  • Bill Bixby was the man back in the 70s and 80s!

  • The show only lasted one season and went through a major overhaul half way through. It also started in late October due to the Writer's Strike.

It was NBCs attempt to have an "action series" with little or no violence.

That was the big bugaboo at that time.

  • Read up on it. There were lots of special effects in the show.

  • Holy Schiet I have to get DVD of this STAT!!!!!!!!!

  • @DoISmeLLikeWeed

I've been looking for episodes for a long time. Do you believe that you could burm me copies :) ? regards Sia Agent

  • This main title is from the original pilot film that first appeared as a one-time shot on the NBC Wednesday Mystery Movie wheel. The title character's name was Anthony Dorian in the pilot; it was changed to Anthony Blake in the series.

  • It said in the intro that the show uses no special effects in the tricks. Now that was a joke.

  • @unclemontie It's true. All of Bill Bixby's magical feats were designed and sometimes co-performed with Bixby by the great magician Mark Wilson. There were nn special photographic effects.

  • am looking for the name of a TV programme or film shown on British TV 1968- 1974 with... A dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom , she is sitting on a chaise lounge in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress, at the back of the room, on the facing left "not to open the case" .

But the girl does when the air rushes inside in a of basic technique of film animation /time frame - the dress dramatically and rapidly falls to pieces

  • i don't recall ever watching this show. i wonder whether bixby ever used his magic to transform himself into something big and green and angry.

  • I would to have this as a ringtone on my phone, anyone have a suggestion?

  • @msmcrue1 Message me. I think I can help you. :)

  • intros were so cheeztastic back then! pre hulk i'm guessing!

  • I adored this show, Bill Bixby was my first serious kid crush, he was so gorgeous in this. DIdn't reckon so much in the Hulk but still, just hearing this music gives me chills! This is what Youtube is for, blasts from the past you thought were gone forever

  • Great playing Tony Terran!!!! Tony Terran plays the Piccolo Trumpet

    on the Patrick Williams date.

  • very good show, seen lots on dvd and all the cast are excellent..underrated and I hadnt heard of it before my bf told me about it..cool Stingray too!:)

  • This was a very entertaining show. Real escapist stuff.

  • Joan Caulfield whoa there's a blast from the past

  • I remember this series long time ago but I didn't Know it was a 1 series lived. I know what the car is, Corvette. Now Ellocobender have you got the clip where he hold a man in tall balcony threading to drop about the information.

  • The Magician had come out in 1975. I loved when I was kid. How he would solved people's problems, solved mysteries, and solved crimes with magic.

  • the series aired during the 1973-1974 season

  • Yeah I loved this series too. Now we have Dr Phil to solve all this mess :)

  • Great show. Very underrated.

  • i love the 80s serieses...i guess nowadays prison break, desperate housewives etc are..ok ...but those times the serieses were magical..maybe becuase i was just a kid back then dont know.

  • This show was on in the 70s not the 80s

  • Now, this one kinda got past me. I remember its run but only vaguely because I refused to watch it--couldn't take the premise seriously. (A magician who solves murders? Seriously?)

    Great theme, though.

  • what was this, a magician who solved murders or something? i can barely remember an opening sequence

  • Opening of "pilot episode" features Oscar winner Kim Hunter "Stella from A Streetcar Named Desire".

  • Bill was from my hometown of San Francisco, California,

  • My Favorite Martian, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Hulk -- I think Bill Bixby was on TV for about twenty years.

  • This is the opening to the pilot film for the series. The original opening was similar to this...I used to think it looked a little like the Partridge Family opening credits.

  • My channel is dedicated to "The Magician". I uploaded an entire episode in 5 parts, "Nightmare in Steel". However my DVDs are missing the cool beat that starts this awesome music, so thanks for posting!

  • I remember this show on NBC, 1973-74, I believe. I don't know why it didn't catch on. Cool show! I don't recall what shows it was up against or what night it was on but it was fun while it lasted.

  • Didn't you just want to own that cool white 'Vette?

  • Just love the old school Corvettes

  • This was my favorite TV show of all time. I wonder if it's on DVD . . . I'd buy the whole series.
