 70's Brit-punk. No more "Country House" unless it's a Blur reunion show.

  • @beeceesp Why is everyone so hell-bent on insisting this sounds *nothing* like Blur or Britpop when it transparently still has some of that DNA? Britpop grew out of a variety of styles, including UK punk and mod: The Jam, Buzzcocks, anyone? This really is more like a cousin to Blur than a total stranger.

  • @pyenapple -.Britpop was a term coined by British music rags to categorize songs written by Damon Albarn (his backlash against American "Grunge"). Britpop is truly 180 away from Punk, and was characterized as "Chimney sweep music" by Liam Gallagher, who was outraged at being lumped with Blur in the "invented" battle of "Britpop". Oasis were a rock band. Graham Coxon left Blur after he disowned "Country House" and wanted to "rock". Coxon borrowed this riff from 70's punk, specifically The Skids

  • @beeceesp Britpop was way more catch-all than that, and included punk in the boulliabaise. Even "Modern Life Is Rubbish", the seminal template for what would become Britpop, owed a great deal to punk, more in the threads that went through it than any direct and pure outward expression, but Graham's always channeled that stuff. It really is not 180 degrees away.

  • @pyenapple Your obvious passion for music (and writing) seems to have no use for facts. I would suggest (ever so politely) that you watch the film "No Distance Left To Run". In it, you will learn the Genesis of Britpop from "the players" and hear from the music writers of the time who describe in vivid detail the motives and behind the scenes machinations of the short-lived (anti-American music) movement. Punk music by the way IS American, brought back to England from NYC by Malcom McLaren.

  • @beeceesp Whatevs. If you don't hear that there was more there than Kinks worship, I don't know what to say. Carry on.

  • @pyenapple You must be a riot to hang out with at an art gallery. I was trying to be nice. Watch the film. (You can download it on itunes) Knowing you as I do, I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.

  • @beeceesp I have it, silly. And I wasn't being mean. I'm not sure what "You must be a riot to hang out with at an art gallery" is supposed to mean. I am pretty fun to hang out with at an art gallery. Are you asking me out?

  • Pure punk music really and good!!

    Coxon is an awesome guitarist.

  • Seriously - nowhere near Blur, is it?

    Nice try though Coxon!

  • @Daarkinitup I prefer Blur myself, but this is cool; I like it.

  • @Daarkinitup Erm, it doesn't really sound that different from some Blur stuff.

  • Virtuoso punk!

  • like this song a lot...graham's voice is enchanting.even better than damon's

  • Love this song. Its great with James Corden on drums. Ha ha

  • I honestly don't know why they did'nt play Graham Coxons songs at the Hyde Park concerts........Grahams solo albums are far more like Blur than flaming Gorillaz!! or good bad and the "queen".

  • lol grahams doing 100mph in this vid !

  • Blur should be playing Graham's songs live!!!

  • They dont play damons or gorillazs ...so no

  • @plentymore21 No disrespect, but Graham should play Graham's songs. Damon should play Gorillaz. And whenever, if ever, Blur ever have the urge to perform again, they should play Blur's songs out of respect to each other, to the fans and to the memory of what they (Damon, Graham, Alex and Dave) created together.

  • the skids- into the valley intro

  • @killamangiro91 yeah, and the Bittersweet bundle of misery intro sounds a lot like Coffe and TV as well.

  • Sounds like a cross between The Skids, The Buzzcocks and Jilted John

  • your mum sucks monkey nuts

  • Your two fathers suck each others donkey dicks, while you're sticking your head up their arses...

  • Good comment man. +++

  • Sounds more like chas and dave than johnny rotten.. Graham's ace !!!

  • He looks a little bit like a young Pete Townshend, and the SG and that riff (which sounds like it could have been copped from "Live at Leeds") makes me wonder if he did that intentionally.

  • "He looks a little bit like a young Pete Townshend, and the SG and that riff (which sounds like it could have been copped from "Live at Leeds") makes me wonder if he did that intentionally."

Coxon's a huge Townshend fan. From time to time he'll even adopt Pete's flamenco strumming technique. He's not as good at it as the God father of punk, but Coxon betters him in other areas.

  • this is the best indie song ever

  • Yeah, except the music that goes along with it is good.

  • Without his glasses, Graham looks like he's on coke. lol Although, the music does kind of suggest that,

  • he is missing some glasses and a yellow telecaster!!

  • yeh, not the same dude

  • what?? do you know what your talking about lol

  • omg.

not the same dude withouth the tele and glasses

of fucking course i know HE IS THE SAME GUY

    gee...

  • nothing like rotten.

    his voice sounds really unique

  • Temazo!

  • Graham y Blur SOn Fantasticos<!

  • graham coxon is just fucking excellent. I love blur more though but still, what a fucking brilliant guitarist.

  • @rhbrhb05 brilliant talent in a nutshell:) this song says it all

  • @rhbrhb05 I dont know much of his work. But during this performance he is staring at his guitar the whole time even though it has a really simple chord progression. He should be watching the audience. These guys have poor 'image' especially.

  • WHO?

  • Some skids.

  • Phenominal.

  • One of the greatest guitar players in his generation

  • hahah.. I love this and the lallallalalei part exspecially. What a guitar hero !

  • Coxon rocks on with SG Special in tow. I saw this performance when it was first televised, I still think it's fucking punk rock. Great song.

  • coxon with a SG!! go boy!

  • I thought you and your Telecaster would be jealous... lol

  • haha ya - im a tele faithful ... all becus of coxon, adored him wen growing up....SG bit of a punk guitar tho, coxons wasted on it - r u jag fan then???

  • quality, as always.

his cover of time for heroes is immense.

  • of course he's a fucking good guitar player, you muppet.

  • Now thats a quality guitar sound!

  • this guy is really good

  • great performance! this is one of my fav coxon solo songs ^^

  • thanks for adding this
