I don't get how these engines start, I get how they work but never how they start since you can't get a combustion without the compressed air which creates massive heat, and you can only compress the air when the fins are turning.

@Naturepheonix They are battery powered in the beginning. The compressor is only compressing the air and is running on battery power in the beginning, until you open the fuel and combustion starts. Then its the turbine that is powering the compressor as they are on the same shaft.

@Naturepheonix If you've ever listened to one start it's not hard to imagine what's happening. An electric sarter motor winds the turbine up to speed, then fuel is switched on, and ignition happens by a "sparkplug" (if you can call it that) and that's it, from that point on it running on it's own. hope this helps.

pretty cool. It should have explanation of what is happening. It could say it,s a high bypass turbo -jet . And add a pointer to show the compressor sections, Plus! Why the heck is it shaking? Did it just suck in abird or something? Turbines are smooth!
