If I remember correctly, Alan said that the musicians weren't particularly good. Or it could be that the recordings they did weren't the best on those nights. Or did not have the best possible performance from Martin.

And I think that this song is not really suitable for only four strings. You should have a full string orchestra to make a really good performance. That's expansive, of course.
