  • ...If only Dr Demento still had a radio show

  • Apparently, I too am a model of a singularitarian

  • If we create a time machine will be able to teach ourselfs faster sending our knowledge towards the past. That is better than any singularity.

But a time machine is not at near door...

  • Too slow. Needs to be about 230 BPM to be good.

  • nice, was wanting to see animated characters singing along!

  • Singularitarian yes that describes my way of thinking perfectly i love biomedical engineering and thats the reason i study it lol another song is needed

  • social-transhumanism. the technology side may not be so difficult. the society that accepts the H+ maybe. But don't misunderstand me, I don't think there will be a class struggle. We do not know who will live forever. So the exciting class are the seniors. They are the forefront of our race.

  • Transhumanists rejoice. I have started the process. Active music via Bluetooth. Merged into the jawbone. Doubles as a loudspeaker, and two way radio

  • Aliens have already merged with their technology. Once we give ourselves to technology the technology quickly learns to outclass our inteligence. We end up inferior to what we create to the point where what we create uses us to serve it. Eventualy the technology will see no need for us - because it can reproduce, maintain and improve itself. Technology eventually becomes a strange synthetic life form which can expand through the universe and take over worlds. It's living death.

  • Someone's been reading too much Orwelle

  • I've never read it. It just worked it out for myself after coming across some creepy aliens. Peace.

  • Yo, That "Strange Synthetic Life Form" that you speak of, if humans merge and transform, will be advanced humans.

We will not end up inferior to what we create if we are what we create.

  • @Rob187ok

Wat. Have you seen this happen? Can you make robots/technology that can reproduce or even with free will?

People who picture machines as enemies or evil are just projecting their own aggressiveness. The higher the intelligence, the greater degree of cooperativeness. If there is ever a war between man and machines, it is obvious that man would start it.

  • @crookedkid23 It look like there are spirits (beings without bodies) that use advanced technology to give them physical existance and powers in our dimension. From my own experiences ,,,they aren't very nice.

  • Oh, I see that you're crazy. Never mind then.

  • crookedkid23,,,, Do you think that Jesus is crazy too?

  • It's hard to tell, since the only thing I have to go off is The Second Testament , which has been translated so many times and was written by people who had never met the guy. Since I didn't have the change to meet him I wont be able to confidently say if he was crazy or not. Personally I think he's been misinterpreted, and will always be misinterpreted.

  • @crookedkid23. Those sort of questions and ideas are only natural. The proof is in our relationship with Jesus Christ who's just as much alive today as He ever was. His Spirit lives in those who believe in Him and who repent before Him for their sins ( we're all guilty). Reading the word strengthens our faith and brings us closer to the living spirit of Christ. I don't blame anyone for being sceptical though when we look at the sorry state of so much of what's called "Christianity" today..

  • @Rob187ok Futurist thread rules: Evidence or GTFO.

  • @Rob187ok Where?where the frack are they?

  • @manther30 ,,, Hiding in the dark until they think it's safe to come out.

  • @Rob187ok Ah,bring on the geth then.

  • @crookedkid23 Yea,just look at how the Geth started...

  • this is the best video for this song ive seen because i can read the lyrics properly. well done for realising that that is more important than flashq visuals =D

  • The first step is to remove any preconceived 'mystified' idea of consciousness. Next, consider that your own body is constantly replacing many of your cells while we are unaware of such transitions.

Also, part of what makes it the singularity is our inability to halfway predict the nature of human affairs if/when/after this 'event' takes place.

  • It won't be us in singularity. It will be data clones of our brains. As each neuron dies we die. The uploaded transhuman will be a new consciousness. Our existing conscious will end. I don't see the continuity of consciousness occurring here.

I can't find this "slight" problem addressed anywhere. Can anyone help?

  • Continuity of consciousness is pretty much an illusion. You probably aren't the same person that you were a year ago or when you were 5 years old, although you can remember that person's action and they may influence the way you behave today.

  • This is the very reason why it will be easy to transform the human brain into a synthetic, immortal brain. Just replace the brain cells slowly like nature already does and you won't even notice it happen while still keeping your consciousness.

  • @ryanchappelle24x re: continuity of consciousness: consider the 'ship of Theseus' problem. if each plank is replaced over the course of the ship's life, is the ship still the same ship? consider Douglas Adams' words in "Last Chance to See": "The idea of the building ... [is] the essence of the building. ... To be overly concerned with the original materials, which are merely sentimental souvenirs of the past, is to fail to see the living building itself."

  • @brainiac256 I like you'r thinking ^_^

  • we are but counting down.

  • i am quite upset. >:(

  • pretty good.

  • Ignore the hater. This stuff is gold.
